“ruined wedding dress”

Please avoid this shop! I wish I had listened to the advice given to me before my wedding. I went to mirror mirror three month before my wedding. It was a short engagement, so I understood that I wouldn't have so many dresses to choose from. One of the dresses I tried was a size 14. The shop insisted that they could alter the dress to my size (8-10). They suggested all sorts of wonderful alterations and so I went ahead and bought the dress. As it was a sample, I had to pay all at once. As I was concerned with the amount of alterations necessary, I emailed them. The response was to reassure me that they are talented professionals who had done far more complicated work. To cut a long story short, they completely butchered the dress. It was lopsided, the neckline and backline were completely different to the dress I had fallen in love with. I showed a picture of the dress to a seamstress, who was shocked by their poor quality work. I had absolutely no choice but to find another dress. Sadly, with 3 weeks to go, it ended up being a high street dress from Ghost. It was glaringly obvious that they had messed up. I paid £550 for alterations which were either not done, or done so appallingly, I could have done a better job. After months of emails and me threatening legal action, I finally got my £550 back, and half the value of the dress. I wanted to give the dress to charity, but they kept it! The whole experience was really stressful. The owners were horrendously rude as soon as the dress was purchased. I was warned that they became horrible as soon as they had your money. But this was an understatement! Avoid this shop at all costs!

“gorgeous dresses and accessories!”

I went to the Angel branch and the assistant there was so lovely. The dresses were fab and although I ended up purchasing a vintage frock onlime, I couldn't resist the accessories! I bought a floral headpiece by Dolecka and it was perfect- really delicately made and presented in a beautiful box which I will treasure. They're not cheap but it's handmade, and it really added that 'special something' to my look on my big day :) Recommended!

“Do not purchase Dolecka Jewellery ”

Went into Mirror Mirror looking for Bridal accessories, I ended up ordering jewellery from Dolecka Bridal accessories which is stocked in Mirror Mirror. My order was late, and my necklace was not what I ordered, when I asked her to rectify this error, she knowledged that she had made the error with an ‘oops sorry!’ but was not willing to do anything about it. I had also asked for the chain of the necklace to be a certain length, it wasn’t and when I asked them to swap it for a longer one she suggested I add an extension or buy a new one (in which I had to use plyers to adjust myself), the products are over-priced and they use cheap materials. They made me pay up front for the items before I saw it, I was not allowed to return it and so I ended up paying for items I was not happy with (and in the necklace’s case- not what I ordered), she didn’t care and wiped her hands clean of any responsibility. In the end, I had jewellery for my wedding that I was not satisfied with. Terrible customer service, and I would avoid supporting this business at any cost.

“Dreadful and rude customer service”

Rude staff that make you feel guilty for trying on the dresses. They know how to dampen what should be an uplifting experience. Don't go here! Typical snotty wedding shop you should avoid.

Can't believe this shop has been given negative comments. I have just purchased my dream dress from them at short notice and they have gone out of there way to accommodate me. Mirror Mirror was recommended to me by a friend which was very reassuring. I had little idea of what I was looking for but remember it to be one of the most exciting days of my life! We were met by such warm and helpful staff, full of ideas and full of enthusiasm! the dress was staring straight at me, I knew immediatley that I had gone to the right place! Being an expatriate living overseas, I didnt think it would be at all easy to arrange fittings and adjustments around my schedule. I could'nt fault a thing! Mirror Mirror made me feel like a princess, my dress was absolutely stunning! My advice, if you are looking for the perfect dress and stress free experience,visit Mirror Mirror, Angel branch.

“Extremely efficient, friendly and they had 'my' dress”

I had my first appointment (with my Sister) in Mirror Mirror Crouch End in early March and spotted my dress the minute I walked in the door. I discounted all the puffy dresses so that left half the collection to choose from.....I knew the look I wanted so it was either a yes or no, which I guess made my life and the sales assistant's job a bit easier. If you don't have an idea of what you want I think it's very hard for someone else to tell you! After trying on about 4 dresses which I really liked the look of, I saved the best one till last....I don't think the assistant had it zipped up when I knew this was the dress. I found the service really friendly, buying a wedding dress is so scary (and I work in the fashion industry!) but I was put a ease here and was put under no pressure to buy or make a decision straight away. I went back 2 weeks later with my sister and Mum, tried the dress on again and paid the deposit. I got a call sometime in April to say my dress had arrived and to make an appointment for my first fitting. The first fitting was a pleasure, about 1cm had to be taken off the length, otherwise it was perfect. I'm going for my final fitting next week and collecting my dress for my wedding on the 31st Aug All in all I found Mirror Mirror very friendly, efficient and am very, very happy with the service I received, I really could not fault it....I thought their range covered a range of styles to suit different tastes and I really don't understand some of the bad reviews saying staff were unfriendly.......it's like we were in different stores! I'd happily recommend the Crouch End store to friends - but in general do your research on the look you want and it will make your life easier when your confronted with a boutique full of expensive white/ivory dresses Enjoy

“Worst wedding shop in London”

I have been to a number of wedding dress shops in London, and this is by far the worst. Poor range of dresses, assistants are very unhelpful, no separation between brides - so you were stood literally a meter apart from another bride both in wedding dresses. After explaining what I was looking for in a lenghty conversation before booking an appointment and being told "I think we have a number of things we can show you" I had to fight to try on a couple of dresses at my appointment. I was in the shop for less than 30 minutes. I felt the service I received was appalling, I will not be returning and I council you not to bother going - there are much better places out there.

“Uninspiring dress collection and stuffy shop - crouch end”

Arrived for 5pm appointment and was asked what type of style dress I was looking for, after describing this I was then told 'well on you go and have a look'. I was given a brief description of each of the designers and then left to rake through the dresses there with another bride and her party also looking through at the same time. The shop is quite small and there was not that much space to look through particularly with another bride party there at the same time. I also wasn't sure what the point was in asking me what I was interested and and then leaving me to find some dresses myself. This was my 3rd appointment in a bridal shop and perhaps having found a dress I really liked earlier in the day affected my feelings of the dress selection but it really felt uninspired and rather 'average'. I genuinely didn't see any dress which caught my eye as a bit different or that I was particularly excited to try on. The shop assistant did then pick out one for me that was worth trying on but overall was disappointed that there was not more choice. I also felt that she was rather tired with it being the last appointment of day and would probably advise to book earlier appointment with this shop (I did have a 3pm appointment originally but they emailed to say someone else got it before I confirmed it). Overall not a bad shop but definitely not the best and have had much better customer service elsewhere

“Got the dress of my dreams!”

I had no problems at all getting my appointment booked and always got a call back if I left message, upon arriving for my first Ever dress apt I was taken aback at how the store was laid Out and how much choice they had. I enjoyed my First experience with a lady called Melody (Angel Branch) And found my dream dress in that first visit. Wonderful collections and professional service!

Mirror Mirror offers a fantastic service. I chose one of their beautiful couture dresses, so the whole thing was made for me. The advice that I received when first choosing a dress was great- really helpful and not at all pushy. Then when I'd decided on the dress, there was a series of fittings with the designer, making sure that everything was going to be just perfect...and it was! Everyone was wowed by the dress, including me and my husband! Beautiful dresses, fantastic service...what more could you ask for?

“Very disappointing”

I was so excited to go to Mirror Mirror after hearing so many good things about it, I didn't even mind paying the £25 booking fee as I hoped to find my dream dress. However, my experience was very disappointing. I arrived at my 5pm appointment and was kept waiting for a while. I didn't mind this too much as it gave me the opportunity to have a little look around. However, when the assistant finally came she really rushed me, despite being late herself, as if they were just about to shut. She didn't really listen to what I wanted, choosing just one style of dress, and then declaring, after I had tried on about 4, there wasn't anything more and I could look at a different Mirror Mirror store if I wanted to. Despite this dreadful service, I went back when buying my veil as I though the accessories store looked pretty and well stocked. I ordered a veil and, when I was in the store, a girl came in as she had received a call saying her veil was in store. They couldn't find her veil and said they would have to reorder. This was quite worrying but I went through with my order anyway and paid the £240 up front. I was told it would take a couple of months to come in. I phoned back 4 months later as my wedding was approaching and I hadn't heard from them. They had no record of my order and said that it hadn't been made. I was so glad I had kept the receipt to prove that I had bought it. She said that she would reorder the veil but I still have not heard back so am thinking about cancelling the order and trying to find another veil with just a few weeks to go. Very disappointing experience.

“Poor customer service!”

Re CrouchE branch:had an hour appointments at 5pm though appt started late because of the customer before.I was served by a girl.She seemed polite but would not stop talking and constantly lectured me rather than allow me to choose the dresses I wanted to try on.Before long I was told I had time to try on one more dress even though we had time left and started late.When I said something was told it was company policy.Another customer with another sales assistant was still trying on dresses when I left and her appt was at 5pm too! Utterly disappointed...poor understanding of the customer!

“Good selection, friendly staff”

I was very lucky to find my dress in Mirror Mirror which I loved, my friend recommended them to me and I found they had a very good selection. Funnily enough I didn't pick the dress out myself, the lady helping me suggested it and at first looks I didn't like it at all, but on it was beautiful. I never would have found it without her help. I found the staff all very helpful, the thing I liked about this boutique was the lack of snobbery, people were friendly rather than precious. Some other boutiques I went to were not so friendly and the dresses were treated as people which was pretty ridiculous and does not really help the bride relax in making a pretty huge decision! Overall I would say it was a well stocked boutique with good dresses and accessories. The place could do with a spruce to make it look a bit more inviting but the dress is the most important thing! Thank you to all the staff

“bad service ”

I had an appointment booked a few weeks in advance for the Angel store. On arrival there was a power cut which was of no fault of the shop. They told me i would not be able to view the dresses as it was too dark but would call me to reschedule-that was over 6 weeks ago and i have still not heard a thing, hows that for service. Also i had my baby daughter with me and was told by one of the shop staff they do not allow babies and was asked was i not told this when making the appointment. No i was not nor was it mentioned during the numerous emails going back and forth. The reason i was not allowed to bring my daughter was "we had a baby the other day who pooed and stunk the whole shop out" how very pleasant. Even if they did contact me i would not return as i was made to feel very uncomfortable and it was not a pleasant experience.

The work the ladies at Mirror Mirror did in changing my Pronovias dress into a bespoke work of art was simply amazing. I can't thank them enough for the time and energy put into it - and my advice to other brides is the trust in what they are saying! “Worst Boutique Experience.. I left early!”

I booked my appointment via email 2 weeks prior and arrived on time. I had one appointment earlier that day so this was my 2nd appointment ever trying on bridal gowns. I was eventually let in the store by a distracted sales assistant who asked me to sit at a desk with a laptop whilst she assisted another bride and 3rd bride had also just arrived. All the sales assistance seemed busy and distracted and made me feel like I was 'in the way'. Eventually someone suggested that I look around. I didn't know what I was looking for as I was new to all this! She didn't give any indication of what dresses were where or asked me what I was looking for. About 5 mins later, an assistant came to my rescue but didn't seem knowledgeable. Her default answer was 'There's a wider range in our Crouch End Store'. She simply watched as I sieved through then said 'we have more downstairs' to which the other sales assistant dealing with the 3rd bride abruptly interrupted, 'I'm downstairs with this customer'. Not only unnecessary but also inappropriate and unprofessional. With 10 mins wasted, a unenthused sales assistant, an overcrowded and stuffy 'boutique' and in tears, I decided it was time to leave, without trying anything on. A very different experience to the one I had that morning. Not the kind of experience any bride deserved to have. Maybe they should book more efficiently to ensure every bride as equal attention and service. Maybe I'll have better luck at their Crouch End branch.
