“My mother waited in a very small queue of about 6...”

Written on: 07/05/2010

My mother waited in a very small queue of about 6 people for over 15 minutes. The tables were dirty and left dirty and full of crockery for the whole hour that we were in the cafe. I emailed marks and spencer and they say they are "very sorry". Not good enough! You expect better service and hygiene from marks and spencer… Read Full Review

unfortunateley at pudsey they are greatly understaffed and the staff who do work in the coffee shop do a brilliant job with the staff they have. I am a regular customer at Pudsey and the staff are really friendly and do not get the praise and thanks they deserve. Please stop your whinging they can not work any harder and it doesnt help when people are constantly moaning, dont like it go somewhere else!!!

If the staff aren't there, they aren't there. It's not poor service if there is a shortage of staffing; it's poor staffing levels: don't confuse people doing their best in a difficult situation with people not pulling their weight. Try working a shift in one of these places before you start whining and emailing.

Written on: 18/02/2010

I've worked at M&S in Sheffield before and came to Cambridge for the day. I encountered brilliant service despite it being a busy weekend, The young man who brought out my toastie was very sweet and he made us welcome. The coffee was also very nice and professionally made. Although i was served politely there was an argument going on between two of the ladies in the back area which provided comedy. Wouldnt like to do the job they do especially with the manager they had that day. overall a lot… Read Full Review

I always make the effort to go up to the top floor and meet the friendly cafe staff during my weekend shopping, sure it's busy, but that is the sign of something good, coffee is excellently produced each time and the lad at the till always engages with the customer which is very invigorating in todays ethos of take money and leave.

Thoroughly great service, fantastic staff, and good all round experience… Read Full Review

My wife and I each had a "toastie" in Marks and Spencer's Coffee Shop today (£3.50 each) and they were rubbish! Two thick slices of white bread, a wafer-thin slice of tasteless ham and a wafer-thin slice of flavourless Cheddar cheese. What a disappointment! For that price I expected something far more tasty and delicious reflecting the high standards on which M.&S.prides itself. You can be sure that we will not be paying a return visit!… Read Full Review

Whilst visiting m&s in Pudsey i was pleasantly surprised to find they had 2 coffee shops, I visited the lower ground cafe to find a small queue which was dealt with in good time. I opted for a toasted-t cake and a large mocha, I was asked if i wanted cream on my mocha which i thought was a nice option. The staff were very polite but there did not seem to be enough staff as the tables were quie full and messy. overall my visit to Pudsey was very nice just one moan not enough staff, but the… Read Full Review

“Marks and Spencer's Coffee Shop does not have enough...”

Written on: 26/04/2009

Marks and Spencer's Coffee Shop does not have enough tea time snacks for diabetics. We are usually going to have meal in evening. I can have cake or sticky bun. Only choice for my husband is a cheese scone - gets a bit monotonous. Can't we have at least toast on offer or variety of breads. Crisps too much salt and fat… Read Full Review

“Iced bun for a £1 - delicious ”

Written on: 26/04/2009

Iced bun for a £1 - delicious
Ambient surrounding.
Open late - especially at tea time when other cafes shut down.
Newspapers to read. Wide, thick lipped cups therefore coffee gets cold too quickly, and it's like putting bricks into your mouth. Not enough newspapers to read - waiting like hawks for someone to finish their paper! Lovely buns! Nice staff. Marks and Spencer's Coffee Shop open until late. Coffee o.k. (not brilliant)… Read Full Review

Written on: 17/12/2008 by ronjo (1 review written)

Not enough gluten free choice. I have coeliac disease and my sister is also coeliac and diabetic. Being diabetic she has to eat when sugar levels drop. On one occasion there were no g/f muffins and no pieces of cake (which is the sum total of gluten free!!!) I asked to speak to a manager and asked if I purchased a cake from downstairs bakery or something gluten free and sweet from confectionery could I give it to my sister (diabetic and coeliac remember). The answer was no, not allowed. I… Read Full Review

Their product offer in terms of price, quality and convenience are nothing more or nothing less of what I would expect from any of the coffee shops up and down the country. Their customer service however, was very poor and the speed of delivery was attrocious… Read Full Review

Oh so slow. Why? There seem enough staff at the marks & Spencer's Coffee Shop in Cheltenham, but they seem to have their own priorities, and these do not include being properly organised to serve you quickly. Some M&S Coffee Shops sell gluten free, but some don't… Read Full Review

I found this review very helpful because... I agree!. I love M&S coffee shops, and I've been to quite few, but the service rates from slow but polite, to slow enough to walk away and go somewhere else despite the quality of the coffee and cake.
<br/>Does any one, by the way have the recepie for the M&S cafe victoria sponge? it is a Seriously good cake.

Written on: 02/02/2004 by dinahdoll (12 reviews written)

We had a really good cup of creamy latte in Marks & Spencers Coffee Shop in Aylesbury,Bucks on Saturday. In fact it was one of the best we had ever had. However, our only complaint they had Radio 1 blasting out really loud, in fact, it was so loud, you could not hold a conversation!! This was vey unusual for Marks as they normally do not play music in their cafes. I do not mind a little background music, but this was really beyond a joke!!… Read Full Review
