“Horrible salon”

I had a very horrible experience in this salon I called to book for a cut and the receptionist automatically booked me with 1 hairstylist hat is supposed to be one of the senior stylists with a decade of experienc. Well. I went in the salon and the cut and styling took around 1.5 hr(1 hr only for cut). She went through consultation,I showed her pictures and we talked a lot about.  I left the salon ok. Arriving home I checked better the cut and I noticed the length was just on the shoulder and my hair were flipping up,then there was a bulky/choppy look. I called again the salon and only then discovered that since the stylist are working as self employed I had to see her to get my hair cut fixed. I went again in the salon and talked to vienn ensuring with her that she wouldn't touch my hair and cut more if she wasn't feeling confident and able to fix my cut. She convinced me and after another 1hr of cutting I got the same bulky/choppy look but shorter. When I asked her explanation she blamed my hair. When I showed her my pictures with the same haircut, hair texture, straightening and mix of straightening and natural roots. She still blamed my hair. a professional should refuse jobs that aren't for him. She had control and possibility to choose to don't accept my request.  60£ are nothing compared to a work she shouldn't take. I am sorry I didn't realise before that the reviews mentioning vienn were made from people with 1/3 reviews . So as far as I know they can be friends or may be lucky consumers. There is no way a professional blames results on the constumer.  The professional has the control of the results. It is not fair to tell it isn't possible to achieve a result, just recognise when we can't personally do something and referr to someone else . I am extremely disappointed because people that know nothing about hair are keep asking me "what happened to my hair? Where did I make it and how much I paid for it? Advising me to get them fixed" . I am extremely upset, disappointed and sad of the experience and of trusting the salon . For what I do understand you don't do references check,check portfolio or check the skills of the hairdresser working in your salons. She may have tell she has years of experience but my hair look a bad self made cut. I neved had 1 hr cut looking so terrible.  My very well made cuts used to take 10 min. Review the skills of the stylist before to allow people to book with them. Such an unprofessional salon

“Good advice and atmosphere”

I came for a balayage + haircut without knowing what I exactly wanted. As a picky person who had bad experience with haircuts, I was a little scared of getting a whole new hairstyle. Still, I went for it, got really good advice from my hairdresser. He did wonders with my damaged hair and managed to change my style keeping my long hair ! Would definitely recommend this for someone wanting a change because the price is a little high for people not used to London. (PS - you get free coffee and head massage)

“Avoid this place if you don't want to be disappointed ”

Dos hairdressers are inconsistent! First time hair was ok but then the other four times was a mess. To get a good hair cut there is like a lottery. Very desalinated!!!!

Been wanting to change my hairstyle for a while now and after being recommended by a friend I called the salon. I explained on the phone that i wanted a change but was unsure of what to do, they happily booked me to come in for a consultation with one of their stylist, free of charge! Having a consultation really eased my mind and made me feel very comfortable. The whole salon has a uber trendy feel but without being pretentious. Everyone is very relaxed and chatty. I felt very welcome. I got loads of tips and ideas from my stylist and we decided on a hairstyle and color together! They even care enough about you to make a "skin test" to make sure you wont have any allergic reaction to the colors they use. No other salon I've been to has ever bothered to do that. I came back a few days later for my actual appointment and coming back to the salon I was instantly greeted with recognition and smiles from all the staff Id seen in the salon the previous time. I had "Californian highlights" witch looks so good, natural and just like Ive been a sunny holiday! The cut is also lovely with soft layers and sweeping fringe that my stylist recommended me to have, I was nervous at first but Im so happy I listened to their advice as its without a doubt the best cut and color Ive ever had. Thank you ESHK team!

“Absolutely horrific!”

I've NEVER written a review before, but I'm infuriated. Zoltan completely ignored what I requested and gave me a bowl cut. I went back in to get my cut fixed, stating I was unable to style it, and was made to feel stupid. £36 down the drain, and I’ve also had to pay another hairdresser to fix it, which only took about 5 minutes but was told by Zoltan is an “impossible” job. It seems he was trying to prove a point and would not accept any criticism, at my expense and time. Completely disappointed. FYI - I’ve had my hair cut by the senior stylist and she’s fantastic. Attentive and talented. All the other stylists and staff seem lovely too.

“Disappointed inappropriate behaviour”

Getting my highlights done at Goswell eshk. I arrived asking questions about the techniques she would use and the overall effect. I mentioned that I liked what my previous colorist had done (but he is too expensive) . Se became visibly frustrated by my questions and this comment and subsequently told me that I can go back to my previous colorist if I didn't trust her and if I liked his work so much. I have never been spoken to like this et and after a long work week this Saturday appt was meant to be a treat but I now feel unwelcome and unimportant as a client. Very disappointed and will not be returning.

“Super Happy!”

I've been going to the salon for quite long and i've always been satisfied. The staff is always very nice, receptionists are friendly and the place is clean. Unfortunately one day i found out my spanish stylist left. But i'm super happy now because Marta is back. She's very professional with all the suggestions about my style, great cut and color every time. I definitely recommend the salon.

“Horrible customer service”

I've been coming to ESHK for about a year now after downsizing from Sassoon. I've had my hair cut by pretty much all the stylists and have been relatively satisfied up until my most recent visit, where I was booked in with Zoltan (a supposedly senior stylist). He offered no greeting or introduction, no consultation or recommendations (isn't that the whole point of offering a "premium" service?) and he kept leaving for several minutes at a time without giving an explanation. At no point did he attempt to make a conversation with me and I was quite offended at not being treated like a person. When he was done with the cut he simplt walked away without saying goodbye or anything. Avoid at all cost - There are much better salons around at the same price level.

“Great Haircut”

I have been to Eshk for quite a while, I used to go the Hoxton one but now I live in Barbican I tried the one on Goswell Road. I had Sebastian the senior Stylist and what a great cut. The guy takes his time and I felt very comfortable. So happy with my cut happy to manage and I feel good I had to share!

“You pay for what you get.”

The senior stylists are all very good (I've tried most of them. - I don't want to say my favourite as they're already very popular!) and capable of suggesting unconventional cuts. But the ones I've received from the male stylists Manu and [name removed] left me unsatisfied. They both didn't seem to have much imagination when cutting Asian hair. [name removed] especially didn't seem very interested in hearing what I wanted and couldn't be bothered to talk at an audible volume responding to my questions during the consultation. He couldn't give me any interesting suggestions so I ended up basically having a trim. At the end I asked him if he could make my hair look more textured (spiky) with wax and he simply tousled my hair... £30.

So, I came here because I wanted a new style, yet was terrified of trying a new salon. I called earlier in the week and asked the friendly receptionist who would be good at taking my dyed-black hair to a lovely red. She recommended Marco, so I booked an appointment. I came in and was immediately greeted by friendly staff and met Marco who was incredibly hospitable and listened to me when I described what I wanted-black to darker red with limited damage to my hair. He was able to pull it off and I am THRILLED! I found my new salon!

A friend recommended ESHK Hoxton as i work nearby so thought i would give it a go. I am usually very fussy with my hair and have trouble with new hairdressers but ESHK Hoxton was brilliant! Great atmosphere in the salon and my stylist Ana was amazing! I was very happy with her customer service and my hair! She did exactly what i asked which doesn't happen often and made me feel very comfortable. I will definitely go to her again and tell my friends too. Massive thumbs up!

“Good experince at eshk”

Went there the other day based on the ratings and comments here, and I was very pleased! Sofie was lovely, and just the kind of hairdresser I need. I had very long hair (almost touching my bum), and I needed to get a real hairstyle. Sofie proposed two alternatives after hearing me out, and explained which she thought would suit me best, which was just what I needed. I want a nice hairstyle, but I had no idea really what would suit me, but while she had her own ideas, she still listened to my concerns as I was a bit cowardous in the beginning, but I'm more than happy with my new hairstyle and I can only recommend this salon to anyone and everyone!

“Worst haircut I've ever had”

I have never been so upset by a haircut (or, in fact, any service) that I've refused to pay and been compelled to write a negative review, but here goes... I came here because I couldn't get an appointment at my usual salon. I know what I like - I brought in around 7-8 photographs of the style I wanted. After waiting 20 minutes for a consultation, the French chap who spoke to me clearly didn't speak enough English to understand what I wanted (although, I would assume that, as a hairdresser, 'volume' would be one of your key words to know. More of this later). I asked for a 50s style medium bob, lots of volume, Marilyn Monroe/Audrey Horne ish. This has been my style for around 4 years. I showed photos. He nodded. Midway through I was asked if the length was OK. It was incredibly short already by that point, and still half-wet (my hair gets huge when dry, its hard to judge), what was I supposed to say? An hour and a half later, he finishes. My hair is *poker* straight. All volume has been taken out of it. Its shapeless, and lank, and looks like someone has just cut in a straight line round the bottom of it. Not quite the voluminous 50s look I was going for. I try to talk to him about it...but he doesn't understand. So I ask for the manager. She tells me that the style I asked for is impossible. I asked why a) many hairdressers before have managed it and b) why wasn't I told this in the consultation. She said that the guy didn't speak enough English to understand what I wanted - how is that my problem? How could I be more clear in providing photos? I asked her to tell me honestly if it suited me, and she stayed quiet and looked at the floor. They offered to re-do it, but by this point I'd been there 2 hours, and it was so short already (like, level with my mouth) that I didn't want to lose any more. I've never had a cut that made me embarrassed to go out in it. I had to ask for kirby grips to pin it up as it looked so lank (with my frizzy mane, I would've though this was pretty much an impossibility). TL;DR Terrible, terrible cut. Awful finish. Employ staff who cannot understand want the client wants. Avoid at all costs.

“OPPOSITE OF EVERYTHING I ASKED FOR”

I had grown out my hair for about a year, its a medium ash blonde and the ends were a bit blonder....I basically asked her to simply make the rest of the hair the same colour fading naturally to a bit blonder at the ends....simple you think? Well apparently not. She died my hair basically bloody black! Nothing natural about this, about 10 times too dark and if this wasnt worse enough it looked like she'd got a ruler and painted around half my head and then splattered a few black patches where she felt like it and dipped it in a cherry pie. I was SO specific, all I wanted was my ash toned hair, no ginger hues, and no lines. Everthing that I then got! It is terrible, I feel terrible....And after she did it I was so shocked as to how dark it was, so I made her 'take some of the pigment out' whatever that means, which barely made a difference and she was so rushed and basically made me feel like it was my fault. I rang the morning after, as it was still so dark after trying to wash it out & desperately asked them to fix it, but no they 'couldn't fit me in' and offered me an appoitment in 5 days time, which obviosuly by then the damage is done. I'm so upset, it had taken me years to get it back to how I wanted it, and the worst part....fixing too dark hair is virtually impossible. What a waste of time and money. I'm going to demand a refund, at least then I won't be poor with sh*t hair.

“Depends who you get. ”

I first went to Eshk after I ready a time out review saying how great it was. The first couple of times I went, I had JAY, who was great and I was very happy with my hair. Soon she moved up to a senior stylist and started charging £55 which was too steep for me (all their senior stylists charge that much) so I went with a junior stylist. I got a young French guy, Camille. He was nice enough but it was the worst hair cut I have ever had. He didn't seem to go to a great deal of effort and I was very disappointed. It was only layers, nothing too complex, so I don't really understand what went wrong. I now go elsewhere and get my hair cut for less money.

Finally a "fancy" salon that you feel welcome and comfortable in! The staff is super cool and trendy but so nice and pay you lots of attention in the way I like it. Like "-Lets talk about your hair!" Cause that is what they care about, not my "last holiday cold-talk". Im so happy, would recommend it to everyone that lives/works around clerkenwell/old st and has a chance to get there!

THIS IS A GREAT SALON!: I got my hair cut this weekend. Daniel did an EXCELLENT job! I was so happy with his cut, and style. We tried something new and its working out.
