Rude customer service. Orders take forever 2 arrive. If you try cancelling an order Mott's turns it into a nightmare where u end up contesting the charge the bankcard. Motts is not custumer friendly. Rather they r a smarmy bunch to stay away from.

“Rude customer service ”

My first order was summer last year. I ordered 2 sets of Bespaq sofas. Apparently something was wrong with my Credit Card and they charged an additional fee. Then I only got 1 set delivered without any comment. 2. order was December. I asked them nicely to contact me if one or more pieces I had selected were not availible, before sending anything. 2 days later my order was cancelled because of my rude and inapropriate request. Definately not bothering with them again.

“If only I could give zero stars. ”

I’m not sure I understand how this company is in business. I ordered a Bespaq sofa and chair that was on the website. Soon after I received a confirmation email and then right after that, I received an email saying my payment didn’t go through and to re process the order. It was less than an hour after my order was “confirmed” but the item was mysteriously gone from the website so I tried to write an inquiry through their website. Well the website didn’t put my inquiry through so I sent an email instead. Well you’d have thought I committed a felony based on their response. I was accused of violating the sales contract by emailing them with questions on an order. The wording was horribly accusatory and rude. I was stunned when I read the email. Absolutely flabbergasted and stunned. Day over and I let it go. Tonight, two weeks later, I received another rude and condescending email telling me I violated the sales contract by asking for a refund. WHAT? I never asked for a refund because my payment didn’t process!? It’s all just too bizarre and like nothing I’ve ever experienced as a customer. I understand the current owner to the grandson of the founders. Those founders are spinning in their graves at how their reputation is being sullied and how the miniature community is being treated by this idiot.

I had the EXACT same experience and rude emails, verbatim! Not only that but one order that did go through delivered an item that I never ordered while missing others. You are NOT allowed to question shipping process. You can’t reach anyone EVER and when they do respond to email inquiries the response is as if you’ve committed a felony. What the heck is going on there? I suspect the owner sold to unsavory people in some back room in China. They’re virtuously anonymous, deliberately.

“Stay away”

I placed an order and heard nothing back to confirm. I inquired and they kept sending me prescripted rude emails about how I didnt do the order correctly. When I tried to fix they just kept sending the same prescripted email.Not worth the trouble at all. Stay away.

“Odd Customer Service, But happy with products!”

I was really worried about my order when I got a weird google message attached to the confirmation of my order, saying that Google could not confirm the message was not spam. I emailed the company, and the reply said: The terms of the sales contract state that customers are not to call or email us to check the status of their order. They said to check your link to your order, but it really told me nothing about when my order would arrive. I do think it is odd that you cannot email to check on your order status. I got worried after reading some very unflattering reviews, but I am happy to say I did receive my items less than weeks after placing my order, but honestly it was worth the wait...the patio umbrella from German and the fancy ceramic brackets were both really awesome. I would order from them again.

I tried to order discontinued Bespaq screen. Contacted customer service before buying, asking if the item is in-stock. I was answered thet "read the web page correctly" and that all items are in-stock if they are on the site. "Hello, to assist you we went to our free, public, self service web site on your behalf and read it for you. While reading the web site we did find this item number listed, so you can place an order for it at this time. Thank you," After placing an order and filling in my credit card information, I received email that item was out of stock and" please look at the site for replacement items! " I do not want replacement! I want them to cancel order and remove my card information!!! Very rude customer serfice, do not buy from them! Here is the message that I got from them. Remember. Items are discontinued and impossible to order. " Hello, We see that you have made a false statement. We have NEVER said that all items are in stock. The instructions on our web site state that no one is ever to ask if an item is in stock or not. If someone violates the terms of the sales contract and asks if an item is in stock, and the item appears on our web site, our standard answer is to state that the item can be ordered. Hello, We just received the violation message shown below. The instructions on the contact form you used to send your message stated never to use any customer number, invoice number or order number in your message. But for some reason you did. Violation messages automatically are sent to spam. Fortunately for you we occasionally review the spam folder for any violation messages. Hello, We just received the incomplete message shown below. The terms of the sales contract state that when contacting us that the customer is to send us their name, address, city, state, zip and order date. We are unable to find the information in the message required by the contract. The terms of the sales contract state that customers are not to all or email us to check the status of their order but are only to log in to their accounts on the web site to read their order status. Here is a link that will take you back to the log in link that can be found on the bottom of every shopping page of the web site... ____________ Information regarding how orders are processed, and how customers are to calculate their own delivery time estimate is part of the terms of the sales contract posted on the web site that all customers have read, understood and agreed to before using the web site or placing an order. To see this information again so that you can again calculate your delivery time estimate, here is a link that will take you back to that page of the site... _______________ Tracking The sales contract states that when a shipment goes out that the customer will receive an email from their carrier if the customer chose a shipping option with tracking and provided a valid email address. To see again information on how customers can track their packages, here is a link that will take you back to that page of the site... _______________ We hope this helps." It was 1 message, filled with several small messages (copypasted) Now they say that I violated the terms and conditions of their site. They refused to cancel order and I had to contact my bank and block my card to protect myself.

“Avoid these people! ”

Made a small purchase, hey said my credit card was expired. They sent me an email that was scathing wi a phone number. I called for four days, finally someone answered and said they were sales and couldn't help. Now I am getting phone calls threatening to send me to collections for items they never shipped sayi I breached the cutback fact! What contract? Now they want me to send them a check (yes a personal check) or money order indpcludong all kinds of fees. I looked up reviews on this company and here are hundreds out there saying the same thing. Either way, stay away!

“Please do not purchase from this retailer!!!”

I placed an order with a pre-paid Visa, knowing that after shipping costs, I'd need to put the balance on a second card. Well the order went through with only one form of payment. Knowing I still owed about $2.50, I emailed the company to ask if there was a number I could call to remit payment. I got a scathing email scolding me for having the audacity to put my order number in the subject line. Shame on me! They then sent an automated email advising me that they reserved the right to send my account to a collection agency unless I called and made payment. Side note - this email included my order number in the subject line. Originally I'd have paid the difference and went on my way but I was so incensed by their rude, condescending emails I told them to cancel the order altogether. Then they replied that my order was non-cancelable (is that even a word?) and that they would be sending my account to collections. Still don't know what for - I received no products so what am I being charged for? I am being send to collections yet they never even billed me? This is insane! Now I have to worry that a creditor is going to come looking for money for products I never even took ownership of? I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone. Avoid at all costs. I've already filed complaints with the FTC and the CA Attorney General. Honestly this person has no business selling anything to consumers.

I just had the same experience. They to,d me my credit card was wrong spired then gave me a phone number that no one answered. When I finally got someone he said he was sales. Then I started getting phone calls threatening to send me to collections. Now they want me to send them a personal check or mo he order for the amount of the order (under $20) but with added fees and service charges. I think this guy is either some kind of special stupid or some kind of smart sham.

“Mott's sucks!!!”

This is the worse shopping experience I ever had. I purchased a mini chandelier and a set of lights for a dollhouse. I tried to get an update on my order, but I got instead the worse customer service I ever had. Those people are absolutely crazy, bad mannered, rude, and try to scare customers using bad applied legal terminology. I read some of the positive reviews listed on this site and the writings look very similar. I would not be surprised this company is reviewing itself using different IP addresses.

Our company placed a order for windows and turned out we ordered the wrong size and wanted to exchange it for the correct size. Was willing to pay the restocking and freight cost, since this is a mistake on our part. I took 5 weeks of emailing them for a RMA, before I got a reply to do the exchange, in between I called the store to do the return over the phone, and willing to pay the extra fee for not doing the return via email. I got no where with the person that answered the phone, and was told to just send in the request as a email. After 5 weeks I finally received a reply, and got their RMA Request form, reading the 'fine print' they specially state you may NOT add tracking to the package or signature confirmation to you return package, or you void the return request. Basically, you have believe them when they tell you that they haven't received the returned items, and you have no way of proving if they lying. My company is going back to our original vendor for our next lot of windows, we're paying an extra $5 a window but the customer service at this point is worth it. I have rarely dealt with this level of rude customer service.

They do not ship product. When the customer calls, they threaten legal action for violating the "terms and conditions" of sales which they claim say that customers may not call to ask about their shipment.

“Intimidating Fraudulent Busines Practices”

I placed an internet order to MiniShop.com for a dollhouse console table and called following day to confirm. They did not have the merchandise in stock nor did they know if they could get it, so I cancelled my order. Subsequently, I placed an order elsewhere and received the merchandise and it was exactly as pictured and described. Surprisingly,3 weeks later I received my cancelled order, but the dollhouse table was very poorly done, like a factory second. When I contacted Mott’s, they claimed I never cancelled, however they do not accept cancelled internet orders of any kind--Read their pages and pages of order/return policies. So I requested an RMA with a REQUIRED tentative new order that must total more than the initial order. He was trying to eschew my contacts with him because he has this 'must contact within 3 days policy' and wouldn't turn on his FAX machine or confirm their number! Then this creep sent me two 'Violations Message' emails threatening to spam me along with a FTC warning against sharing this email with anyone else. The section of the regulations he quotes has to do with intercepting live wire tapping by a third party. A few days later, he sent me his RMA, which I’m supposed to sign. It was a document requiring me to relinquish all my rights while totally exonerating him! The terms stated were these: 50% refund only (not inc. the other handling fees he has in his return policies); no refund on shipping; must pay to ship back his merchandise, which I did; and must accept factory defected merchandise, which would be lying about my reason for return, so I wouldn't be able fight the charge with the credit card company. I figured I would be getting back about $17 refund out of the $80 originally 'spent' on my previously cancelled order--not to mention the additional new order he requires!! The credit card co. stood behind me and got my money back. Nobody can force you to buy merchandise that is 'not as described.' I wish I had read the scores of horrible reviews before because what others say further describes my experience with Mott's. I would rate them a Zero. STAY AWAY!!

“Horrible customer service”

I was excited when I first found Mott's website. My 10 year old daughter is just starting to put finishing details on her dollhouse and this company had Mott's had some harder to find items at reasonable prices. So I place my order on December 3rd. The gift will be hers from "Santa" as one of the items is especially hard to find. When I placed the order, I paid for ground shipping. Should be - for any other company out there - a reasonable enough time to get the package by Christmas! At no time was I told my order was "special order" and at no time during the ordering process was I notified that it would take over 2 weeks just to package and ship the product. No, I found this out by logging on to the website 12days after I placed the order. My order is listed as a "special order" and "should ship" by December 20th. What?!? That's only 3 shipping days before Christmas this year! To make matters worse, there is no way to call and contact a real person. You have to e-mail any requests. Ok. So I did. My e-mail was replied to as a scolding. Silly me! Don't include an order number when you want to check the update of your order! "Lucky for me" they happen to check their spam folder. But still no help because I didn't provide my full name email address and shipping address. Oh, and a note to not even bother emailing if your order is under two weeks old, and there is a link to page on their site detailing this. Sure, now you tell me, after they have my credit card but NOT when I placed the order. Well, I hope they find my order the next time I contact them! I will be canceling the order and looking for products elsewhere. Paying extra to have your items "processed more quickly" - that is, paying extra to have your items shipped within a two week time frame is absolutely ludicrous! At least let me know as they are placing the order. I started to wonder if they are even a legitimate company u til I found these other reviews. Buyer beware!

“Order not placed”

My husband placed an order on 12/2/12. Item not received, so called them on 12/23/12, got a major run around and no response on where order was. On 1/2/13, received order, which was not even PLACED by them until 12/26/12. They just lost a customer.

“haven't received the product”

I made an order August 30. Mid September I made and inquiry to get my shipping number because I had not received the product. I, too, received a rude response that I included my order number and apparently my message went to spam. I corrected the "mistake" and re-sent the request only to get another return email that I didn't include what type of shipping I requested. So I corrected that "mistake" and to date September 25th, I still don't have a shipping number so that I may contact UPS. It has now been almost a month. I still don't have my product and little if any communication from Minishop.

“I love Mott's”

First, I am sad that Mott's no longer has a brick & mortar store because it was fun the one or two times I visited a few years ago to see the actual products and I wish, now that I'm building a doll house, that I could still do that. However, I enjoy their newletters which always entice me to browse their website. They also provide a lot of information & good books for construction guidance. I love the history of the Mott family & am also sad that Knott's Berry Farm's new owner got rid of the Mott's display. A year or so ago I started building a dollhouse for my granddaughter - and now that I'm "into" building doll houses I'd sure love to go see the many fantastic things made by the Mott family over the years. I like to buy from them because they are "local" and because I love their story. Their prices are really good & everything I've ordered from them is always delivered timely & correctly.

If I were able to I would change my review from 5 stars to 1 based on the bizarre interactions that occur with this company when you have a problem. I've purchased several 100$s of items from them. Yes they have good selection, prices & fast shipment. However, if you ask them a question (via email or phone) they respond in a very rude manner. The worst issue occurred after I left my review & received my $5 coupon code. I for some reason was unable to complete my order online, and thus called in a phone order. When I tried to use my coupon code they said it could only be used online. So I told the guy to hold off on the order & I would try again on line. I successfully completed the online order & used the coupon code. When my order arrived, they had charged me a $5 restocking fee for the "phone order" thus negating my $5 coupon. When I emailed them to complain, I received the same type of email complained about in some of the other reviews - rude, bizarre, etc. Essentially they said I had to write a letter & send it via US Mail (interesting since they were so hot for "on line" when I tried to use my coupon). Their email also outlined other rather bizarre requirements (to meet the requirements of their sales contract...). I sent them a letter & they have not responded. It's only $5. No - it's the principal.

“VERY slow shipping and rude response to inquiry”

Very disappointed - Motts used to be great. Since they're in CA and I'm in AZ, thought the items needed for my new miniature creation would be obtained fairly quickly. Wondering where they were, I contacted them by email and received a rude response that I had included my order number ( heavens, no!) and that caused it to wind up in their spam - and I was just 'lucky they checked'....etc. Finally got on the site and found the order, and they state it will 'probably' ship (UPS ground for 9.00 for a two tiny items)17 DAYS after I paid for it. I call that terrible customer service, and I won't be ordering again.

Customer placed a non-rush, ground-shipped, special order. Shipping days, weekends and holidays do not count in order processing time. Customers non-rush special order was placed on a weekend. This non-rush special order was shipped when it was only 5 business days old. Messages with spam content are sent to a spam folder. Customer did not indicate a desire to pay for air shipping or rush handling fees. Information regarding customers order was available to her through the web site 24/7, cust. did receive emails of shipment notices. Not our fault that customer is highly impatient and also not willing to pay for air shipping.

“Response Time and Variety of Items”

I signed up to receive the online catalog and received it almost immediately. I like the variety of items that they have. I am looking forward to ordering from here in the very near future. I have already put some items in my Wishlist that I created on the website. They have items that I have never seen offered before, and I've been ordering items for my dollhouse for over 30 years!
