My 77 year old mother bought a three piece suite in July last year, the cushions were all odd sizes, it is sooo uncomfortable to sit on then just before the guarantee ran out the springs broke in one of the chairs, they are fobbing her off now saying she is not entitled to her money back and that the manufacturers will arrange to come and fix it, this was two months ago and she hasnt heard anything since. My elderly father ordered a pair of shoes a couple of months ago but the firm sent the wrong pair (their mistake) He returned them straight away, asked them to send the correct pair, and he still hasn't received them. My elderly dad asked me to order him a mobile table from Chums. I ordered it and the item was rickety and sloped forward so there's was no chance of a cup of tea staying upright. Unfortunately he had binned the box so I could not return it. I did try and email the company but I did not receive a reply (awful!!!) so that's £30 down the drain. The dear old mother-in-law gave me a copy of the Chums catalogue as she knew I wanted a couple of items and had seen some in the book. Off went I signed up and placed my order. Some three weeks later I e-mailed them to find out what had happened to the items, only to be told there had been a problem with my order at the warehouse. I orderd a skirt in Brown for my mother as she can't get out to the shops. They sent Taupe which was another colour that they made it in. I sent it back and only received the cost of the skirt not the postage and as they sent the wrong item I think they should have refunded it all. I wouldn't use them again… Read Full Review

I have ordered twice from them and they delivered both products within a reasonable time. The first product I was happy with but the second product did not quite fit properly so I sent it back within 7 days. Unfortunately I was refunded for the product, but not the postage costs. This policy for me contradicts the 'spirit' of the Distance Selling Regulations, which is disappointing. 29th October place an order for a globe decanter for my Dad's birthday on the 4th November. Realised it could take up to 10 days for delivery which was fine. After 10 days, no delivery! As usual,delivery time was as promised and prompt,but,BEWARE!!! the 10p per minute call charge to place your order. After 5 attempts on the 18th October to actually speak to someone,2 of which were just cut off in mid-call,i've just checked on my call charges for my phone,and the calls cost £8-00!! When this is added to the cost of the order.i.e.£59.97+£4-25p&p= ££64-22 a total of £72-22 is arrived at. I really don't know why so many people have had problems with Chums. I have shopped for years and only once had an issue which turned out to be no fault of theirs (the item was actually left in my greenhouse but no-one told me). When I first started using Chums, they were OK, but in recent years, they seem to have gone down the pan. I ordered some cotton trousers some time back but the stupid thing about them was that the tie cord fastens at the front INSIDE the trousers, which means that the waist band of the trousers themselves bells OUT at the front. THIS IS THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH.And I have dealt with many as I am chronic ill and only shop online.
Beginning of November 2010 I ordered some chair cushions for myself. These eventually arrived. Were not great quality but were a special offer so not expensive and do the job for now.

Ordered several items, they took the amount from my card IMMEDIATLEY, 26 Nov. Part of the order arrived just prior to Christmas. Many e-mails later, they phone me, 30/12/10, saying that overdue items will not be stocked or never were! and will send me a cheque for the balance which I should receive in 10 - 14 days. I ordered a coat for my nan in July still not had called spent around £10 in calls said they do cheque trace they never received the cheque because when they get orders they all get put on one pile and cheque just get cashed . yes take my money first so sometimes orders go missing what a awful way to run a business, and I know someone who worked for this company BEWARE CON ARTISTS they take your money and that is all they are bothered about, the profit margins are sky high.
