“Cancellation fee.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Badasg on 03/02/2022

Today I got a better offer from a different insurance firm and naturally, I rang up to cancel within the 14 day cooling off period. It was the second day of the cooling period and was charged £10. BE WARNED!!! They do charge within the cooling off period. Is this legal?? And yes, I did challenge it.

“Appalling customer service.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 1990Fitch on 12/10/2016

Happy to take your money but very poor customer service if you have a claim. Example, they call on your phone and want you to answer security questions. When you call them, they refuse to answer security questions. They say their preffered repairers have automatic authority to repair if out produce your certificate. No they dont and a week later they say they are waiting for their underwriting department to clear the repair. Get a letter from the underwriting department dated 6 days earlier dekcing to meet the claim because they say I did not tell them I was not the registered keeper. No where on the policy documents or exclus, inks does it mention the policyholder has to be the registered keeper. They say I gave the wrong info to the broker but I didn't even use a broker but did it direct. Total waste of money, time and effort. Avoid this bunch of amateurs like the plague.

“TOTAL RIP OFF MERCHANTS”

★☆☆☆☆

written by margaretgrant on 15/07/2015

We have been with this company for nearly 40 years and trusted we were getting a fair deal with them as this is the so-called ethical company. How wrong were we. We also have home insurance and have been getting ripped off with this too, not to mention the appalling service when we have made a claim. Staff are not at all helpful and very arrogant. Their life insurance is one big rip-off - we were sold a policy 16 years ago which we were told would have a lump sum payment at the end. This they now tell us is worthless - am taking it to Ombudsman as I cannot believe this company can get away with this. DO NOT TOUCH THE COOPERATIVE WITH A BARGE POLE FOR ANYTHING! How I wish there had been publicity about mis-selling years ago and facilities to compare prices as if there had I am quite sure the Cooperative would get zero business

“cis rip off company.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by frankkeller on 08/07/2014

I have been with cis around 8-10 years and had 3 claims 1 which i had to fight for with their piddling offer.i have noticed in recent times that the call centre staff are rude and totally arrogant and they constantly lie about previous conversations,i ask for a transcript on one occasion and they said they would send but didn't,needless to say i will see what my next quote is and probably change companies even if it costs a bit more just for peace of mind, these call centre staff need educating in customer services and need to think more who pays their wages.. I would defiantly not recommend this company to any of my friends or acquaintances. . Cis management need to get a grip on this company before the share prices plummet again. Useless bunch.

“Bargepole and Don't Touch - Spring to Mind”

★☆☆☆☆

written by James1979c on 11/04/2013

Will make you call an 0844 number which they will keep you on hold for as long as possible to make as much revenue from your call as they can and which costs you a fortune. They then will give you a quote for insurance that is absolutely useless and has a million different clauses in it so they won't ever have to pay you anything out in the event of a claim. If you ever have a question about anything you have spoken about previously then they will have absolutely no record of it and will make you go over it all again, and cut you off 90% through the phonecall to waste even more of your time. When you call back you'll have to start all over again. If by a miracle do you actually receive an insurance certificate, don't expect it for at least 10 working days, so taxing your car or collecting a new vehicle is out the question. Then finally and very importantly don't expect them to add your vehicle to the insurance database, so when you drive past a police car it sends an alert to the officer that you are uninsured. The nice policeman will then take your car off you and recover it to a local garage at your expense (about £175) and won't give you it back until an insurance certificate is produced - good luck with that, whilst incurring £35 a day storage charges. Then when you are finally able to prove you were insured you will never get any of this money back!! PLEASE DON'T USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING - I WOULD HATE ANYONE ELSE TO BE SUBJECT TO WHAT I HAVE BEEN!!!

“Was good but getting toooo expensive”

★★★☆☆

written by on 24/10/2012

I have, believe it or not been with CIS for over 11yrs. I have never had a problem as such with them but over the last few year the quote I get is getting more expensive. I can usually give them a call and the quote goes down slightly. This year I have decided to try other insurers but I'm reading reviews on the companies I got quotes from at Compare the Market. im now having second thoughts about moving as all the reviews are appalling and even the reviews for CIS arent great. Are there any decent insures that aren't too expensive ??????

“Could Not Insure Our New Car”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 31/08/2012

We were with CIS for one and a half years when we decided to change our car and buy a new one. When I phoned they were unable to issue a new cover note for our new car because the car was not on the system. They had six weeks to sort this out but were unable to and told us we would have to get insurance elsewhere. We lost out financially and we would never insure with CIS again. Rubbish!

written by michaelja on 04/08/2012

Their terms are rubbish. Even though i send them my 6 years no claim discount they did not accept it. I had to cancel my policy within 14 days and they deducted a lot of money. I wont be renewing home insurance with them. Rubbish, please avoid them. If any thing happens you wont be get paid from them.

“avoid to keep sanity”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 27/04/2012

been with CIS for 5 years with no probs, because i have never had to deal with them in that time. recently i moved house and my policy was ending so i rang up to change address and was informed my new postcode was more expensive, fair enough. i then haggled on my policy and got the price down to match a competitor and purposly asked if that quote included my new postcode "yes it does" they said. so a few days later i get my letter through and on that i look closley and the payments are 3 pounds more each month than when they sold me the policy! when i rang them they said it was because i changed my address etc etc and the system hadnt been updated, the standard robotic response every time, most unhelpful. i feel they tried to scam me. they said a manager would listen to the original call and call me back that day, so i stayed in. all day. did they call? no. im self employed , my time is my money. when i phoned back i had no apology no explanation and no progress. i said i would cancel, they didnt seem at all bothered. so i did. stay well clear.

“Always a nightmare to deal with and silly policies”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 26/04/2012

Brokedown today, my fault I left the lights on and drained the battery. Rang the breakdown people I pay for with CIS who say I am not covered. I am covered, I even have the policy document in front of me whilst on the phone saying I am covered for UK and Abroad. I pay over £1000 a year by the way for my insurance! They put me though to CIS. CIS: Sorry we cant talk to you, you are not the policy holder. ME: Yes, but I am a named driver, I have broken down, Its raining and I need assistance. CIS: Sorry sir, we need to speak to the policy holder. ME: My mam is the main policy holder she is not here. CIS: Where is she? ME: At work. CIS: Give me her number and I will call her and get permission for you to speak to me about this policy. ME: I dont have her number!! CIS: I understand your predicament but we need to speak top the policy holder. ME: Yes, but I am a named driver, we have breakdown cover, you have not informed the breakdown company we are covered, that's not my fault (I get a bit wound up and shout a bit)...ok a lot! Meanwhile I am soaked to the bone!! Ok Sir, I have spoken to my manager, we will ring the breakdown people so if you can ring the breakdown people in 10 minutes. ME: And you will tell them we have cover and its all sorted... CIS: I cant tell you that sir. Anyway, in the end the breakdown people did come and sorted me out in 10 mins but I spent about 20 mins on a call that I shouldnt have to make being charged for it. In CIS defence they did say, if my mam had me down as authorised to speak on her behalf they could have helped. My comments on that are: My mam tryed to give my dad this authorisation many moon ago and nothing happened my dad still hit the same brick wall of bad service the next time he rang. My second point is this: We were covered for breakdown so this conversation should never have happened, I should have just rang the breakdown people and got a service. Everytime me or my family deal with this company its the most stressful situation, I also had a nightmare with a claim with them a few years back that I wont go into. Avoid this company like the plaugue, they are not cheap, they are not good. Its beurocracy gone mad!!

“Not Great!”

★★☆☆☆

written by Harry_1 on 11/04/2012

Having been with CIS for many years at first they seemed the most pertinent choice, in that they were one of the lesser quotes among the comparables. However as time went on things went downhill, my premium increased after the first year i hadnt crashed claimed nothing! Had great trouble getting my money back when i had my window smashed, didnt take to kindly when i received my first and only 3 points and doubled my premium when a lady made a flase whiplash claim against me... hence left them!

“please dont waste your money pay more if you have to!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by McIllroy on 07/03/2012

We have had to make a claim on my wifes policy after she was hit by a car pulling out of a side road. Thats when the trouble starts. For their replacement car and uninsured loss option, you have to deal with a company called Albany assistance. They in turn use a company called Fleet services. Now I was begining to wonder why I had paid money to CIS just to effectively be franchised out. Following incorrect information regarding the claim being given to Albany they cancelled the loan car!!! And arranged for its collection the next day. After a protracted row and goodness knows how many phone calls I had to make the car was reinstated. It was a new car and it developed a fault, phone call to Albany ah yes well who you need to call is...... Hello isnt this your job. Hell no why should we do it when we can bully you into doing it. So i had to resolve it and wait for Fleet to put the car in order it was a small technical fault that would have been my responsibility if it hadnt been resolved so no option really. Subsequently Albany have been contacting me for an update on the repair..........Hello isnt this your job. Hell no why should we do it when we can bully you into doing it.....Clearly this company missed out on the customer care school and instead went to one run by Atilla the Hun. It turned out that allegedly they had been given the wrong number for the garage from CIS. So as I refused to speak to them anymore they guess what cancelled the loan agreement. To be honest I was tired of it so I gave up its simply not worth the hassle. And the morale of my tale is simple if you pay peanuts you get monkeys. The only good part of this whole afair was that the car company Fleet did seem to know what they were doing shame they took money from companies that link them to bad service.

“one year and still waiting!!!!!”

written by on 25/10/2011

My husband had an accident one year ago in the start of nov, another driver came around a corner on the wrong side of the road and our car was a right off. The other driver admitted this happening and ther was a witness to so sound straight forward or so we thought.......... we phone regularly and where always fobed off with one excuse or another. They also were extremly kind in increasing our insurance 40% whilst the claim is ongoing assuring us that this would be refunded as soon as the claim is paid out to us??? i doubt we will ever see either amount of money the whole thing is discusting!!! we have both been cis customers for many years and as from tomorrow this will no longer be the case. WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DELT WITH!

“CIS hanging onto my money for a year after non...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by arriety on 13/06/2011

Cis have been overcharging me by 40% since last May.They admit that they owe me 430 pounds for a claim that was never made.I have been a client for six years, never had an accident ever, however after hours and hours on the phone being passed around, repeating my story again and again, and being assured profusely that I will get MY money back within 10 days,I am still waiting months later.I found them rude and bullying when I was attempting to get my replacement car after breaking down abroad last year-they REALLY didn´t want to give me a hire car which was my right.I will be changing companies as soon as I get MY money back. They don´t appear to be joining dots and I am sick of dealing with them as they hang onto my money and seem incapable of sorting it out.I will be taking this further, and if anyone has any advice for me I would be very grateful.I would never recommend to anyone.
