“Worst caravan site ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Tammyann on 08/09/2023

Dirty caravan, oven microwave carpet kitchen stools & bedroom smelt of urine.i at to go to asda to buy cleaning products.Dead flies on dressing table,Broken blinds door frame & handles. Couldn't use swimming pool as was all booked 2 weeks before. Was given pink chicken in restaurant. My daughter fell over as no street lights working which I reported at reception, we stayed for a week & lights still was not fixed. Entertainment was cut short due to traveller's which they did not do anything what I saw,we had to leave our drinks ect so I wasted money this happened twice. The kids park needed security always fights & arguments plus park should of been closed at certain times due to safety as was really dark but was left open even till very late.Rubbish never picked up outside caravans for the whole week we was there.i should of taken notice of reviews & not booked this. Absolutely apoorling

“Park Book in Relax”

★★★★★

written by yarmouthyearly on 08/07/2013

This is not my first visit nor will it be the last. From the time I make a booking and subsequently call to change dates pitches etc. All of my changes are made with cheerful professionalism and courtesy. Every member of staff that I interact with makes mine and my entourage's time here a time to remember. the site is regularly patrolled by an army of grounds men and cleaners. Although there are no children in my group I cant remember seeing any on site looking glum or bored they all seem to be having a great time letting of steam. For adults there is always great entertainment by a professional group of youngsters who work there socks off in between the brought in acts. I use both the sites vans which are clean and modern also my own tourer and have stayed on a variety of pitches all with plenty of room around them and the whole park is landscaped and a pleasure to walk through. I wont harp on about what facilities are on site just look in the brochure. Its the staff that Make Vauxhall Holiday Park as great as it is. And the town and beach of Great Yarmouth is only a short stroll away. All I can add is give it a try.

“Decided to try an individual park as opposed to the...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 14/08/2010

Decided to try an individual park as opposed to the usual Park Resorts, Parkdean etc .... swimming pool and splash park are faultless, entertainment was ok, plenty of seating, air conditioning etc, but on two nights the caberet failed to appear with no back up plan in force. Jade kebab shop was run by what looked like 16 year old lads as was the chip shop, food was swimming in grease and inedible, pizza outlet along with seafood shop were faultless restaurant we didn't try out. Caravan on arrival had a non speaking English person cleaning it, shame she forgot to remove a childs had prints from all over the main mirror in the lounge along with lord knows what brown coloured substance off the heater in the main bedroom. Security, if you can call it that consisted of a few guys wearing SECURITY shirts chatting to each other outside, not once in the 7 days we were there were we asked for our passes, nor did we ever see the entrance barrier in the down position.
Had I paid the price Vauxhall wanted to charge (£680) I would have been gutted, thank goodness I hunted about and found the same caravan grade via Hoseasons loads cheaper (£418), same week etc. Location of the park is ideal, 2 mins in the car to Asda, 5 mins from the seafront so no complaints there, beware of noisy RAF planes tho !! I had a moan on their Facebook web page but it was removed so be cautious reading wall posts there, they seem to keep the good ones and delete the bad. I would maybe return if another bargain price appeared but there are far nicer, cheaper sites around the area.

“IF YOU HAVE A TOURER YOU NEED TO READ THIS. On...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/08/2010

IF YOU HAVE A TOURER YOU NEED TO READ THIS. On arrival we were very concerned about the size of the pitches. We have a large caravan and consequently a large vehicle to pull it. The pitches are very very small. We were sited up a very narrow road onto such a tiny pitch our back window was in the bush and the jockey wheel on the road. We asked for a more suitable pitch but could only be offered a pitch that we were at that time able to pull in and park sideways on,there are no better pitches and you are on top of each other. When the awning was up the only place to park the car was in front of the awningbeing careful to try and stay off the road. That meant nowhere to sit outside. Most of the reviews are written by people who go regularly so they dont have anything to campare this site to. When we pulled our van off the first pitch we damaged it trying to get it out of the narrow gate which has another gate at a 45 degree angle which is also so narrow we just got stuck, the staff couldnt care less. If you have a van over about 15ft dont go. We think the pitches were originally for use for tents (and some of them only just fitted). The day we had a severe downpour our pitch and the one next to us (in tent) flooded and we could only get out because we had brought wellies and the complex also flooded. Whilst the toilets/showers are cleaned regular because of the poor drainage the floors are constantly muddy not very warm and only suitable if you're less than 5ft you will need to take your own mop/bucket and washing up bowl. There are no separate private wash basins so you clean your teeth in the toilet sink or your own van. The washing up is done INSIDE the toilets and although there are 3 sinks only 2 people can really work in such cramped conditions. There are 3 supermarkets close by but the beach is 1.5 miles away. Dont be fooled by the brochure pictures this site could have been used for an episode of Life on Mars, it is so outdated. The kids liked the swimming poolwhich is quite modern and we liked the restaurant but the entertainment was appalling. The entertainment room has pillars all over so you cant see the stage or the dance floor. If you are used to sites with standards this is not for you. Please remember most people who go to this site go nowhere else and therefore it can be quite 'clicky' People we spoke to who were visiting for the first time were not impressed, we in fact as did others leave early as we were so bored as you cant get a TV reception no matter how good your equipment! Vauhall Holiday Park looks good from the road but unless they invest heavily in updating the pitches/facilities it will only get worse.

“nice clean caravan. ”

written by on 09/08/2010

nice clean caravan.
The site gives the impression that it is child friendly but a closer look reveals that it is not.Staf in Louie den were fantastic and play area was good. Not quite sure why there is a Louie and Lola as they do nothing except a march round the room and a £6 photo at the end of it.
The main entertainment compare does not like children very much I am sure, he does not have enough patience and his jokes are not anything that a child can relate to,at one point I found him rude to the parents.
These are my comments as a nan holidaying with my grandchildren, if I was on holiday as an adult couple this is an ideal site.

written by on 08/08/2010

We have stayed at Vauxhall Holiday Park about 15 times now and each time it is a good as the last. We stay Bed and Breakfast and the dogs love it too. We stay in the pet zone as most of the camp is no dogs allowed. It's a good set up - breakfast is delivered by staff between 7 and 9:30 mon-fri but you have to ask for it as it is not advertised. Anyway, overall 8/10.

I have just coe back from a 1 week stay at VHP. Everything was as expected and we had a really good time. The food was above average and my brother and i liked Jade Kebabs and shellfish. The only thing we were upset about was that 'twinspin' was no longer offered - Charlie and I really liked that, but otherwise, 9/10! Give it a try!

written by on 21/07/2010

we have been going to vauxhall for a number of years now both my lads now 11 and 15 have been going since toddlers and they love it however the food is quite dull and expensive and needs to be open during the day for those who want to stay on site. cleanliness in caravans and site in general is excellent and never had any problems. only arguement we have is the entertainment has NOT changed in years and whole point of site is that its for families if children are bored we as parents wont go back

please bring back the fun for kids site you used to be

“Vauxhall holiday park great yarmouth. ok great site,...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by actionreplay2010 on 15/07/2010

Vauxhall holiday park great yarmouth. ok great site, lots of fun for the kids, food not so good Reedcutters food was very expensive for example ordered a spaghetti bol cost me about £6.50 when recieved this it turned out to be a microwave meal that went cold within a couple of minutes. other food areas such as fish & chips the chips were uneatable and expensive, staff! i found the staff very friendly and helpful. no faults in that dept.
security very very good, cleanliness outstanding. i also noticed a disabled person struggling to get around the facility in a wheelchair, not an ideal place to go if you are in a wheelchair. accomodation, very good, clean.
entertainment, ok the entertainment in regency room, i noticed that neil did not have many patients with kids a little bit sarcastic towards them and make them look very stupid, and his singing not so good, entertainments team i expected good entertainment from these but was let down they were out of tune and bad correography, vauxhall holiday park is a very expensive park to visit, they say you get what you pay for but in this instance i did not get what i payed for. Vauxhall can be a fantastic place once again and not be slap handy as it has become by making some changes to the entertainments side of things, food really needs to be looked into make people really enjoy the food they are eating, as they will return and tell there friends and family who will also tell there friends and so on, at the present moment to have a good holiday thats good value for money and really good food dont go to vauxhall park you need to go to butlins skegness it has it all at a lot cheaper price for example august holiday butlins £550 vauxhall £750

“Well were do I begin.......just had a week at Vauxhall...”

written by on 02/07/2010

Well were do I begin.......just had a week at Vauxhall which felt like a year. Stayed in a touring van which was no problem. Complained about the ladies showers being far to hot unusable would not even dream of putting my 3 year old in them. I agree with other reviews Reedcutters food very poor. I have never written a review before but feel that people should really think twice about this complex if you are looking to entertain your children. The family room entertainment was disgraceful I have stayed and performed at most of these family resorts over the past 15 years and have to say this was the worse entertainment I have seen in years the agent should be ashamed to send you these acts and to say that it is for children well apart from half an hour marching around the room with Leo or Lola I did not hear one childrens song played and the games i.e whats on the table etc.... was just useless. The female entertainment team was very good and although I do not wish to personally attack Neil please use your next salary to buy a suit that fits you. You are representing Vauxhall and it looked really bad. They did not cater for smaller children at all why would my 3 year old what to listen to a comedian? she didn't and they was not even funny. If you want to just drink and let your children run riot and couldn't care less what is on the stage then this is the complex for you. Overall very disappointed won't be coming again but for any mangers of Vauxhall please sort out some decent entertainers PLEASE !

“Just come from a weeks holiday at the Vauxhall Holiday...”

★★★★★

written by on 27/06/2010

Just come from a weeks holiday at the Vauxhall Holiday Park in Great Yarmouth, it was the first time i've been to Great Yarmouth and I can honestly say that this has been the best holiday I have been on. There is lots of things to do in both the park and Great Yarmouth. In the park itself it has an Ocean Fish and Chips where I went on the first night, the chips weren't that great but the other food places were good quality.

The entertainment is great in both the V Lounge and Regency room it is quite full in there by 7pm. There is also a games room which is full of pool tables. The room also has a bar and TV. Also, there is an arcade which has bowling and the derby horses.

The caravan itself was worth the money, they were of good standard and clean. We stayed in the kestrel which is located at the back of the park away from the road noise.

ASDA is close by, its about 2 minutes in the car on the right hand side of the road. The town however is quite a walk so we went in the car its about a 5 minute drive but walking will seem a bit of a distance.

Great Yarmouth itself is a very nice place, a clean golden beach, good piers and lots of things to do. If I didn't live as far as I do from Great Yarmouth then I would definently stay at Vauxhall again

“Only been to Haven parks before this one and wow what...”

★★★★★

written by on 13/06/2010

Only been to Haven parks before this one and wow what a difference! The staff are friendly, check in is simple, no queueing just get your keys from reception. If you arrive before the caravan is ready you can still park your car next to it if you want.

We had the cheapest option of 8 berth van and besides it being a bit old it was clean and well kept.

The park itself has excellent facilities for all ages and unlike Haven you do no have to walk through the amusment arcade to get to the evening entertainment which by the way is also excellent with good venues and plenty of seating. If you can't get near the stage, there are plenty of big screens to view the shows.

There is also a large Asda just up the road (2 mins in car)

My family and I had never been to Great Yarmouth and found this park and the surrounding area fantastic!

My only small complaint would be that the site is about a 15 minute walk away from the town centre and beach.

We are going back here next year and can imagine a lot more visits in the years to come. I will never go to a Haven site again.

★★★★★

written by on 13/06/2010

Stayed in our own tourer, plenty of water and elsan points, very clean site. Plenty to do for all the family, especially the kids. Swimming the best onsite pool I have been to. Evening entertainment excellent, kept my 7 and 10 year old both amused as well as us. Carefully planned i.e no need to go through the shops, amusments with the kids if you dont want to. We went out of school holidays, so it was not too crowded, may have a different atmosphere in the holidays. Plenty of take away options too and pub has 2 for 1 deals. Yarmouth 6 mins in the car, so far enough but not to far. Good time by all.

i have been to vauxhall numerous times and have to agree with earlier comments that the entertainment is not what it once was
Found the staff at Reedcutters restaurant a bit surly especially the manageress who is downright ignorant
the food is a bit bland but have to say I did enjoy the carvery and would recomend it
drinks are a bit expensive and bar staff not very friendly
but the accomadation was very clean

written by on 01/06/2010

We had a fantastic holiday and cant wait to go back. The swimming pool for toddlers was wonderful and my daughter loved the slide and playing with her new friends while we sat back on the chairs around the pool and chilled out. The staff were friendly and chatty and couldnt be faulted. The only negative would be the proximity to the A47 which can be noisy, however you dont really notice this after a while.
