“Do Not Use Anglian Windows ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jborn40 on 20/12/2023

I am very disappointed with this untrustworthy company (Anglian Home Improvement & Windows). Unfortunately, they have taken my deposit of £250 which I paid for the installation of three windows. Approximately, five months have passed and the installation has not commenced. I have contacted them on numerous occasions and got fobbed of with the excuse that it has been passed to the legal team and they will contact me. When I enquire as to when I will be contacted no date or time was given. I now have to contact my credit card company to see if I can cancel the payment. Please, do not use this company as they will run off with your money.

“Great product and service”

★★★★★

written by SWynn on 11/11/2023

I recently had my guttering and barge boards replaced by Anglian and am very pleased with it. The product is superb and the workmen were great cleaning up each night before they left. So when I needed a new front door and window I had them again and can not fault the quality of the product and service. I would highly recommend.

“awful experience”

★☆☆☆☆

written by adriano84 on 09/10/2023

awful experience. Windows that weren't checked before leaving their warehouse resulting in a really poor finish, damage to property, staffers walked all over my conservatory living cracks all over, cracked windows installed, glass installed the wrong way round, beading popping out and not matching across the windows, installation and survey dates changed without informing. Have been complaining for over two months and Anglian is yet to address the issue or propose a way to resolve it. Stay away, they look like a big company but act poorly.

Go elsewhere, you will never get them back once installed Only middle pane is covered no matter how they explode, normally heat related.

“Extremely Poor Service”

written by Kim51263 on 07/09/2023

Anglian built a conservatory for me this year. The new doors and windows don't open properly and the fitters destroyed my underfloor heating during the installation. I am left with a room that doesn't work and I am financially out of pocket. Their aftercare service is non-existent. I have never experienced such a poor service before.

“Avoid terrible company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BabsPrzyb on 17/06/2023

We ordered rolling doors with installation. The product is good but the whole experience of dealing with this company was a joke! They took the deposit. The contract was not provided despite the rep's assuring us that we would get the paperwork via email. We never heard from the rep after the initial meeting. After several contacts with customer service, we eventually received the contract via post. We had to chase the info about the installation. Then, they changed the installation date in less than 24h without making sure we were aware of that. As a result, we had to rush back home from work to accept the installation team a day earlier that booked. We were told if we did not accept the installation that day It would not happen for the next few weeks as the main engineer was going on holiday the next day. The depo in Bristol (who was responsible for the installation) does not answer the phone at all. The senior manager cannot put together a proper email to explain all the mishaps. We refused to pay until we have an apology and explanation for the horrible customer service. They sent us a letter threatening legal action 3 days after installation despite we were in dispute. Keep in mind in the contract states they charge 4% interest on a daily basis if the payment is not on time. And it doesn't matter if you are happy or not with what they have done. Eventually, they admitted their faults and offer us compensation as a goodwill gesture (we have got all that in writing). We never received the compensation. It is now 2 months since.

“NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Toonraider1964 on 27/04/2023

3 years ago I had the misfortune of having my doors and windows replaced by Anglian. I was left with a front door we could not lock or unlock if the sun made even the briefest of appearances. Unfortunately for myself it was one of the hottest summers on record. The doors and windows are draughty, they leak, there is no noise reduction, oh, and they are either too small or too big for the openings. Anglian don’t worry about that though. Once you have issued court proceedings against them because they will not repair or replace, they just forge the documents. It doesn’t matter that you already submitted the original documents in evidence already. They even forged my signature on an alleged electronic contract. They misled about offering a replacement door. So, we are ordered by the Court to instruct an independent expert, a Single Joint Expert, an expert in Fenestration and Construction matters, cute letters after his name too. I objected to Anglian using someone from GGF or Fensa as I pointed out to the Judge, Anglian pay a ton of money to be accredited to these bodies. Remember that last little nugget folks. Anyway I get to put forward a bunch of totally impartial experts and Anglian got to choose. The inspection took place and a report was put forward to the Court. It is very lengthy, it is also very damning, here is an excerpt….. ‘ the works to install replacement uPVC doors and windows fall below the minimum standard of workmanship detailed by the Glass and Glazing Federation and compliance with Building Regulations via FENSA; these entail a minimum technical competence scheme for which installers can be registered via a card scheme. Anglian Home Improvements appear to have not complied with these minimum standards and as a result have not provided windows and doors that are fit for purpose’. At this point you would think they would give in, hold their hands up, but oh no. They have messed me around for another 7 months to date. They unsuccessfully tried to get an injunction February 2023 to stop me posting on social media just like this. ANGLIAN HOME IMPROVEMENTS ‘LOWERING THE STANDARD SINCE 2020’

“Avoid at all costs!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by UpsetPeter on 26/03/2023

AVOID at all costs!!! Absolute sham company who once they have your money will not resolve or comply with any warranty! Contact me directly and I’ll provide a rundown of over 4 years, 8+ engineers, dozens of emails, dozens of calls… yet our £3,000 door/frames still not replaced when Anglian have confirmed themselves in writing it’s a manufacturing fault and would be replaced! They treat customers with utter contempt!! Small Claims / County Court action is only way to hold them accountable - Name the Directors as the Responsible Company liaison and that will go on their personal record and against future directorships! AVOID!!!

“AVOID AT ALL COSTS”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Thomasxq167 on 10/03/2023

NEVER, EVER USE ANGLIAN WINDOWS. You will regret it. Timeline of events 1st October 2021 we contacted Anglian Windows to replace our original sash windows for double glazed sash windows - one set upstairs and one set downstairs. 5th November 2021 we contracted Anglian Windows to do the work and paid deposit of £2386 (total cost would be approx £11,930). 7st December 2021 survey took place for the windows 1st April 2022 scaffolding put up - all good so far! 10th May 2022 installation started, old windows broke out of ground-floor windows. End of day the installation was halted by us. No installation took place for the upstairs windows as the downstairs windows were clearly wrong size - we lost 37% of the glazing size and the room was significantly darker 10th May 2022 Anglian admitted their mistake and said they would remeasure, replace and reinstall new windows at correct size. Surveyor quickly returned to measure up. We agreed to this solution. From 10th May until 3rd August, we constantly contacted the local depot and customer services to understand the install date. Sometimes calling every day, with no answer. No information was given whatsoever and on the majority of occasions, not a single call back. 3rd August customer services told us to email CEO complaints. We did this. No reply given. Mid August, we spoke to the local depot responsible for the windows and we were informed that the new windows HADN'T been ordered and it would take another 3-6 months. This conversation was rude, and upsetting and when we put the phone down we received a pocket dial from the depot manager who we heard call my husband a ' f****ing see you next tuesday' in front of his whole office. At which point we made a formal complaint about the service received, and were reallocated to an area manager. This area manager verbally agreed to a £2000 discount for the works and guaranteed that the windows would be installed in January 2023. October 2022 - they came to box the internal windows back in as it was a total eyesore. They saw this as a 'gesture of goodwill'. 7th November 2022 - scaffolding still up on our house after being up for 6months. We started receiving complaints from our neighbours. Early Jan 2023 - we received a call to say 'there may be an issue with our new windows but they were doing all they can to get windows in on date they promised'. 20th January - install date but no one showed up or contacted us. A few days later we received a call to say the windows had been mismade AGAIN, and that installation wouldn't be until 24th April 2023. The area manager was sympathetic with us, and said we'd received terrible service. He admitted that if it were him in this situation, he wouldn't go ahead with window installation. He agreed a refund on deposit was appropriate and would pass us over to insurance and compensation team to repair the damage to our house. From this point, we didn't hear anything from them, despite nonstop chasers. We were then sent a letter by the company solicitor saying that they would refund us our deposit and come collect the windows on confirmation of this offer (within 13 weeks). This would leave us with a gaping hole in our house and damages to our house. We have had back and forth from the lawyer, but every time the only solution they offer is a refund on the deposit and they'd come collect the windows. As you can see this not only has caused us significant distress, a huge amount of time lost (literally hundreds of calls and emails), financially worse off (we originally planned this in 2021 to avoid rising energy costs) and we have not had a single realistic solution. We are now forced to repair the damage they caused (professionals have told us they removed parts of the windows that we will now have to pay to replace) at a significantly higher cost. 1.5 years later, we are left with windows we do not want, distraught at the communications they have given us, and not had a single offer of compensation since. We have never had such horrendous service from a company before. Thinking of using Anglian? Run as fast as you can away from this company.

“Shocking quality. AVOID”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Farenden on 20/12/2022

Shocking quality. We paid for triple glazed, energy efficient windows. Once installed we commented to the installer how we could still hear outside noises, whereas our other triple glazed windows (not Anglian) we couldn’t and also it felt draughty. Installer stated that it was due to the vents which were now a mandatory requirement. A few weeks later, still unhappy, my husband looked past the vents and found that the windows didn’t fit properly as there were big gaps at the top join! We firmly believe the installer knew this when he fitted them and tried to cover it up. Appalling. Wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy.

“Appalling customer service!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ErickGillespie323 on 19/10/2022

Do not expect good service, product I think is good if only it was installed well. If you have an issue do not expect it to be resolved effectively, if at all. I have been waiting a year so far. Somehow their failings are your problem and cost to come out of your pocket! From personal experience you can repeat yourself a 100 times they skip over all your questions and ask you the same question you have answered 100 times, impossible to get a solution. Raise a complaint even and you still get nothing! I have been waiting a year and can say there is genuinely zero effort to help you or correct or make amends for their mistakes. when spending large amounts of money you need to be able to trust in a company. You cannot trust your save choosing Anglian. Be warning, a decision I hugely regret

“Terrible service, poor workmanship and fictitious...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Sam407 on 13/10/2022

I ordered 6 replacement timber-framed windows from Anglian and paid my deposit. At the time, they quoted a 6-8 week delivery and assured me that I could have them in the same colour as my existing windows (just a standard Dulux Weathersfield colour). Then the surveyor came and said he wasn’t sure about a colour match and delivery would be closer to 8-10 weeks. Then they said that they couldn’t match the colour and it had to be a standard RAL colour, and I’d have to buy an RAL chart book and let them know which I wanted. I did so, but the samples were nowhere near to my existing windows. Then, like previous customers, I was ‘ghosted’ and no-one replied to any emails or phone calls. Nothing happened for months, until I contacted their trade association (the Glass and Glazing Federation), when I finally got a response to say that, yes, that could match the colour after all and they then sent me acceptable samples. After further ‘ghosting’, and numerous formal complaints, I eventually got a delivery date - just a couple of days short of a year after I had paid the deposit! The installation was a disaster! The scaffolders arrived a day after he fitters, most of the windows had some minor damage, the ‘trickle vents’ were the wrong colour, they used huge amounts of silicone sealant (which looked a mess), broke roof slates and gutters and left a load of clearing up to do. I complained immediately - and was ‘ghosted’ again. Then, almost 6 months later, I got an email with a proposed date to fix the problems with “my recent installation”. I declined the proposed date and said I wanted to speak to a manger to agree the work required and to discuss compensation. Guess what - no returned call and their guys turned up on the proposed date anyway (without scaffolding)! I sent them away - and then I got some returned calls. I still got no joy, so threatened legal action. Then I spent months arguing with their legal department about my “minor issues”. They insisted that I paid the outstanding balance and then claimed on my guarantee! I refused and, after prolonged argument, suggested that they carry out their threat of court action for non-payment! They didn’t and agreed to fix the problems before I paid, and agreed a modest (in my opinion) discount. After just short of 2 years since I paid the deposit, I got the windows, roof and gutter fixed and, in a few days, was chased for payment. Dreadful, terrible, rude, inefficient and, without doubt, the worst people I have ever dealt with. DO NOT GIVE THESE SHARKS YOUR BUSINESS - YOU’LL REGRET IT

“Customer service just ignores you even if job not finished”

★★☆☆☆

written by TerryDonnelly412 on 23/08/2022

They did a good job, until they broke something on my house and although they said they'd fix it and make it right... They just ghosted me. They replied when I said I'd be interested in new windows and doors as well, but as soon as I said I'd like the soffit/fascia job made right first they literally just ghosted me... They don't do customer service, they don't care. The lads that came to so the work didn't even bring their own bottled water when it was hot outside... Demanding me to keep them hydrated. This is pretty unprofessional. Obviously I was happy to give them water but a big company like Anglian should think about these things first and at least bring something to drink. It's basic. This company is ridiculous.

“Appalling customer service / Quality - DO NOT USE!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by phil.taylor on 20/08/2022

I rarely write reviews but feel compelled to alert potential future clients of Anglian Windows of the shocking service we experienced. This will seem a long review but in no way reflects the protracted list of issues we experienced from start to finish over 14 months, however I will try to keep this succinct. We chose Anglian after several quotes and lots of research because of their assurance of “unparalleled levels of customer service” and quality of materials and workmanship. Regrettably, nothing could be further from the truth. We placed our order in May 2021 and a survey was completed in June, we scrutinised this and found it to be incorrect, the revised version was also incorrect so this took 3 attempts. The installation was delayed until Sept and during and after this a large number of snags were identified by both the fitters and ourselves. These included scratched windows with scuffed/chipped upvc frames; faulty locking mechanisms & handles; so called ‘easy-clean’ openers were almost impossible to budge; some windows badly fitted with twisted rubber seals and water pooling after first rainfall. The scaffolding was unsafe according to the fitters and I spent weeks scraping up silicone sealant from the perimeter of the house. We were asked to send comprehensive evidence including a list of all snags and images which took some time. We then spent the next couple of months chasing this up with little or no response, and finally got an engineer visit to rectify the faults in Nov 21, which unfortunately only rectified a few issues as the engineer had not been properly briefed and had forgotten the correct windows and parts to replace. This was followed by a further 4 failed engineer visits up to June 2022, all with equally similar experiences. Communication over this protracted period was shocking, I tried relentlessly to contact the NW branch, based in Stockport, the phone is never answered (I since learned the national team can never reach them either). After many e-mails and phone calls I escalated to the national customer support team who were very supportive, however the regional branch has full autonomy in handling their own complaints so when it goes wrong the national team are in effect powerless to intervene. At one stage I wrote a polite email to the NW branch expressing our disappointment and copied this to the Senior Customer Services manager, Director of Operations, and 11 other senior personnel and didn’t receive a single response from anyone. When I eventually reached a senior customer operations manager from NW branch, he told me in a rude manner he was too busy to deal with this and it was also proven on two occasions I was deliberately misled by this manager. This appears to be a culture which is deeply embedded within the NW branch of Anglian. I finally wrote to the CEO in Norwich and thankfully was contacted by their national lead for customer operations who was very helpful but also was unable to really expedite the protracted issues or resolve the problems. By now I had lost approx. £700 in lost salary taking time off for engineer visits (they say they can arrive anytime between 8am-5pm and normally arrive around 4pm if at all). I politely requested some compensation as this was entirely out of my control and they offered me £50 – I declined and chose to seek legal advice, after which they eventually offered £250 which I accepted in protest as I was completely exhausted with the whole experience. Even this was a shambles as they incorrectly completed a cheque which my bank invalidated, and Anglian didn’t even pay postage so I had to retrieve it from the Royal mail sorting office and pay their fees!...you just couldn’t write this!! The snags were finally completed almost 12 months after installation, after experiencing a year of significant stress, inconvenience and lost salary. Finally, if you do go ahead and trust the other reviews in Anglian’s glossy brochures (like we did) make sure you receive your FENSA certificate and guarantee, something else we had to chase up for months, not suprising given the appalling quality and shocking workmanship / customer operations from the NW branch. My advice…don’t consider this shambles of a firm for a single second!!!

“Avoid At All Cost ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KarlieStewart on 06/07/2022

After waiting for 4 months for our “ Aglian Installation “ the nightmare began, they sent two guys out who where “window fitters” one whom was a previous driver for DPD and in his own words had “ just picked it up”. he had a skin head mohecan tattoos on neck and face a great start, really good image even our neighbours commented on how dodgy he looked and true to word he was. After starting without a saw blade I had to give him one it just got better, mate do you have a jigsaw, screwdriver, then a petrol sthilsaw I said I am not HSS. He initially said 3 dys it took nearly 7 kept arriving late every day going to another job cut and bobged tv aerial asked for payment while work ongoing we had no tv for 3 days, I had to get engineer and recharge Anglian scaffold came a week early then was incorrect. Upshot is I have badly measured windows and doors which are full of filler and plastic strips they are worse than the old ones we removed. I have had numerous problems engineer apologies now asking for refund or full replacement sent two emails if no response by Friday I am being forced to take legal proceedings against them, I don’t know how they sleep at night I have never experienced anything like this before I have serious mental illness problems as well as epilepsy all of which is now having a detrimental impact upon my and my families health they should be ashamed and all for the princely sum of £6400 what a deal

My experience of Anglian is that they will put in the absolute minimum they can get away with, I have now been fighting Anglian for almost 18 months and even had a solicitor acting on my behalf, they then insisted on an independent expert to come to my home and check the quality of the windows they had installed, the expert slated all of the windows and even said that they were so bad they could never achieve the standard set by Anglian let alone a good standard, and, as such they would all need to be taken out and replaced, and yet Anglian will still not respond to the solicitors request to settle this mater, so if you have not yet ordered your doors, I would suggest you go else where, if you have ordered them, good luck in trying to get them to resolve any issues you have.

I would not recommend Anglian because of their lack of aftercare. I achieved some compensation but it takes a huge amount of effort to get any response from the local office. The head office reassure you that the problem will be sorted but they do not pursue the issue just pass it onto the local office! And that is where it stops.

Have any other Anglian customers in Kent had damage done by fitters and found they tried to cover this up and have you had problems with trying to get recompense which was agreed, but not settled and are still waiting? I am putting together a list for the CEO for when I have enough response.

Hi, I am sorry that you are joining the thousands of unhappy customers of Anglian Windows, I am from Surrey and have been trying to get Anglian to court for the past 7 months and even with a solicitor constantly contacting then they are doing everything in their power to delay matters and we believe that this is purely to get me to either run out of money or just give up altogether, but neither of these will happen for what they have put me through is unbelievable, the windows they supplied are not fit for purpose which every person who has had these windows installed can prove, for according to Anglian's own specification sheet , the window only covers the frame by 2 - 3mm which does not even touch the only seal fitted to the frame and allows the wind, cold and noise to come into my house and the heat go out, which is not what they promised to give me or anyone else, all they keep saying is that the are the industry leaders, not true, for every other manufacturer we can find gives an overlap of between 6 - 10mm all round their windows and they also have two " Q-LON" seal, which have proven to be the industry best, so no I will not give up until I can get this company to court and show everyone how badly they have been conned out of the money they paid in good faith, and finally I will be putting everything in the National Newspapers in the hope of destroying this company before they destroy too many more peoples lives. Good luck and all the best in your fight. Regards.

Swanley and Orpington Anglian damaged property, promised compensation, promised window boards and left windows with only wallpaper against the outside world. Their rendering has fallen off twice. New window frames damaged. The staff all lied. The CEO ignored all communications. Fensa and The Glazing Ombudsman are obviously in Anglian's back pocket. 11 months after it was started the job is still incomplete. Anglian failed to answer any communication from TGO who still ruled in their favour.

hello - so sorry about the problems you are having with them. Quite frankly I fail to see why they are still in business - they must be the number one contender for litigation against them. Given their appalling track record I feel that just waiting for a response would be a complete waste of your time. I think it would be money and time well spent getting some proper legal advice on the appropriate steps to take. Unfortunately they will not take any notice of you if you are acting without any substantial backup. From reading previous feedback on this site there are lots and lots in the same boat as you and it would appear they are gathering together their resources to finally get a resolution out of the 'company' and hopefully stop them from trading. Perhaps WATCHDOG would be interested again - check out their video on You Tube - very interesting. I sincerely hope you get this resolved asap. Please keep us informed on your progress.

Hi Didn`t have the same problem, I live in Hampshire and it took Anglian 11 months to recectify leaks in our conservatory, from when they installed it.  Lots of broken promises, directors of the company are a waste of space, i.e. no reply to letters/e mails. It seems that once they have your money nothing else matters. Good luck in your quest.

Had the Birmingham branch supply substandard products - everything came with defects and damage - the colour difference and the different profiles can be seen from a distance. They tried a further 3 times with replacement items and still couldn't provide any decent quality products or provide an installer who had a clue how to install the items. They couldn't even put a warranty on the products or workmanship. In the end, I used section 75 to release me from their incompetence.

The CEO is where the problem lies with that company, I have been fighting with Anglian for over a year as my white UPVC started going yellow in 18 months they tried every trick in the book to say it hadn't . But to cut a long story short I took them to Small Claims Court on the Money Claims Online site and asked for a refund as Trading Standards said their work isn't fit for purpose and that they don't honour their warranty so you have the right to claim. In the end they were too scared to face me in court and they settled in full, they are all mouth but when it actually comes to court they won't go

Hi there it appears that my installation date of the 21st of March is no going ahead. I am not happy about a new install date that isn't until the 21st of April. We signed the Contracts back in November and were promised the work will be done in February. Why are there so many delays in resolving our installation and can we please have this resolved quickly we are not happy at all? Can we claim this is breach of Contract or force them to do he installation more quickly? We have been assured all the items are available to install. Regards Stefan Fisher

Hello - You need to talk or  the Customer Care Manager at their CEO office in Norwich. I went through the normal Customer Services and they were as much use as a bucket with a hole in it. So take your problem to the top of the chain which is this guy. Although I can't promise anything with Anglian as the whole firm seems pretty useless. Check the Sale of Goods and Services Act first to see if you have grounds to get your money back. If you can get out of the contract, then that would be great because the product once installed might turn out to be another further nightmare. Good Luck

Hi Stefan As I am still in the process of being taking to court by Anglian - even though they admit poor building work. your question about Breach of contract? Well due to Anglian arrogant attitude due to they are a Goliath company have nothing to loose but just one unhappy customer? They also have a in house legal team -- Did you have a agreed date in writing? If not you may struggle to prove breach of contract.. My advice is to ask for every correspondence in writing and do not speak on the telephone.. If you find it difficult writing letters record all telephone conservation for your own use-only. You can use recordings to help to assist you to record what was said. I also believe you can use them as evidence if required in court.. But I really hope it doesn't come to that for you... We are looking down a barrel of a gun with this horrible company. 'And Anglain if reading this I can prove how horrible and nasty you are'!! I will never recommend Anglain ever and will never sign a contract with anyone ever again. We have had a base and wall only for 16mths now. You image having paid two deposits amount to thousands of pounds, having that in your garden and none of it is your fault... If I can help you in any way please contact me but if not good luck... And don't let Anglian Ltd / Home improvement bully you!! kind regards

Hi, the best thing to do to get this resolved is to contact the main manager of anglian windows who got my very poor 8 year leaking window sorted out from Anglian windows not installing a lintel in my window. Other than that he should call trading standards & the ombudsman and report Anglian windows for breach of contract. I hope this has been of help. Kind regards

Hi there - Due to the ugly nature of this company, it would be money well spent to get some proper legal advice on what to do next e.g. if you can possibly get out of this contract that would be by far the best thing to do. Take some professional advice quickly and see what your options are before this goes on any longer. I hope you can escape from this.

Speak to trading standards and speak to your credit card company, if you paid money on a credit card to Anglian. Speaking to Anglian appears to be a waste of time - they are only interested in the money, not the quality or the customer service.

Do not bother with the ombudsman. Anglian ignore all their requests for information and then they still rule in their favour - despite the overwhelming evidence against them. The ombudsman admits to having no knowledge of consumer law or building regulations. Fensa are just as useless!
