“complete mess left in by Aqua Card”

★☆☆☆☆

written by tanyaarif on 23/01/2021

I took out a payment break for 3 months with aqua card services at the start of lockdown, i then had texts informing me this had come to an end, and i duly paid the complete outstanding balance i then attempted to use the card when i was moving, to pay storage and much to my shock the card was not being accepted, so i called aqua and was advised that the storage company were not enterng transactions correctly and that they should use chip and pin, this was the fraud department at aqua that advised this wrongly so, this led to me being unable to access my storage, and i still had to pay the drivers for nothing i raised a complaint with aqua, and several months down the line am hardly any further forward they originally advised tat they were having problems retreiving the call and when they did, have been unable to resolve this matter, i have been left with hundreds of pound of storage fees, and the company have now issued a disppsal notice on my goods, and also advised that they are pursuing me for the amount of storage fees, which i have incurred due to the delays in aqua dealing with my complaint and not accepting responsibility i have been advised that the original reason that aqua did not make payment was that my credot card holliday was still in place because instead of ending this when the 3 months was up, they had taken this to the end of the month i am in one big mess, and cannot begin to explain the effect this has had on my mental health, i have suffered a total breakdown, and cannot look at any more letters without having a panic attack please avoid using these people

“5 weeks and still no refund ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MacDonaldtk333 on 10/04/2020

I requested a refund on a Flybe account 5 weeks ago now. I’ve made 5 calls to get this sorted. Every time I call they say they have looked into it and it would show in 48 hours, 7 days later it’s still not showing. The keep asking for further information and I have to prove that Flybe are in Administration! Totally Joke. A friend who booked the same flight on another Credit card received a refund in 7 days. Each time I call they have another excuse as to why it hasn’t been administered. They are saying the interest is frozen on this transaction but I do not believe them.

written by AdysonHaynes on 03/02/2020

i found this company, not very customer friendly, they issue credit cards, then they suddenly change their attitude, very unhelpful, they increase your credit limit then change their minds and without any reason given they reduce your limit, then they will not answer your question to why. then they send subtle intimidating letters, basically wanting to increase payments by nearly 400% i have filed a complaint with the financial ombudsman i recommend any card holder to do the same DEFINATELY NOT RECOMMENDED TO ANYONE, HIGH INTEREST AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, IF YOU HAVE THIS CARD ,GET RID OF THEM

“Terrible customer service..”

★☆☆☆☆

written by sheilaboshell on 07/12/2018

I have been with Aqua for quite a while...their interest rates are extortionate, but it's my own fault for taking the increases, however I have never defaulted on a single payment even though it's high.My complaint is that this month is a very difficult time for me as I have several bills all coming in at once and the Aqua payment which is actually higher than any of the other bills so I rang to see if there was any help they could offer as in maybe a break just for this month..they agreed they might be able to do that..cue the most humiliating, patronising grilling of my finances WHY I couldn't pay this months bill and WHAT were the other bills that I was prioritising? ..all this for £160!...you would think I was asking them to write off the whole bloody loan! bearing in mind this was literally for a MONTH and I would have to pay not just the next month's payment but the arrears by the end of Jan, I waited 20 minutes whilst the woman who had asked all these questions spoke to another "team" then she came back and said she had to ask "some more questions"...I told her to forget it I would borrow the money and pay the damn thing.in contrast Nat West, who I bank with have always gone out of their way to help if I have experienced difficulties..Aqua are loan sharks plain and simple, hey have NO interest in the welfare of their customers, as son as I can I will pay off this and I will NEVER deal with them again I would advise people to steer well clear!

“Worse Credit Card I have ever held”

★☆☆☆☆

written by mpBeasley85 on 09/11/2018

This is one of the worse credit card companies I have ever met. Despite always paying my monthly payments on time or early my interest rate is increasing adding more to my payments. Aqua should never be allowed to practice as a company and should be reported for the disgusting way they are running their company ~ and will be. Sadly they are not very wise I can see people falling into more debt and not being able to pay their balance and so Acqua will not be able to recover their money having to take a loss. This company is heading for trouble with the regulators if they do not change their ways. If you are not desperate stay away, far far away from this company. Terrible Terrible Terrible

“reported to financial ombudsman”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Whiteheadhc112 on 05/10/2018

This is a copy of my complaint logged with the financial ombudsman after zero interest in showing any sort of customer service. Aqua credit card services are completely incompetent. They may be licensed to provide credit card services but they are not competent. They refuse to reply to any customer contact and when they do, they do so in a way that guarantees the customer is not able to reply for example by having 'noreply' email addresses. I am abroad. My credit card works 1 in every 5 attempts. It is very inconvenient. I am way below the credit limit. My wife has an additional card on the same account. it also didnt used to work for the 1st week of out trip. Now it works and mine doesnt. It isn't anything wrong physically with the card, because it is rejected online too when you just enter the number. I have contacted AQUA 27 times over the last 10 days to try to get this sorted. Nobody ever answers the phone and calling from abroad it has cost me a fortune. I have called 9 times and emailed 18. Even though I explained the situation in email, and then escalated to AQUA complaints when I heard nothing. I heard nothing for 2 weeks. Finally this morning I got a stupid email response saying it was 'easier' to communicate by phone than email (easier? not for me!) and can I call to discuss a non geographic number that is impossible to call from outside the UK. And then the email said dont bother to reply to this email it wont be read!! I dont even need to communicate with them I just want my card to do what they told me it would. I have an expectation that if my card is in credit and everything else is good then the card should work, not one in 5 attempts, especially when my wife as a supplementary card holder hers works all the time. Its just pathetic and they shouldnt be allowed to operate in such a reckless and incompetent manner with complete disregard to customer service.

“They are no better than loan sharks”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Valentina9 on 03/07/2018

If you pay on time or clear the balance they increase the interest you get drawn in and then the rates jump up. They then tell you if you do not want the rates to go up you can freeze the card and pay off the debt I owed £3000 and was being charged £99 a month interest. Watch out for these people as there are other cards and all provided by Newday Ltd. Go elswhere Capital one are better. Pleaee avoid these loan sharks.

★☆☆☆☆

written by rodneydonnell on 09/05/2018

They claim to help restore your credit rating but this is not what they are about. they continually increase your credit limit when you have been faithfully making payments but they also increase interest rates because of the "way you are using your account". i have recently payed my balance in full, but they said there will be another interest payment to make next month. do not ever be suckered in by them.

“Help to build credit NO. Help to destroy your credit YES.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JosephJ on 26/03/2018

This company should have its licence to trade revoked. They do not have the first clue what good service looks like and where a promise to call back is made, then forgotten, place onus on the customer to chase. This has led to negative impact to my credit file and although obvious to any sensible person that there was a clear lapse in service, again - my fault. No sensible person would continue to pay a balance where fees were added in error, with any other high street bank an acceptance of fault would be given but no, Aqua is led by operator error (multiple failings to call back - 4 months to be exact). Help to build credit NO. Help to destroy your credit YES. BE AWARE

“No customer service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Thomasina2 on 28/02/2018

In September of last year my husband reported what he thought was fraud on his card. His card was cancelled and told he would receive a new one. He is still waiting. He has called every week to be told there is a problem at Head Office but no information as to what the problem is. Same answer again this morning. Surely IFthere is a problem someone could answer the question and if they have cancelled his account it would be courteous to inform him. Customer service hahaha not sure they know what it means

“Second chance after Iva”

★★★★★

written by Belfast1980 on 21/01/2018

I have just completed my Iva in July last year and have found it hard to obtain a credit card having a very low credit score. I decided to apply for the aqua classic card and was accepted straight away. My card and pin arrived within 5 working days and I have been given a limit of £900 which is adequate for my needs. I intend to use my card day to day and pay off in full so high interest rate doesn't bother me. I am just happy to be given the second chance to move on from my past bad debts and to rebuild my credit score!

This card seems to give a very good deal, can I transfer from my present card to you. My present card is about £3,000 but I pay direct debit every month, and never miss a payment.

Hi, have looked into what sort of credit limits aqua usually offer to start with and it's between £250 and £1200. Currently they have a 6 months balance transfer offer with 3% fee (minimum £3).

If you want to see your chances before applying some reputable sites (i used totally money) offer a soft search giving you an indication of likely acceptance before you apply without affecting your credit score or you can do a full application and get a response in 60 seconds.

Hope this helps.

“APR increase ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Rileyso1970 on 06/01/2018

So they give you a card to improve your rating and even though you have never missed a payment they decide you are a risk and put your APR up every 6 months. Can’t wait to get card payed off and then they can shove it

“Supremely unhelpful”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Swambi on 19/12/2017

I was fine with Aqua card until unauthorised fraudulent activity occurred on my account. Whilst my experience with other providers in similar circumstances has been prompt and supportive service, when I rang Aqua (after an hour's wait) I was told that they refused to accept it as fraud, even though it had been taken overseas and they couldn't provide any information as to what the payment was. I have since sent a message (completely unacknowledged) and two letters of complaint but they have still left the fraudulent transaction on my account and are proceeding to charge me for it. I view this as the nadir of service and would advise anyone to steer well clear of this card, particularly as my interest rate is an eye-watering 31.16% APR!

Hello, I've just recently applied for a aqua card and been approved. However I've no idea what my limit will be till I receive the card and pin taking up to 10 working days. Could you tell me how much yours started off as please? Or is it difficult depending on your circumstances? And I read that the limit on their cards is £1200 on the website??

“Difficult to close”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BradyPhillips490 on 07/12/2017

Had card for a few years or so, I have always made twice the minimum payment and never missed a payment. Every February or so they would write to me and congratulate me for the way I have managed my account, and offer to increase my credit limit. Often this would double my existing credit limit. Then every November they would write and put up my interest rate, by 3-4%. I called up wanting to close my account and pay the full balance. I am told that I cannot close my account for 2 MONTHS as they add interest on in arrears. I have to have a £0 Balance for two months before they will close the account off. NEVER experienced the like before. AVOID this company.

“Aqua Classic”

★★★★☆

written by JasMadahar on 28/10/2017

Look, I know things with my credit haven't been good and my credit rating was low. I took a punt and applied and they accepted me! Now, here's the trick. Paying the balance off every month means effectively free credit. Aqua is a business so if they don't earn off your card where's the incentive? I always keep a small balance and pay the extra interest. Thing is, the only reason I gave four stars was that I emailed them using the online to ask what I needed to do to ensure a rise in my limit. Unfortunately they took this as an application to increase and denied me!! Five months and no increase when others get them seems a little unfair. Nevertheless I'm grateful of the opportunity they gave me and I've even used the card abroad! Thanks to Aqua.

My cards have been blocked because I had 2 aqua cards which I thought was okay. They now tell me it's not okay. Despite the fact I have been making payments on both cards over the phone to a person who seemed to have no problem with it. Now when I tried to make a payment on both cards last week I was told I was not allowed to have 2 cards and they blocked one off my cards and said they would unlock my other card on friday midnight but never did. What should I do?

Why would you want to cancel it? It has no monthly fee, just don't use it! You can always use it at a later date when you feel you are in a better situation or your circumstances have changed. Since the idea of an Aqua card is to use a credit card sensibly, I do not understand what you mean by a change in circumstances affecting you. It is not a loan you are taking on, it is a way to prove you can spend without borrowing. If you don't want the temptation of getting in to debt, take a sharp pair of scissors to the card when it arrives through the post. problem solved without a phonecall to Aqua customer services - who are for the most part awful and unhelpful and have the attitude that their customers are to be disrespected, as they have a background of poor credit

Hi I had a problem with identity fraud. Firstly call your local police station who will give you a fraud telephone number to call. Once a complaint has been logged you need to contact Aqua and explain it's a fraudulent account and give them the crime reference number. After that it is out of your hands, It is then Aqua's responsibility to prove it is your account, not for you to prove to them. If they continue to harass afterwards I would contact the financial ombudsman who can advise you further and will intervene with any harassment or bullying tactics. Hopefully the police will be able to find out the culprits. Good luck

If it says it has accepted you online, It has done just that, and you would have accepted the credit agreement and interest rate. Your pin should arrive within 14 days, and card 7 days later. Aqua, does take significantly longer that other card providers to issue cards, so I wouldn't worry about this. Just forget about your application for a couple of weeks, and then once your pin arrives you can start getting excited, - in the knowledge that your shiny new card will be popping through your letterbox anyday soon. All ready to shop with :) x

I got the card in October 2013 with a £250 limit. I got the letter in February saying that it was getting increased to £500. This didn't happen, so I rang them and was told that it had been withdrawn. I spoke to several people who had no idea why. I still have not heard anything and had no increase. I always pay on time so now I'm waiting 4 months on, to see if I get an increase. Customer service is a joke. Does anyone know why I wouldn't get the increase?

I had a similar increase 3 months into having my card,I phoned up & the increase was set.approximately 2 months later it was decreased,on asking them why? They informed me to contact Equifax or experia,I'm registered with one of them already & nothing had changed.so I called back & was told it was out of their hands, so I got my debit card & paid my remaining balance then closed my account along with a few choice words.so I would do the same & shop around good luck to you.
