To anyone looking for travel insurance this year I would recommend against @InsureandGoAU as they DO NOT cover cancellation by airline (with a top tier insurance policy) even though their website claims they do!!!!

“Awful company”

Awful company Awful company and thats without actually insuring with them. Advertised on line doing motorcycle travel insurance and when you read the policy details they dont cover it, and the premium they quoted to not cover me was twice as expensive as specialist cover from another company who i will be using in future. Then to add insult to injury they continually harras you to take the policy by phone calls and e-mail despite me requesting to have my details removed. Having asked on more than one occasion and clicked unsubscribe its not happened, the next contact they make will result in a complaint to the ICO. EDIT 14th June - Yet more spam from them by letter this time.

“Told to self fund my Mum repatriation ”

My mum died abroad in a tragic accident in Oct 2022. Despite her spending £485 on Gold Annual Travel insurance as a family we received no support in her repatriation. We were pushed around various companies that are under the banner of Insure & Go having to painful repeat information. We were advised by them that their process was so lengthy we should self fund my mothers repatriation and to find our own local funeral directors in Norway. The repatriation costs have still not been paid 6 months later. This is beyond shocking. I want no other family to experience this. No empathy and disjointed services. Beware they do not fulfil their obligations of one of the stated key policy benefits; repatriation and their marketing literature claim that they pay most claims within 5 days. Reply to Insure & Go: this case is currently under investigation by the Financial Ombudsman after a insufficient response from a complaint made through Insure & Go and Zurich Life and World Travel Protection

“Would not reccomend to an enemy, let alone a friend”

Here we are 15 months after my original complaint, and they are still trying to make me jump hoops over and over again for a claim relating to a trip that got abandoned due to Covid-19. I've sent them all the information requested, over and over again and still get the same responses from them. It's as if those that are reviewing claims cannot read because all the information relating to the claim and relevant invoices etc are laid out in front of them. I really wouldn't reccomend them to an enemy let alone a friend, it's a waste of money.

Terrible customer service. insureandgo are quick to take you money but if you dare try and cancel annual auto renewal suddenly they are impossible to contact. Avoid!!!

“Do not touch this lot with a barge pole!!!”

Do not use this company. I’ve used them many times over the last 5 years but when I actually had to make a claim on my insurance I have been treated abominably! I have now been waiting for 6 months for my perfectly legitimate (and modest) claim to be settled. They try at every juncture to avoid contact or respond in any meaningful way and I now believe that they have no intention of honouring our contract. My complaint is now with the Ombudsman (along with many others about this company) but I’m afraid that this will make little impact on such a company who care nothing for their customers - My advice is to use a reputable company and don’t touch this lot with a barge pole!

“DO NOT BUY ANY POLICIES WITH THEM!”

This is the worst insurance ever. I made a claim 4 months ago and I haven't got any response yet. They say that the response time is up 30 business days but it's not true. When they reach those 30 days they send you an email asking for another document, which were already uploaded in the system to start the period again. They don't answer to my emails, I can't get through over the phone and via the chat they always say "I can't get into the system now to check". The same answer every single time! I had an annual policy that has just expired so now I can't even get into the system to see if my claim is still there, which I don't think it is. It's disgusting!!!

This insurer is sham, they do not pay claims. There business model is take your premiums then deny. It is simply not good enough. They have the worst name in the business, please avoid insure and go you are not covered with them. You might as well get your money and flush it down the toilet than give it to them.

“Totally insensitive and 'couldn't care less'”

Insure and Go's response to the CV-19 problems for those of us with Annual Travel policies has been a simple 'You are not insured if you catch CV-19'. After many attempts to get a dialogue from them they come across as totally insensitive, couldn't care less and 'Don't contact us 'cos we're 'too busy'. Answers to my questions remain unanswered from March. No response from the CEO (the company is listed as a 'British company' but is owned by a Spanish Firm'). 'Insure and Go' seem to only be concerned with diversionary tactics resulting in the latest rouse of saying they have NOW (I first wrote in March) made it a formal complaint and they have up to 8 weeks to respond .... that will take it over 5 months to get simple answers from them! Based on this I would be in severe doubt that they would be any better if I had a claim with them.

totally agree - trading under virgin brand name - supposedly reputabe brand - refusing to pay £900 of travel insurance. 6 emails + phone call and still nothing. Do not use them.

“Travel insurance is all about when you have to claim”

I insured with Insure and Go travel insurance for a flight recently. They have a really easy front end and are super cheap. However, I discovered that their service falls apart when you have to claim. Its a stereotype isn't it? Easy to pay for insurance but hard to claim. Well, you get what you pay for. I had a simple claim; my laptop was damaged during the flight. I claimed at the end of November 2019 and am still waiting for settlement mid January 2020. I called their customer services and they said 6-8 weeks was acceptable to resolve a claim. If I'd known that I never would have gone with them. They should have to display their average processing time along with their charge.

“Happy to take premium not to help when claiming”

Having taken out an annual policy for my son in January with worldwide/sport etc as a present. I wish I had read reviews before taking it out. I helped my son make a claim as he had to cancel a holiday (flight and air bnb accommodation) due to having to have an operation. Insure and Go have been less than helpful, putting extra requirements and barriers in our way, they did advise us we have 6 years to claim (I now know why)!!. The claim is for approx. £400 which to a student is a lot of money which he had saved from various jobs. I have lost the will to live with this company and will NOT use them ever again and am warning, friends family and media groups to avoid this company at all costs. I will give my son the money rather than waste any more time on INSURE & GO, which is probably what they intend.

I am having the same trouble as you. I have been with insure and go for 6 years I've never had to make a claim until my husband was taken into hospital August 2019. Despite letters and forms from medical staff I'm still waiting for my refund. I would never recommend this company to my enemies let alone friends and family

I have just received a renewal notice. The premium for the coming twelve months has increased by almost 75%. As I have had no claims, this is ridiculous. I have decided that I will take out a travel insurance policy with a well-known company rather than just someone on the internet. We all want cheaper prices but reading some of the reviews on this website just makes me shudder. You have my sympathies.

“Don't use this company!”

All is fine until you need to make a claim and then you are faced with one barrier after another. They want to take your money but they do not want to pay out. We had booked 3 flights which we had to cancel due to sudden illness we needed numerous pieces of paper and a full medical history for every claim! I will never use them again. Whatever we sent they wanted more. I believe the whole purpose was to get us to drop the claim - it only made me more determined. Do not use this insurer.

I am in process of making claim they have been a nightmare.I ended up in Hospital in Majorca for 8 days after putting out my back,they were atrocious ,I had gold policy which is not worth the paper it's written on ,I needed an MRI scan & was asked if I could pay for it ,I said no I have insurance was told if I couldn't pay I wouldn't get 85- I didn't get it.They were constantly promising to phone/email & never did I spent over 3.5 hrs over 3 days phoning them while,flat on my back on oxygen & morphine .
I was asked about weight & height to get air ambulance back to uk,but they didn't want to pay saying if there were 3 empty seats in a row on a charter flight I could lie across them! I had to ensure normal seat in regular flight.
The list goes on & on of how incompetent they are the amount of stress caused for saying they wouldn't pay for things & still goes on with claiming expenses.Still don't answer messages .
I have told them im making a complaint against them,I have written to the Ombudsman,also to BBC programme " RIP OFF BRITAIN.
I wouldn't wish anyone else to go through the he'll I've gone through.DO NOT USE Insure & Go

“Do not expect them to pay claims....”

We have used this company many times & recommended to our friends, based on the great reviews. Unfortunately this company was great until a claim was made. The insurance was taken out at the same time as the trip was paid, which was about 10 months prior to travelling. Unfortunately 5 days prior to the trip my husband had an accident & broke his arm, but as this did not affect his ability to fly we did not advise the insurance company of his accident. BIG MISTAKE! My husband had paid for a tour in Europe, which cost $6,000.00, but due to his accident he was unable to go on this tour. On arrival in Europe, 6 days after the accident, we advised the insurance company of the accident, in the expectation that any claim we made would be honoured. We completed the paperwork when we arrived back home only to discover that NO, they wouldn't cover because we didn't advise of the accident before the trip & also any accident that happens before you go, that doesn't cause cancellation of the trip, isn't covered, They sent copies of their documents which states this is so. I have to say I did read the PDF document when the insurance was taken out but I didn't take note of that point. It's obviously a case of buyer beware & believe me I'm very aware now. I will NEVER use this company again & will advise all others not to either!!

“unfriendly, and very limited coverage for the price”

I damaged a tire on a rental car traveling in Europe. I hadn't taken coverage with the car rental firm because we believed damage would be covered by Insure and Go. The cost of a replacement tire was 311 Euros. Insure and Go required *extensive* documentation with a claim form--passport, drivers licence, rental documentation, photographic evidence of damage, official records of travel, etc, etc, etc. I complied with these demands and submitted the claim. After being ignored several times, and then with a renewed demand for all the documentation, which I supplied, I got the blunt response: No. The damage is not covered. Talk about adding injury to insult. So, take my advice: do not, under any circumstance, take travel insurance with Insure and Go. You might want to make a legitimate claim.

“Pointless insurance”

Insureandgo. I gave one star for rating only because the website would not allow no stars. Over the past three years I have had three occasions to claim. Each occasion has been an uphill struggle to get them to do anything. The latest issue is a recent ski injury to my wife. Their advice(assistance) was to use my EHIC card and go to the local hospital. What is the point of the insurance? I will never insure with them again and recommend no one else bothers. They are useless and do all they can t avoid helping.

“Terrible claims service!”

Terrible claims service! I have been with Insure and Go for 6 years on an annual insurance policy and have not needed to claim up to now. I put a very simple claim through nearly 3 months ago and have heard literally nothing since. I have chased and chased and have been fobbed off by the central call center operators who can not tell me anything about the claim after holding for at least 30 mins each time to before someone answered. There is no opportunity to talk directly to the claims team, so have come up against a brick wall. I then registered a complaint and was told that someone would get back to me within 72 hours, guess what, no contact. 5 days later they sent an email saying sorry and they would look in to it within the next 5 days, I'm not holding my breath. This service is totally unacceptable and not what I expected from a company who put so much effort into marketing and promotion. The cover and costs are attractive but do not be fooled. An insurance company who avoid claims like the plague is not an insurance company as far as I am concerned, they are a marketing machine, happy to take your cash, but have an unbelievably poor back end infrastructure and terrible customer service.

“Pre existing Medical conditions- discrimination ”

After using InsureandGo for several years with and without my ‘Pre existing medical condition ‘ I was astounded and disgusted to be refused cover yesterday. 19 months ago I had surgery for bowel cancer. The tumour was completely removed and I left hospital with a clean bill of health. I am very fortunate that I did not need any further treatment. One month later I decided to take a short holiday so I renewed my annual policy. I went through the medical screening with InsureandGo and was covered. A few months later I called InsureandGo to add on worldwide cover as I was traveling to the USA. Again I went through the medical screening and I was given cover. Imagine my confusion when yesterday I was renewing my policy and After going through the medical screening- (which was no different from the others I had completed, )I was told that every 6 months they review their medical coverage and that now I am now a bigger risk and cannot be covered!!! All medical evidence shows that my likelihood of reoccurrence of the cancer diminishes as time goes on. So clearly I am less of a risk 19 months after surgery with several CT scans to prove non reoccurrence of the cancer. Than I was 1 month after surgery. I take this as a discrimination without any medical grounds for their decision. I am utterly disappointed and discusted at the treatment I have received and will not be recommending InsureandGo ever again, far from it I will be recommending that people don’t use them.

the policy is not worth the paper it is written on.looks good on at first sight but there are so many exclusions they will try to wriggle out of any claim. currently complaining to ombudsman

Delayed travel due medical emergency with daughter to A&E. To rebook for a flight 2 days later with medical consent will cost an additional £569. Which section covers this for an insurance claim?
