I would like to point out that my rating would be 5 star if I knew without doubt that the assistant who conducted the first part of my eye test was fully qualified to do so. All the assistants wore navy suits and spectacles, bar the Optician, and I am now alarmed in case my first tests were undertaken by an unqualified person. In the past, only an optician/optometrist has conducted those tests. Why did the Tesco Optician not perform the full range of tests himself?
When I arrived at the… Read Full Review

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU BUY GLASSES AT TESCO OPTICIAN, GO TO A PROPER HIGH STREET OPTICIAN. HAD EYE TEST IN TESCO, HAD GLASSES MADE UP TO THIS PRESCRIPTION IN TESCO AND COULDN'T SEE PROPERLY WITH THEM. FELT DIZZY AND NAUSEOUS WHEN WEARING GLASSES DUE TO PRESCRIPTION BEING WRONG. THEY WILL NOT REFUND MONEY, THEY REFUSE TO LET ME SPEAK TO MANAGER, I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THEIR COMPETENCY. I WANT REFUND NOT ANOTHER BOTCHED ATTEMPT AT PROVIDING GLASSES THAT I CANT USE… Read Full Review

OMG ! I've shopped at Tesco for years, and never even noticed that they had an opticians. My Mum saw the £10 ad in the paper, so I thought I'd give it a go. I've never needed glasses before, but had started to feel a strain on my eyes. The optician was really nice - explained what's happening with my eyes and I do need a pair of reading glasses. I didn't get one of the £10 frames (but did get the free test!), but got some cool Morgan glasses which I thought were great value, compared to… Read Full Review

I have just returned from TESCO, in HAYES Middlesex, after having an eye test.
The first part of the test was carried out by a female who is not qualified to do so, she said she was doing it to save time as the optician had not arrived for work, this was at 9.55am.
I wandered around the store and came back to the desk at 11.15am, the optician had arrived by then.
The glasses are advertised at £10, complete with eye test, but, i was told that the frames would be £10 and the lens would be an… Read Full Review

I purchased varifocal glasses and got the anti-glare and scratch protection coatings. The glasses scratch very easily and of a poor quality. I would advise people not to purchase glasses from Tesco unless you want poor quality glasses… Read Full Review

The eye test was OK but the dispensing was an absolute joke. No attempt to consider frame options, all they wanted was a quick sale and my money. I wouldn't go back to Tescos again....they may sell cheap fruit and veg...but dispense a pair of frames....forget it!… Read Full Review

I recently visited Tescos in Bradley Stoke, Bristol. I thought the staff were friendly and helpful. My free sight test was very thorough and took approximately 30 minutes. Well done Tesco I say, keep up the good work : )… Read Full Review

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TESCO OPTICIANS,THE AFTER SERVICE IS NON EXISTANT, GLASSES WERE FAULTY AND THE CASE THEY PROVIDED WAS TOO SMALL, WHEN I ASKED FOR A CASE THAT WOULD FIT THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY! ALSO THEY WERE MUCH DEARER THAN THE SMALLER OPTICIANS I HAVE USED BEFORE. I E-MAILED THE HEAD OFFICE BUT I AM STILL WAITING FOR A REPLY. I USED TO SPEND OVER £100.00 PER WEEK ON GROCERIES I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN A TESCO AGAIN. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO SELL GLASSES, THEY SHOULD STICK… Read Full Review

I went to Tesco Optician in Colney Hatch in North London. I was very disappointed. I can not see properly with those glasses. Wrong prescription, wrong pupil distance measurement, started having headaches. The customer care is awful. After many visits I asked for a refund and was unsuccessful. Apparently THEY DO NOT GIVE A REFUND. Beware!… Read Full Review

I would like to point out the misleading free eye test at Tesco Opticians, Brislington Store, Bristol. Although advertised as a feeebie it is not the case unless you choose from their range.
If you do not choose from the limited range that is in the store you will be charged £10.00 and no prescription to use elsewhere.
Also this is not advertised very clearly.
Customer care is awful and would not recommend going there. I should of STAYED with Specsavers!… Read Full Review

I had a free eyetest at Tesco opticians at Great Yarmouth and could not fault it.
However,I chose a pair of varifocals which I liked and was told the prescription would fit in. After 2 weeks I had to go back in and have my pupil distance measured again,my glasses order was cancelled, another pair ordered as someone had written the distances down incorrectly. Another 2 weeks I didn't hear anything, went in,my glasses had just arrived. I couldn't see properly at all with them. I came home, tried… Read Full Review

I saw their starting low price offer and one thing is clear once your're in there you wont want the rubbish cheaper spex they have. They tried to sell me £350 worth of spex!!! why would i want to go to a SUPERMARKET who sells potatoes and chicken to get spectacles for that price. All i wanted was a an inexpensive reading pair of… Read Full Review

Don'r be misled. I visited Tesco Opticians in SWales for specs - eye test fine - told Buy One Get One Free offer INCLUDED frames AND lenses. Chose frames cost £120 - great so far, but wait for the catch! When I came to pay for the two pairs, I was asked for a total of £360 - I was being charged, on top of the cost of the frames, £240 for "thinning of lenses" @ £120 per pair, If I did not have the lenses "thinned" I would have bottle type lenses [they even suggested - in order to placate my… Read Full Review

I went to Tesco Optians at Middlebrook and found the whole process brilliant. I was booked in for my eye test for a few days after popping in (while doing my shopping). The eye test itself was very professional - just as you would expect from any other opticians. After the test I was told that I didn't really need a new pair of glasses as my prescription has only slightly changed, but as I had already doubled up my clubcard vouchers AND the frames were buy one get one free I decided to get two… Read Full Review

Bought some glasses from the Tesco Opticians, Longton branch. Everything fine until AFTER they have your money, then if anything goes wrong you can forget it.
I have tried to get a refund/replacement on a nine month old pair of glasses after one of the arms fell of the glasses into my lap while driving. Was asked how I had been wearing them, suprisingly enough I was putting them on my face and looking through them, perhaps this was my second mistake, the first going to Tesco. All they want is… Read Full Review

I thought the test by the Tesco optician was fine. But when I picked up the glasses I immediately commented that they felt weird, but I thought it was because they were a slightly different prescription to the last ones. However after 2 weeks I am still struggling and the worst thing is the mid vision (ie for computer usage which is part of my job) is appallingly bad. I am suffering from headaches every day. Went to complain, but have to see the manager, and I will have to wait for a week… Read Full Review
