“Absolute Waste of Time”

Written on: 02/05/2013 by Brian_K (1 review written)

I opened a business account with Cash Plus, fine no problem, then applied to upgrade the account for full access. Send two verified copies of our passport (partnership), letter from our accountant and an original monthly VAT certificate. After ten days no reply, called them (ten minutes to answer the phone). Guy on the other end informed me there was insufficient information to upgrade the account, but couldn't tell me what more they wanted without speaking to his manager. “Good until you need to contact customer services”

Written on: 25/04/2013

The cards and the members area are good and easy to use. I've used the overdraft they offer which works well, but when you try to cancel the overdraft thats where you will have problems. You have to phone customer services, there is no secure messaging or email address. You have to wait 10-20 minutes (@10p a minute) until they answer and after answering all their questions they tell you that to cancel the overdraft that was set up via the website you have to write to FREEPOST CASHPLUS… Read Full Review

I have used this card at pumps and It has worked fine for me. You are right that the customer service is rubbish though. I hope you are able to get this issue sorted soon.

I have had my card for about 3 weeks and it was the first thing I did, I have found that the balances are a bit slow to update on the online account though.

They do mention (in the initial leaflet you get when you receive your card) that if you want to use your card at pay at pump with tescos you jest need to call them to activate it !
Obviously if its true that you have to wait long time to get through to them I can understand where it can get frustrating. I have only just received my card so hopefully it doesn't happen with me

I've had the card since May 2009. Nearly 4 and a half years. Never had a transaction declined. Money always shows online when I expect it. Went to Americas and it worked no problem. Transfering money to my bank account is fast, It clears after 5pm same day if it's a weekday. If I leave money in post office before closing it shows online and it's ready to spend on my card after 8am the following morning. I love this card.

I've read rather a few negative reviews on here and thought I would give my say. I have a rather poor credit rating, and couldn't get a standard bank account for abroad. As I was working in Spain for 18 months as a rep, this account was great for me. I was able to get my wages paid in Sterling into a 'Current Account' and transfer the funds I wished to use on a free Euro Card. I found the exchange rates were cheaper than what I would receive with my old bank and the funds were generally… Read Full Review

I used the service fine for the first 6 months until I started being charged for an overdraft service I never used or wanted. Its almost impossible to contact customer services and found them very inept once I did manage to get through. It takes roughly 19 minutes to get to speak to someone, then when that person is unable to deal with your issue you have to call back as their telephones are 'incoming calls only' and the managers are 'unavailable'at that time. My son purchased a Cash Plus Pre Paid Card from Cash Plus after their literature stated that there would be no charges for 3 months. “Terrible Customer Service!”

Written on: 11/01/2013 by DogWithABone (2 reviews written)

I checked my Credit Score online a couple of months ago and discovered that CashPlus had made an incorrect entry on my file more than a year ago. The entry wrongly states that my account with them is "delinquent" and that there is a small outstanding balance (even though my account with them has been at £0 for over a year). This incorrect entry had resulted in my credit rating being substantially worse than it should have been for the past 12 months. I had specifically decided to use this… Read Full Review

Well I finally had a response to my second letter. They claim that they didn't acknowledge the first letter of complaint because they decided it wasn't a complaint (even though it was addressed to their complaints department). It's laughable really. How can a letter addressed to their complaints department stating that they've made an incorrect entry on my credit file be deemed not a complaint? What else could it possibly be?

I'll let everybody form their own opinions as to whether or not they've failed to adhere to the Financial Services Authority guidelines which state that a letter of complaint should be acknowledged. I'll be interested to hear what the FSA make of their stance.

They also admitted to making the mistake on my credit file but offered no apology even though it had been sitting there for a year presumably having a negative impact on my credit score.

I certainly won't ever be using this company again!

They can operate this way with the full permission of the existing law. All they have to do is state that they have a 'query' regarding your identity and that's sufficient under Money Laundering laws to freeze your account. Sad but true. Best advice I can give is firstly send them a Special Delivery letter with your documents and your letter of complaint, stating that you will involve the Financial Ombudsman and will additionally initiate a Small Claims action against them for damages. If you limit the value of the action to, say, £2000 then neither you not them can claim legal costs.....Give them 14 days to respond then report them to the Ombudsman. It might take some time to get your money back, but phoning them is a total waste of time and money. They don't take emails for the very good reason that it's a record of your complaint. Phone calls are'nt unless you record them.

Hope you get a result.

This card is brilliant! Firstly you can apply for the whole thing online within minutes and you can even pay for the card via text. It arrives within days and you can get the pin number and activation all sorted over the phone. The most amazing thing about this card is the credit booster option... they simply pretend that all the monthly payments of £4.95 are a loan and they report it to the credit defence agencies and it appears on your credit report. well i must be one of the very few that is happy with cashplus, i have a very bad credit rating, i started my own company up and got a cashplus business account, moved my account from express to total access, only after 3 weeks they gave me £250 overdraft on my account, yes they do have flaws but ask yourself, why did you take a cashplus account??? was it because the high street banks were throwing their money and you just didnt want it... no i dont think so, its because yoour paddling the same boat as me. fact is i transferd money from my rip of high street bank using the faster payment system (upto 2 hour transfere) on a sat afternoon and its now sunday and it still hasnt gone why? cause i was stupid enough not to read the small print. so what should i do blame cashplus for my mistake. my advice is to read all he print inc the small print then if your happy enough then apply and you will be fine as long as you follow the system. i think im getting a better deal with this company than i am with my own uk high black horse branded bank who charge me silly money for being as much as 78p short of a direct debit and then bounce it because of it, so let me wheigh it up for you. a company who dosent know me but after only 3 weeks give me an overdraft of a company that ive been with for over 11 years who wouldnt trust me enough to give me a 78p overdraft.. its a hard one folks

I,m confused perhaps you can explain. You state that the FSA won't get involved because Cashplus aren't regulated by them. I have looked at the literature and it states the following

' *Cashplus is issued by APS Financial Ltd (AFL) pursuant to license by MasterCard International Incorporated. APS Financial Limited is authorised by the Financial Services Authority under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 for the issuing of electronic money. Cards are serviced by Advanced Payment Solutions Ltd ("APS") which operates the card on behalf of AFL. AFL & APS registered address is 6th Floor, One London Wall, London EC2Y 5EB. Registered numbers 06029941 & 04947027. Cashplus is a registered trademark of APS. MasterCard is a registered trademark of MasterCard International Incorporated.

So legally how does that work if Cashplus is a trademark of a FSA regulated company? You have asserted that FSA won't 'get involved' could you explain a bit more since you claim to know? Thanks
