“Very handy little device”

written by Terry999 on 13/06/2012

It's so convenient, if you're just looking for something small to throw in your pocket. Great for bringing on the bus, or out for a run. Batter is not brilliant on it, but you learn to live with it I suppose. It's not the only one I have, but it's a handy little one to keep all the same.

I hated the Ipod Mini beacuse the thing froze on me many times. Now it does not work at all, so it stays in my house untouched. I did not like how the screen froze and the good thing was that I could hold all my songs that came from my CD. I did like some of it the games were ok but took up lots of battery. Now I have a new Ipod the new Nano and it works wonders, color screen and more better games and video storage too.

I really do love the iPod series and this has got to be the best iPod Apple have ever made.

The battery life is brilliant, mine lasts about 13 hours now after owning it for 2 years it used to be 18 but I'm considering changing the battery soon anyway,So I'm going to get a few years out of this!

Generally, I do like the iPod Mini more than my iPod Video even though it's old!

“I have a silver iPod Mini which i bought off eBay...”

★★★★★

written by emza2511 on 17/07/2007

I have a silver iPod Mini which i bought off eBay about 6 months ago now and the previous owner had it for at least 18 months before me and its still in a great in great condition!
I have bought a separate case for it to ensure minimal scratching as I use it for work, the gym and carrying around in my bag so it does get bashed around quite a bit but this doesn't deter the sound quality in the slightest and the memory is brilliant. I can hold about 1,500 songs on mine which is more than enough really as I always like to change the music I'm listening to as I have it on 'shuffle songs' a lot, so its nice to get a good mix of different songs. I've also used the alarm on the iPod mini, not the most reliable alarm as for it to work you either have to leave your earphones in to hear it or have the speakers. But then again that's not what this player is made for.
As an Mp3 its top of the range and its understandable why everybody has one these days!
Brilliant!

I've had this iPod since sept 2005 and it gave me great use, I had encounted battery issues but it was fixed quickly by an iPod updater on the apple site that you can get free. I find it very sturdy to the point that my horse stood on it and it didn't even get damaged apart from a teeny nick.

Shame apple discontinued this, its an advantage for those who want small but decent music players that wont break easily as the nano. My mom's buying this off me as I'm purchasing an 30gb video soon :D

“The iPod mini is the best selling iPod in the market....”

★★★★☆

written by Aviv Attias on 25/11/2006

The iPod mini is the best selling iPod in the market. Too bad it got discountinued. Its sound is excellent, many features, 4 GB memory (1000 songs), uses iTunes which is a very good software. It's also very reliable, which means it doesn't break for no reason. Mine is in excellent condition with not one problem and no scratches at all.

People say that the battery is low. But I think 7 hours is enough. It doesn't have a color screen but who cares about the color it's the music that's important.
*Deleting Songs: It means if for example I want to delete from iTunes 50 songs or more, and then I update my iPod mini, it will also delete on the iPod but instead of not being at all in the iPod, the names of the songs stay in the iPod but you can't listen to them.

In overall, I recomend the iPod mini and it's also the best selling iPod and the best MP3 of all.

★★★★★

written by dragondrums on 23/09/2006

I've had this little gem for over a year now and it has never let me down yet. I had read reports that iPods could be unreliable and prone to breaking but in my experience that has not been the case. In spite of frequent use my iPod is as reliable as the day I bought it. The sound quality is excellent with the supplied headphones and is even better with the Sennheiser set I bought. This iPod is so easy to use...everything is managed with a simple scroll or click of the wheel. Organising music is so straightforward that even oldies like myself can manage it.
The only negative comment I could make would be that the battery life could be better but it isn't bad enough to cause any real problems and wouldn't put me off buying another iPod. It's just a shame that Apple are no longer producing this model.

“The Apple iPod Mini is a great MP3 player for anyone....”

★★★★☆

written by e4chin on 27/08/2006

The Apple iPod Mini is a great MP3 player for anyone. I found that they are very durable, and mine did not break. I encountered no problems with it at all, which is why I was very surprised when I saw how many people reviewed it negatively and had problems with it. Granted, the headphones it comes with do deteriorate after a little while, but you can use any headphones with the iPod Mini.

An iPod Mini is especially great for someone who wants an iPod but doesn't want to spend a whole bunch of money on it. They are old so they are cheap. However, they're not being made anymore because they were replaced by the Nano, so they might be difficult to find.

I got mine with about a 6.5% discount off the regular $250 because I bought it through my relative who gets discounts on Apple products. It wasn't much, but it was better than paying the full $250.

The iPod Mini is like a CD player with two major differences:
1)It is smaller and lighter
2)It can hold many more songs than a CD player can, and you don't have to switch out disks. Plus, your music will never skip.

“-: INTRODUCTION :- ”

★★★★★

written by lisa76 on 08/08/2006

-: INTRODUCTION :-

I bought my iPod Mini MP3 player last year. I bought it because I wanted something to listen to while walking to and from work. I needed something small and light to carry in my pocket. I looked around, but I was spoilt for choice. There were so many to choose from, but then I came across the iPod Mini, and I liked it straight away, so I did some checking, and I knew this was the one for me, so I considered it to be bought.

-: WHAT IS AN IPOD? :-

An iPod mini is a music player for listening to audio. Although now, you can buy a variety of iPod's which some have more features to them, like video and colour display etc. The iPod Mini lets you listen to music, upload music from your computer, and it also allows you to play games on it too, although I don't use that feature that much. The iPod Mini doesn't have that many features. It's a standard music player, but I wouldn't change it for the world. The iPod does come in different sizes with different size hard drives too, which makes the world of difference to how many songs you can have on your iPod. The iPod Mini doesn't weigh that much. In fact, it only weighs around 104g, and it is only 3.6 x 2.0 x 0.5 in size, so it is handy for keeping in your pocket or handbag. The battery life is pretty good too! It holds out for about 8 hours of constant play, although the charging of the iPod can take a while.

-: LOOK AND FEEL OF THE IPOD :-

The look and feel of the iPod is clean, tidy and neat. It is a little plain, but it does the job. Looking at the iPod Mini, you have the wheel which lets you guide yourself through the iPod menus, choosing your music, editing settings and playing games. The wheel is white, and it comprises of the menu button, next track, previous track and the play / pause button. Also, at the top of the iPod you have the earphone port, and also a lock which is a little switch which moves from left and right, unlocking and locking the iPod, so when you carry it around in your pocket, it doesn't move the wheel around. Then you have the white backlit black & white 138 x 110 LCD screen. When you leave the iPod idle for a while, the iPod does automatically turn off. It is generally very simple and easy to use. You use the wheel to get you to where you want to go, and the wheel is very smooth to use too.

-: USING THE IPOD :-

In order to upload songs to your iPod, you must have a PC, and have the music to upload. There is a data lead which connects your iPod to your PC, which is supplied in the box. And also the required software, which you have to install. This is easy and simple to do; just run the installation of the iTunes CD and decide where you want it to be installed. It doesn't take long. Once it has been installed, you are then ready to connect your iPod to your computer. Your PC will pick up the iPod as soon as it is connected, and now is the time to begin with adding your tunes with the software you have just installed on your computer. This is also pretty easy to do.

Open up your iTunes software, and then locate the music you want to add to your iPod. You will also notice that there are a bunch of other options within the software; like browsing the shop and radio etc. Anyway, back to the case in hand... Once you have added your music you will see the amount of space used and free at the bottom of your iTunes. This will tell you how much has been used and how much is free. On the left hand-side where the other options are, you will see your iPod icon. Right click on that, and it will give you the option to update your iPod. Clicking this will add your music to your iPod. It's that easy! It doesn't take that long to add your music. In fact, it is pretty quick. I didn't think it would be. The sound is amazing too, where again I didn't think it would be, as the sound comes out of such a small item, but it is really clear.

-: FEATURES :-

Clicking the menu button will allow you to toggle in and out of the menus and options. The middle button will allow you to select an option.

-: MUSIC :-

Clicking the music tab, you will see there is another list of options where you can view the music you have added on your iPod. You can view it either by playlist, by the artist, by the album, songs, genres, composers and audio books. Most of these options will take you onto more options, which are a pain sometimes.

-: SONGS :-

This will take you straight to the songs you have uploaded to your iPod, plain and simple, and it will list each song for you. All you have to do is click play and it will play the songs listed in the songs list.

-: EXTRAS :-

You will find here the CLOCK. Clicking on this tab will take you into another menu with the options of alarm clock, sleep timer, and date and time. It's all simple to set up, and you can have the clock showing on the display or hidden, it's entirely up to you. Next on the list we have CONTACTS. Now this is where you can add your contacts information within your iPod. All you need to do is make a Vcard of your contacts. I have only done this once or twice. What I did, was go into my email client and click on one of my contacts and go down to properties, and then I copied and pasted the Vcard into the contacts within the iPod using the computer. When clicking on the contacts there are simple instructions that you can follow to add the contacts you want. Next we have the CALENDER. This is self-explanatory really. Use it like you would any other calender. Next on the list we have NOTES. I am not sure about this option to be honest as I have never used it, but when you click on this option it does give you instructions on how to use this feature. Next we have GAMES. Now in here you will find some built-in games like brick, music quiz, parachute and solitaire. Like I have mentioned before, I have not really played the games on my iPod, but I am sure they will keep others busy if they like playing games.

-: SETTINGS :-

Clicking the settings option will take you into another menu, where you will see such things like ABOUT - Clicking this will give you a display of your iPod name, how many songs you have on there, the capacity your iPod has, available space left, the version of your iPod, the serial number, the model number and the format, which is quite handy and pretty helpful.
MAIN MENU - clicking this option will again take you into another menu. You will see that you have music on/off, and this gives you an option to have a music tab showing in the main menu or not. The same goes for the other listed in this menu.
SHUFFLE - Clicking this will let you have shuffle on your songs or not.
REPEAT - This is the same option as the shuffle. You can toggle with the settings according to your liking.
BACKLIGHT TIMER - This allows you to toggle with the settings, again to your liking.
EQ - This is an equaliser, and clicking this will take you into another menu and let you set the equaliser to your taste.
SOUND CHECK - This allows you to toggle with the sound with your iPod, and you can choose how you want it to sound.
CONTRAST - This option speaks for itself.
CLICKER - this is an option for toggling the clicker sound when moving around your iPod. You can either have it loud or only have it within your headphones.
DATE & TIME - Again, this is self explanatory.
RESET ALL SETTINGS - This will allow you to reset all the settings on your iPod.

-: AVAILABILITY :-

You can buy this iPod from almost anywhere now. I bought mine from Apple itself, where I paid £140, but that came with a free engraving on the back of the iPod, which was free.

-: FINAL OPINION :-

Like I have mentioned, I like this iPod because it does what it is meant to do. Also, it's small and light for me to carry around with me. The only thing I don't like is the fact that there are so many options and menus, but that's not a reason not to like it. There is more to like about the iPod than not to like. The sounds is great, it's quick on the uploads, and it has never let me down yet. There are also other things you can buy for the iPod Mini, and I recently bought a docking station for it, and it is worth every penny.

Overall the Apple iPod Mini is a very good ipod and I recommend it to all. Another thing, if you have a question or problem and you want to speak to Apple, you end up on the phone to them for over an hour inside a queue, and I still didn't get through so I hung up.

written by emilyjk55 on 13/07/2006

WARNING: THIS IPOD WILL SELF-DESTRUCT IN 5 SECONDS. When it was new it only lasted a few hours but now it will only switch on for a few seconds unless it is plugged into a charger. And a replacement battery is at least £50! I honestly think they time them to self destruct after their warranty has run out so you are forced to buy a new product.

OK well maybe I was a little harsh saying that ipod minis are programmed to self-destruct; I had just expected mine to last a little longer that's all. I would like to point out however that just because yours is still working fine after one year it doesn't mean they all are. Equally just because mine no longer works doesnt mean they all wont work after one year or so. Total battery life depends on how many times the battery is recharged so all ipod batteries can only take a certain number of charges. I can assure you that I cared for my ipod very well!
