“Awful customer service and care - DO NOT USE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by SarahGhazzawi on 30/10/2021

AWFUL customer service – avoid at all costs. We were given a voucher for an anniversary gift, the voucher expired during the COVID pandemic when all theatres were shut. The phone line on the voucher was no longer in service so I was unable to phone to discuss extending our voucher – this was also not my priority as I was working on a COVID ward in the NHS. When I emailed to try to extend the voucher I was told that I could not extend it. I emailed 5 times asking how to complain formally and not one person replied. VERY DISAPPOINTED with this service – DO NOT USE.

“I wish I'd known before I bought from...”

written by on 11/07/2018

Very disappointed experience with. Not everyone lives in capital cities or is used to what happens in London theatre.. Bought £100 of vouchers as gift ( + £5 admin and post!) but when we went to use them, you can only book directly with them. Their ticket price was £15 more per seat because of yet another "booking fee" than buying direct from the box office. Same day, same show, box office seats were slightly better too. Company refused any refund/cancellation ( as they're entitled) but it means if you use this company it will cost you about 25% more for a similar/worse seat. DON'T DO IT!!!! Plus side? Responded quickly to emails- but not very helpfully really Don't trust all their feefo praises. You can only write on that if the company invites you!!!

“Misleading”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BrockNeal on 01/09/2017

Very misleading name. This is actually a ticket agency who only delivers your tickets to the theatre the day of the performance where you have to queue to get in. Same price as actual theatre site and poorer service. Why use?

“Failed to inform us the seats were restricted ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JadenHensley on 09/05/2016

The worst theatre experience . . . . When booking we were not informed the seats were restricted. On arrival we could not see a thing. The view was appalling. After the show we rang the agent who was very rude and had email exchanges. I provided screen shots showing they did not inform us and they just refused to admit any wrong doing and wouldn't refund the money. Poor service, not transparent and rude. Avoid!

“Delete your cookies!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by mdPennington21 on 16/04/2016

Outraged! I was looking at tickets for Hand to God on this site this morning and, after navigating through the website and returning to the Hand to God booking page (having decided this was the show I most liked the look of) found the tickets had almost doubled in price!!! Assumed there must have been some mistake, so gave the company a call only for a very rude guy on the other end of the phone to tell me "that's the price you've got to pay now". Well no, it actually isn't. As I had my suspicions, I opened the page in a different browser and lo-and-behold, the tickets were back down to their original price. This kind of scheme, where a cookie is dropped on the user's computer in order to increase the price and hence create panic and urgency, is commonplace with morally bankrupt faceless agency websites. T's a shame Theatre Tickets Direct now fall into that category. Having taken screenshots of the two different prices side by side, I have absolute proof that this kind of unethical business practice is exactly what is going on. I'd advise everyone to steer well clear – if they're willing to rip you off this blatantly, it makes you wonder what they're getting away with behind the scenes.

“Seat not as booked on line.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Harveyrobinson on 24/01/2016

I booked front of stalls theatre tickets for Eddie Izzard for his latest show at the Palace Theatre three months in advance, as I find it difficult to see clearly at the back of any theatres. Upon arrival at the booking office to collect ticket in person, and having travelled some sixty miles and refused an invite to a twenty first celebration as it was such a good seat: I was extremely disappointed to find that the ticket booking reference bears no relevance to that on the ticket and I was now in row Y. I spent an uncomfortable evening leaning into the aisle to try to hear and partially see Izzard who was brilliant. Will not trust or recommend this theatre booking company in future.Palace theatre staff tried to be extremely helpful but a busy Saturday evening and could not offer alternative seat, directed complaint straight to this agency. Yes it was very easy to book with this company but I would not trust personally or recommend this agency to any friends or relatives because of this experience, extremely disappointingi

“Outrageous Charges!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by gvweir on 24/08/2015

I purchased tickets for Kinky Boots at the Adelphi and was astounded when I collected them from the box office that the face value of the tickets was £85 each. Theatre Tickets Direct had charged me £102 per ticket. I accept a small handling charge is reasonable, but a 20% charge is excessive and I will be booking direct with the theatre in future!

written by 281Stafford on 17/02/2015

I, my partner and our friends and family book from theatre tickets direct, we all have received the best service from the all the staff. We have got the best seats allocated at a reasonable prices. Have booked with this agent for long and never felt bad about anything, and mistake happened then do apologise in a manner. Was always provided the best service and always gave reasonable value unlike other bad agents that we have experienced who don't give a good seats and the prices are high as well. MUST BOOK TICKETS WITH THEATRE TICKETS DIRECT

“Never expect to get a reply from the manager!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/10/2014

I felt that due to the treatment I have received from the staff and management of this company, I should write this review. I purchased two tickets to see Thriller in theatre which they were advertising on their website as £40 per ticket (normally £80 pp) in a box. I bought the tickets thinking they were a great deal, and when it came to the performance where I collected the tickets from the box office, the tickets were priced at £40pp (not £80pp) and the ticket had restricted views written on it (which the website didn't state at all when purchasing them. So my partner and I went to the box where another couple were already there and instead of being able to sit across the balcony we had to sit behind them, as there was a huge speaker blocking our view and 3/4s of the stage, so we missed a good part of the performance. I wasn't impressed as I felt I had been midsold these tickets. So the following Monday I phoned their customer service department who told me there was nothing they could do and I would have to email their manager Adnan. So I emailed him asking for some form of compensation as the advertisement for the tickets were wrong and I would have spent less money for the tickets in the dress circle if I knew that these were so bad. Well a week went by and no reply from the management, to which I resent my original message to him. A week after the resent email no reply, so I sent another. In total I emailed him 6 times to which I had no reply. So I phoned back up the customer service team (who really shouldn't be doing it as they have no form of customer service what so ever). I asked the gentleman on the phone if I could speak to the manager, giving him my name and that I wanted to discuss an open complaint. He said "wait a minute, I'll go get him", and after about 3 minutes came back to tell me the manager wasn't in! I told him that he said he could see him and would get him, but he said that he thought he had and he is no longer in the office (clearly once again the management not wanting to deal with my complaint). They then proceeded to tell me that the manager, works from home a lot of the time and that he's a very busy man to reply back to me. I informed them that as the manager it is his duty to reply to customer complaints, otherwise he isn't doing his job properly. I asked them if he had a work number I could contact him on to which I was told no. I would have to email him. So they said they would pass on my details and should expect to hear something back by October 6th. Surprise surprise I didn't, so on the 7th I had contacted them back to ask where was his phone call, I was given the same ansŵers as perviously that I would have to email him, so I demanded they email him and copy me in on it, to which they did that day and still as I write this email dated the 13th October I have not heard anything back. Bearing in mind I saw this performance at the start of September. What I found even more baffling was when I said to the customer service team I was going to complain about them to The Office of Finance Trading all I got was "do what you want" from them. Now surely for people who actually cared they would have not wanted this to happen and try an find a solution to this problem? Well any self respecting company would, but not these Mickey Mouse business they have set up! So as of yet I still haven't heard from this manager, I am disgusted with this small bit companies behaviour and would advise anyone not to use them! They do no advertise their tickets correctly and never get back to you! Just pay the full price from the ticket office as you then know you aren't going to get scammed! So I am now £80 out of pocket as I hardly saw my performancei had paid for.

“Amazon Local”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Maurerka15 on 21/08/2014

I purchased two 'premium' theatre tickets to a show. They take your money, then give you 2 vouchers. Upon reading the small print on the vouchers a few days later, They ask you call to confirm your booking. A 7 minute plus phone call (number obtained on voucher) later , you find out there are no tickets available and you're told that you need to contact amazon local ..goodbye. After a delayed search through your iphone app you then call the number. After several options you are finally through to a helpful adviser who quickly confirms a refund (which could take a few days depending on your bank). I have a very disappointed partner and we have no tickets. Amazon local = FAIL. Of course you are welcome to sit on the other side of the theatre from your partner if you desire.

“DO NOT BUY”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Summerborwick on 28/05/2014

-bought and paid for tickets, money was taken from credit card, and tickets were never allocated -took several days to contact me back at which time I was advised the seats I had reserved had been resold & no comparable seats were offered. (Only seats a row back for an additional 30 pound per ticket!) - no apologies or responsibility taken other than stating it was a "technical error" Poor communication VERY disappointed Would not buy from this middle man

“I booked tickets on line for We will rock you in the...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Kira65 on 15/04/2014

I booked tickets on line for We will rock you in the morning for my friends birthday, about an hour later I got an email saying they had cancelled my booking as they had over booked. I didn't get a phone call to offer any alternatives or to make sure I was aware the booking had been cancelled. They also say in the email that it takes 3-5 days for the money to be refunded to your card so leaving me with no money to book through anyone else. Ruined my friends birthday & left me over £100 short for 5 days. Disgusting system to not even call you, had I have made the booking & then gone straight to London I would never have known it was cancelled. Great way to keep your money though for a service they clearly couldn't offer in the first place.

“Booking Theatre Shows”

★★★★☆

written by on 15/11/2013

I recently booked tickets for a London show using Theatre Tickets Direct and found the experience very pleasing. I hade £100 of vouchers and used them to book the show. The balance of my voucher value has been credited to my account, and there was no charge for the booking service as I have experienced with other gift voucher redeeming schemes.

“Overpriced, lack of options”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Emilyfletcher on 13/11/2013

Tickets v expensive, I had a gift voucher to spend so couldn't go elsewhere. Lack of choice of theatres to be able to go to with only mainstream theatre available, nothing to take my young daughter to. Plus no ability to pick my seats like I would have been ble to if I had booked direct.

The mark up on the ticket price is excessive. We had a gift voucher for Christmas which should have been enough for two tickets, but the extra costs meant we paid nearly double the total cost. Certainly wont be buying these as gifts myself!!

Just ordered tickets for Thriller Live on a Sunday. They had a special offer: 35 pounds for a ticket in stalles/dress circle. Initially I was a bit suspicious about getting the good seats, but in the end we have great seats for a really nice price! Will definately recommend the website.

I have always received my tickets in the mail in good time for the chosen show. Unless the date you are due to attend is very close, I would not be concerned. If it is really close, it would be best to call them for advice.
