We were a party of two adults and two four year old girls, we arrived at about 15:45; to find that many tables were dirty, not yet cleaned and reset, they remained like this for nearly an hour and only when there was a change of waitress did we see some serious catch up and she was very annoyed that it had all been left for her to arrive to. We asked the original waitress for two large Pepsi's and two small ones for the 4 year olds the waitress dumped four large glasses on the table without a… Read Full Review

First visited a few years back and was well impressed then by service , food and family friendliness.
Last two visits however have been a disappointment.
Menu - strangely incomprehensible All these sauces, sides, options look wonderful but in reality definitely less choice now
Food- OK I suppose but not as well cooked and presented as before. The free salad bowl was good for choice and tastiness.
Service - polite and perfunctory
Hygiene- Clean and feels safe
Other- realised in the car home that… Read Full Review

Starters took 50 minutes to arrive.
nachos were burnt and had to be sent back.
melon starter consisted of a few squares of melon and a strawberry, nothing like the write-up on the menu.
Main course: one meal returned as burnt. Two other chicken meals dry, and unappetising.
staff did not provide cutlery, had to go an ask… Read Full Review

Feel totally conned by this place. Upon entering was told that our table would be 15-15 mins even though there were plenty of empty tables. Went to the bar and paid £5.50 for two pints. Nothing unusual in that I hear you say. Except one of the pints was soda and lime. £2.25 for water with lime cordial. Sown to our table right after buying drinks whereby we were informed that there was no chicken at all! Almost 50% of the menu unavailable. As ir was a midweek I didn;t want to pay a tenner for a… Read Full Review

absolutely disgusted with this venue, food was horrible, burnt and presented really badly. after complaining to the manager we agreed a refund would be best, upon the manager having possession of my credit card it was left unattended in a card machine where anybody may have walked up and took it then could have used it to commit any form of fraud… Read Full Review

The service was APPALLING and I really do mean absolutely awful. We were told we had to wait 10 minutes for a table, when the whole restaurant was empty! After being shown to our table, it took 20 minutes to give us 2 empty pint glasses followed by another 20 minutes to take our order. Although this was the case they brought over the food within 10minutes. The steak was chewy and the jack daniels sauce was basically a syrup.
Even the table behind us had problems, as I overhead one of them… Read Full Review

Friendly staff, but really confusing menu, and poor value - I had the sweet potato burger, which was just served on it's own on a large empty looking plate, it didn't taste of much and was oily, for £5.50 I would have expected a little garnish! Although this place is right near my office, don't think I'll be back soon… Read Full Review

It may not be just the food that gets cooked at this Harvester you the customer may get burned as well. We visited at lunchtime on Tuesday 29th March 2011 and haly way through our meal a full fire alarm sounded and the staff didnt seem to know what to do and made no action to evacuate the building or had little idear of fire safety training and awareness. So if you have people you LOVE and CARE about maybe treat them to a meal somewhere else as this company really dont seem to have much idear… Read Full Review

I don't go very often. The one closest to me is Wilford, next to a bus stop and a busy road (It's convenient when I go into Nottingham, because I just get a bus, get off, walk a hundred meters, go to Harvester, walk a hundred meters and get a bus). It's never majorly busy, so you get seated within minutes. You get a great selections of cold drinks and beers. Service is great nine times out of 10, the only one out of 10 is when it's busy. You order off the HUUUUGE menu, covering fillet of beef… Read Full Review

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant! We always go before we're due to fly, just before we drive to the airport if it's a later flight or the night before if it is early. It's just a tradition really. But we also go for special occasions. I went for my friends birthday a few weeks back for the first time this year, but we are going again for mothers day.
First of all the atmosphere is really nice. There is a nice cosy log fire, a really friendly warm sense about the place and nice decorations… Read Full Review

I have been a few times to this restaurant. It is a waste of time! Nearly everything is twice cooked and stale. It is time that Harvester apologised to the people of Amesbury and to those people who stop on their way to the West Country on the A303. I felt insensed when I saw an advert recently in the national press offering such wonderful food. It seems to have missed Amesbury!… Read Full Review

have tried harvesters before and usually good value unfortunately my last experience has totally put me off and I won't be going back, a shortage of staff, mediocre food, cheap cuts of meat only half of it edible and it would have been easier for the waitress to tell us what was available rather than the long list of what was'nt, a simple thing like english mustard not avaiable. Manager unable to do anything saying that this was head office policy. Take my advice and don't go to a harvester our… Read Full Review

Our first time in the Harvester and would never go back.
We were recommended it as a nice evening meal and was very disappointed in the quality of the food.
We ordered the combo and a portion of garlic dough balls. I had steak and ribs and my partner had gammon and ribs. Everything tasted as if it was heated in the microwave. And the dough balls were like eating rocks. DO NOT GO!… Read Full Review

We have rarely had a good meal here and are getting fed up with it and starting to question why we go back. Its local for us and the only harvester around for many miles. We complained hugely a few months back and a manager was put in to cover and things improved. Latest visit last week was appalling. We can only assume the chips were left over from lunch (we ate around 1800hrs) the fish we can only assume was twice cooked. The batter which was a scarey dark brown had to be removed and the… Read Full Review

My first experience of a Harvester restaurant and the one I went to (Bell and Barge, Rugby) was truly awful. The service was extremely rude and the staff very anti children (why have a children's menu if you don't want them there?) and the quality of the food was absolutely appalling. It's close proxity to the (excellent) Premier Inn next door can be the only reason for going here in my opinion… Read Full Review

Oh dear. Something has gone radically wrong here.
For many years our foursome has enjoyed regular lunches at the Dun Cow. Nice atmosphere, good food, great service and exceptional value. But not now. Our last two visits, one in November 2010 and again in January 2001, have witnessed a dramatic detereoration in all aspects. There seem to have been savage cutbacks and it shows. Whereas previously there was little to criticise, there is now nothing to recommend.
Stay away until further notice… Read Full Review

Absolutely terrible. Rude, disinterested staff. Cold food. Miserable salad bar. Two of our party were ill shortly after eating their meal. I really thought the days of eating out in places like this were over. There is clearly a lack of staff training from chef through to waiting staff. No idea how to cook or present and serve food… Read Full Review

A group of us have a meal out once a year and last year enjoyed reasonable food and service at this Arnos Grove Harvester and decide to go back last weekend.
The change was dramatic.
The table had been laid for our group but was so sticky and dirty we couldn't touch it. Repeated requests to have it wiped were ignored. The meals came without the corn on the cob, just the meat and chips. The half rack of ribs was tiny, the chicken was small and shrivelled. None of us enjoyed the meal and will… Read Full Review
