Tesco Opticians failed to let me know when the glasses were in store. Eventually went in and found out they had been in store over a week. Previous service good this time very poor. Seems to be a general decline in customer service at Tesco which was never that good. … Read Full Review

Normally I shop from tesco for groceries they are good but recently i had an experience of tesco optician, I am very dissatisfied, there is a bit difference in selling groceries and health care.
Optician and salesperson prescribed me for the MRS coating for my glasses (worth £ 30), I went for that but when later on bill was not passed with my employer and they asked to get some written that this is something required for me; optician refused to write it
I complained to customer service they… Read Full Review

I had my eyes tested at the Tesco opticians on Middlebrook retail park Bolton. The test itself was carried out very professionally, the optician taking her time and using all up-to-date equipment and techniques, each part of the test was explained fully to me and made perfect sense; I was encouraged to relax, take my time and complete the test properly - which I did. After the test was over my results (prescription) were ready in a few short minutes. I was then encouraged to browse their range… Read Full Review

Excellent service from Tesco Opticians, New Oscott. Not having had my eyes tested for a few years, I was surprised that my sight had deteriorated so much. Optician did a good eye test, suggested varifocals but I declined instead opting for a pair of reading glasses and a different pair for driving and watching TV. She was very patient while I tried on several pairs and finally I made my choice. They were ready for me following week and I ordered prescription sunglasses when I went to collect… Read Full Review

The eye test took approximately 7 minutes. NONE of the follwing were done in the test: the reading glasses element for my varifocal glasses (which he apparently guessed), the eye pressure test and the colour blind test.
I asked for the reading element to be done, and I felt as though I was considered a nuisance by the assistant. I went back into the test room, and what he had told me previously had been wrong.
I would not use Tesco ever again. Very disappointed… Read Full Review

I bought two pairs of varifocal from Tesco Opticians with my parents, I took them back because I could not get on with them, the manager would not refund and suggested they had another go at getting it right, needless to say they got them worse, I phoned them and eventually he said he would refund my money if I went on Saturday. I did and then he said he wasnt prepared to refund as my prescription was done at specsavers, he also said one of the pairs that he redid should not have had… Read Full Review

I bought two pairs of varifocals from Tesco Opticians Birkenhead, both pairs were totally wrong. A different optician re-tested me and admitted the first test was wrong. The division between distance and reading had also been measured wrongly. After taking them back for a second time I asked for a refund, which was given without question.
The front of shop assistants all seemed a bit off hand with me in their attitude and didn't appear to have the right technical knowledge. The manager I dealt… Read Full Review

well after not getting my eyes tested for nearly 5 years at my old opticians i went shopping in tesco and thought i would get my eyes tested they gave me a appointment for the day after which was a sunday at 10am, i got there at 9.45 and was asked to go in at 10am, the woman that saw me was really helpful a little disappointed about my eyes like infact i had 20/20 vision but now they are so bad i am not allowed to drive until i got my glasses, anyway after 20 minutes of getting them tested i… Read Full Review

Very bizarre eye test from Tesco Opticians in which optician finally decided to stick to my previous Vision Express prescription rather than commit himself to a new one. Chose attractive frames which developed a stress fracture within several weeks despite the fact I had avoided wearing them because they felt so badly fitted they hurt my nose. I felt as though the staff member I complained to suggested I manhandled my otherwise pristine glasses in order to get a free repair. I insisted and got… Read Full Review

When I was selecting my original glasses from Tesco Opticians I found the trial pair slightly uncomfortable around the ears which the optician said wasn't a problem. After using the glasses for a week or so I went back to the store as the glasses still really didn't fit very well and were uncomfortable behind the ears. I had to go back 3 times before I felt they believed me and agreed to change the frames. I have been relatively happy with the new frames except that the lens have fallen out… Read Full Review

Went to the Tesco Opticians in Abingdon. Excellent service. The test was fantastic and very professional. The optician then passed my details over to a manager because my prescription is a bit complicated. He instantly recognised the problems and recommended 2 very good frames - as it was buy one get one free. The price, even with my thinner lenses, is cheaper than I have ever paid for one pair, never mind 2. The service was fantastic, and if anyone with bottle top lenses, like mine, are in… Read Full Review

I visited the opticians as I was shopping, then booked in for this free test that they were offering on the day, when I went on the day from my test, it all started, firstly the optician I dealt with seemed rude and abrupt with me. I would never ever go back there, I felt as though she just rushed the eye examination and then passed me over to a gentleman who was very professional and polite, he told me all the offers that were available, and I told him I would come back with my partner, then… Read Full Review

Being a D and A customer for many years, it was time for a change. I went round to my local Tesco's in Burnley to have my wife's and my eye's tested. The service was very promt and my wife was pleased with the way they delt with her saying that she'd never know an eye test to be more in depth than there. When it came to purchasing the glasses, again the choice though not big was very good, and VERY CHEAP! We got four pairs in total, 2x Diesel for me one with thinner lenses and the other tinted… Read Full Review

I've been to Tesco Opticians recently and I had great service, I normally go to a small local opticians, but whilst I was shopping in the store found that an opticians had just opened. I like that it is really convenient, I hate going in to town on my day off. I had an eye test virtually there and then, the staff were really helpful and friendly, as mentioned on other posts they did not push me into anything I didn't want, but then with the prices I don't think they need to hard sell! I've… Read Full Review

Eye test at Tesco Opticians lasted about 25 minutes, the optician was very chatty and explained everything in a way I could understand. I couldn't decide on which frames to get but the member of staff was really patient with me and even got some colleagues to help narrow down some choices. They don't try and hard sell you anything, they told me what was available and let me make my mind up which was very refreshing, unlike specsavers that seemed to want to sell me everything,
In the end I got… Read Full Review

Tesco Opticians - I have always found buying my reading glasses a bit of a chore, usually opting for the ones from the local garage. But while out shopping with the wife I saw that Tesco Opticians was doing two pairs for the price of one, so I thought I'd give them a go. I was pleasantly surprised, they offered me a free test and within an hour I had my test and ordered two new pairs. I had a text a week later to say my glasses were in, I collected them on my way home from work and they work… Read Full Review

I think it was certainly a different feel when I was in Tesco compared to a normal opticians. The test I had in Tesco was longer than my wife in specsavers (mine 40mins her 30mins) but I just found there was much more to choose from in specsavers. We also found that although tesco is cheaper in some areas, specsavers was cheaper in others! Its all very confusing, but I think in two years time we will both be going to specsavers!… Read Full Review

Excellent service from Tesco Opticians! Great prices!
Contrary to popular belief, every store is different and you cannot tar everyone with the same brush.
I've been wearing specs since I was 8 and I have been to every high street Opticians and some independents too and the service is never consistent across the board, it all depends on the individual store.
However, based on my experience, I would recommend the Chadwell heath store to anyone living locally. The manager/optician and testing… Read Full Review

A girl at the counter admitted that scratches were the least of it- sometimes glasses came into the store with the legs broken off.
They had an offer of buy one designed pair & get the second pair free- so the staff made us feel bad about returning the glasses claiming that they had been free anyway.
If paying for 2 pairs would have guaranteed two good quality glasses we would have gladly paid for then - we weren't the ones that same up with the offer!!… Read Full Review
