I am very disappointed with Air New Zealand after this flight.
We were informed upon boarding that the headphone sockets on the seats were broken, but "not to worry because we'll play the movie through the PA system". This was met by an array of groans from the passangers.

We flew from LA to Auckland, and the Air New Zealand aircraft was very old, no personalised tv's (although their webpage implied they have for long-haul), and stingy service re meals. Qantas is far superior, and no more expensive.

I liked Air New Zealand from the start to finish. On a 1 hour flight it was going to be hard to please. The seats were comfortable, good food and staff. Air New Zealand is one of the best airlines I have travelled on I thought it was going to be hard to top Qantas but they did in all areas.
