I have just replaced the motor and axle on my Powerbug Sport X which has given me excellent service for over 6 years. The bug has the original battery which is still working well. Very good service from Powerbug, their spares service was excellent. Looking forward to another 5 or 6 years with my Power Bug Sport X Golf is still rubbish!

Cheap and Cheerful, you really do get what you pay for. Quality of trolley is ok, I've had no issues in past 18 months. HOWEVER battery life is maximum 9 months - my first battery was replaced free of charge when it failed after 8 months use, now 8 months later, and my second battery has developed fault - but of course American Golf and Powerbug refusing to refund/replace. Off to the small claims court!!

Unfortunately, lead acid batteries can sometimes be a problem and this is why PowerBug offer a 12 month warranty against this type of battery. All trolley manufacturers offer a 12 month warranty against lead acid batteries and all trolley suppliers suffer issues assosiated with them to some degree or other. PowerBug supplied lead acid batteries have a very high quality rating within this sector but....... they can still cause issues when they fail......as in this case. Your battery was reported as faulty within its warranty period by American Golf to PowerBug and it was replaced without question after testing. PowerBug could have asked for expert proof that the battery had failed due to a manufacturers fault supplied by the customer. This was not requested. 8 months later, another report was made in relation to another failing battery (16 month after the original date of purchase). In line with the 1979 Sale of Goods Act, American Golf would have advised their customer that they had enjoyed 16 months of usage from a lead acid battery with a 12 month warranty and the warranty period had expired. The 1979 Sale of Goods Act is in place to protect the customer and also suppliers from unreasonable claimants as the small claims court would advise. This is what a retailer will reply upon.
It is encouraging however to read that aside from the battery issue, the trolley is performing very well and providing good service.
Lead acid batteries require close attention to their charging regime and a large contributor to failing batteries is sulphation due to poor battery maintenance. Infomation in relation to this can be found with a quick surf on the web.

This trolly is the worst golf equipment i have ever bought. It's under powered unstable and the battery life is rubbish. The accessories are not the best i.e. the score card holder has to be positioned so far forward or the sky caddy holder so far rearward you can't see the speed numbers on the trolly just so you can open the score card lid. I had a PowaKaddy Classic for more than 15 years with no trouble compared this load of rubbish. DON'T BUY THIS GET A DIFFERENT ONE

The Pro Sport is my third Powerbug trolley over a period of ten years. During this period I had three - the original with L handle; the Sport and finally the Pro Sport. Other than two speed control switches (takes 5 mins to replace even for the lease mechanical of us) all three have been 100% reliable. Also during this period at least 25 of my golfing pals have bought various Powerbug models and again, no breakdowns whatsoever - speed control switch being the exception, in some cases. The Powerbug, Motocaddy and Trooper are all made by the same company in China. This company specialises in the manufacture of light aircraft and these trolleys reflect that company's exceptional design and manufacturing standards. Powerbug and Trooper have less gizmos than Motocaddy and the price reflects that. IMO steer clear of Powakaddy (and derivatives of which there are lots) as they are significantly more expensive, are structurally and mechanically inferior and are plagued by design and quality issues. If you don't believe me just have a look on ebay and see the number of mechanical spare parts therein. There's a good reason for that. For the record I have no association with Powerbug. I've posted this review for the benefit of others who might be swithering about which trolley to buy.

Thank you for your comments.
From 2008 we were able to 'switch' from the old potentiomitor speed control to a new digital platform. The old style was a mechanical solution and as with all moving parts did wear out. With the PowerBug brand expanding across Europe, growing production numbers gave us an economy of scale making the affordability of a digital platform a reality.
The good news... we believe that we have the most reliable product on the market
The bad news... Our on line spares sales are appalling!
Happy Golfing!

Very happy with my pro sport lithium. I manage 36 holes from the lithium battery on a single charge. The trolley just as reliable and impressive too. A great trolley and battery combo from Power Bug!

We bought two in April 2011 and I encountered a hinge failure within a few weeks, American Golf were very good and handed over a replacement trolley readily. My Wife gave up and returned to her old Hill Billy Lite within a year while I continued to use the powerbug. The hinge assembly failed on that unit, but OK I could use my Wifes', that is until the hinge failed on that one too. All these failures are on the lower part of the hinge, are identical in nature and indicate a manufacturing process weakness. The failure point is located at the weld line furthest from the injection point, and under the microscope there are clear indications that the weld is not forming as stongly as necessary. This could indicate poor injection tool temperature control. As a final point I have been watching the Powerbug web site for replacement hinge assemblies since July 2013 and have seen them to be out of stock at every visit - seems there could be a high replacement rate going on here.

Due to the infrequent requests for nylon components PB do not have this item on automatic re-ferb. As a result there was a stock issue for around 6 weeks whilst new stock could be obtained. With nearing 50,000 units in the market, PowerBug will see a demand for many items and try to stock to accommodate any eventuality. All electro mechanical devises will require attention from time to time
PowerBug quality is industry best and they are proud to advertise this
As always..... you cant please all the people all the time.
Its a shame........but a fact
Thankfully the PowerBug following is gaining massive momentum becoming a trusted friend to many golfers

Having just bought a second hand powerbug trolley with accessories I was disappointed to note that the retaining screw on the umbrella holder was missing. I emailed Powerbug customer services asking how I could obtain a replacement screw and the cost. There was no way of ordering a replacement screw on the website that I could discover, although I was impressed by the range of spares available. I was delighted to receive a replacement screw in the post a few days later, but no invoice - FREE OF CHARGE! I knew Powerbug had a good reputation but I consider this to be exceptional, so I said so. Dave JH

Used my ProTour Lithium for the first time today. Can't believe how light and small the Lithium battery is! VRAP is great too!

I am very impressed with my PowerBug that I purchased 18 months ago from American Golf. I have had other trolleys in the past but none compare to the quality and simplicity of use of this trolley.

I agree with David P. Due to a very busy work schedule, I had 1 day in the week I ordered my Power Bug where i would be in for delivery which was the next day. I called the customer service line and they were more than happy to assure it was sent that day on a next day delivery service. I have had other electric trolleys in the past and while talking to the lady at Power Bug I certainly noticed the difference in the level of service. It felt very Taylor made to my needs! My Power Bug arrived the next morning and if there's one thing I can't stand about new 'toys' it's working out how to assemble the things. But the Power Bug was so simple to fold up and down that I only needed to glance at the instructions to make sure I was charging the battery as advised! The performance is as expected, fantastic. These guys clearly know what they're talking about when it comes to this product. Being in the leisure industry in the past, I'd say with their service, price point and customer service, they've got it spot on!

Did a lot of research, this trolley is very similar to the Motocaddy, but is much better value.Ordered on Friday and was due for FREE delivery on Wednesday was unable to be there so phoned the office to reschedule to the Friday. The staff were very helpful and obliging and changed the delivery date. As promised it arrived on Friday. To add to my delight, Ihad ordered a store return model but what arrived was to all intents and purposes NEW! - Result. Easy to assemble, doddle to use, it does exactly what it says on the tin. With this level of product satisfaction and customer service, why would you buy anything else? David - North London.

Interesting comments David. You might be interested in my observations about Motocaddy and the obvious similarities to Power Bug. I have close friends who work for one of the big online suppliers of golf equipment and they too say 'have a look at Power Bug'.

The Power Bug Digital has lots of good points, such as, Lightweight but strong construction, Compact when folded down and easy to load into the boot of the car. Their Customer Service is very good and their Web site is well constructed with detailed information on spares and accessories. There are 2 'major' faults to be considered when buying. The On/Off switch is situated on top of the handle (common to other manufactuers trollies)and is Very sensitive and can easily be set off accidentally, risking injury to anyone in it's path. The second fault is the front wheel clogs up with mud in the winter (My course is very muddy) and even the addition of Hedgehog wheels doesn't cure the problem. If your course is reasonably dry in the winter then that is not a problem

Well I dont think much of it. Bought new in July battery only lasted few holes from the start. Phoned Powerbug twice ended up taking it 30 miles to get battery tested at cost of £10. Phoned Powerbug say battery faulty. Now I have to take it 20 odd miles so golf shop I bought it from can phone to tell them when I bought it etc.

Excellent service! I ordered Sunday Teatime and it arrived Tuesday am. Looks good just a simple design with a duel stop and speed control. This was supposed to be a store returned one but it still had all the origional packaging and not a mark on it, I'm delighted! the whole experience of buying on line from Powerbug was completely hassle free. I have recently purchased a PowerBug Pro-Sport Lithium trolley and I have to say, I have never used a more functional, hassle-free electric trolley in my many years of playing golf. Having had it for 4 months now, I have not had one problem thus far, and have enjoyed the silent, powerful motor it runs on. I usually play 18-holes down at my local golf club, but on the assurance of the PowerBug team, I tried playing 36-holes last week and it managed it with ease, and thats saying something seeing as I play at Hennerton Golf Club in Wargrave, a particularly hilly course! I have used previous PowerBug models, and although they were all very good, the lithium model really outdoes the others and it is so handy having a small, light-weight battery, rather than the rather large lead acid ones. In the past when my previous trolleys have broken-down, the PowerBug team have been so helpful and is the main reason I have stayed with them as their customer service is so good. I would really recommend using these guys if, like me, you are starting to find it hard lugging your cart bag around the golf course! I hope you guys find this helpful!

Had this trolley for a few years. Always thought it was good value for money. Had a small problem with a lost bolt, and the service received to fix it was great - let me have the missing part for free, taken from a part exchange trolley they had in. Never got this good after sales service from PowaKaddy, which is why I changed to this trolley when my PowaKaddy broke.

After buying my PowerBug Pro-Sport Digital Lithium at The Scottish Golf Show this year I feel I can now give a true review on this superb product.
This is my field test on my PowerBug Pro-Sport Digital Lithium LSR purchased on
27-04-2011.
Very lightweight and compact for both storage and for travelling.
Construction and design to a very high standard and very easy and quick to assemble, even for some who is Visually Impaired/Registered Blind like myself. It is also a stylish looking trolley.
Motor is powerful and unbelievably quiet and smooth. You could say the Rolls Royce of powered trolleys!
The Lithium battery is absolutely superb being not only powerful but unbelievably small and light. It is possibly the smallest battery on the market so far. I have played 36 holes on one charge with no power problems at all. Easy and quick to charge and can be partly charged with no effect on performance. Superb!
Wheels are great and can be adjusted so you can use your PowerBug as a normal trolley which is handy if you forget your battery.
Soft grip handle is very comfortable and the push button go/stop is so easy to use, with a good clear digital read out.
Bag securing straps are superb and hold the bag in snug as a bug! They are fully adjustable to suit any type of bag.
Packaging and delivery was first class and there is a superb after sales team with great support for any questions you may have. Most companies are not bothered once they have your money, the PowerBug team are there to help and are very professional.
I have over the years had two top of the range Powakaddy's and one Moto Caddy. My PowerBug Digital Lithium is by far the best I have used and I rate the unit with a 10 out of 10. I also believe it is without a doubt, the best product on the market for both price and quality.
As Del Boy would say, "Lovely Jubbly!"

Despite all the good reviews my own experience has been terrible. I bought the trolley in Spring 2007 and have had to replace the speed control in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and guess what, it has started to pack up again. The people at Power Bug are most unhelpful and insist that the fault is still the speed control despite me having replaced it three times. Would not have been so bad if some effort had been made on their part to solve the problem. Definitely not recommended.

As we all know, some people will try to employ bully boy tactics to obtain free product by making threats of bad publicity. These tactics are not appreciated as the PowerBug customer support team will always attempt to remain helpful. We are committed to and will continue to deliver innovative, premium quality products to market offering the best value for money. To allow us to do this, we have to employ a strict warranty period against all products sold by our company or representatives. This does not detract from our commitment to offer industry best customer support whether product is in or out of warranty. To suggest that the PowerBug customer help line is unhelpful is at best inaccurate and probably made because free issue product could not be bullied out of our company. As many readers have already commented, you will always get the odd one!

I had the same problem; bought two of them for my wife and I. one kept switching itself on again as you left it. last time it ran off while we were on the putting green and ended up in the water. Only 6 months old so we returned it to Powerbug they won't do anything as there was water in the parts (of course there was). Even wrote to the MD but they have just refused to do anything. Wanted to sell me another new one and I still don't even have the unit back.

I have come to the conclusion that mine must have been a rogue machine.
My wife has had one now for nearly a year with no problems.

There was no question of bullying anyone into giving free products.
I parted with the item in question and replaced it with something different before I posted the review.

Great product for the price this easily beats the more expensive makes hands down! Our course is quite hilly but this is never an issue runs day in day out and I probably play 72 holes plus a week. The staff are all only too willing to help and listen,
Steve

Ha ha.... Sorry about your golf but happy that the Sport x is still going strong. The Sport X was sold through COSTCO up to some 8 years ago. Are you sure that yours is only 6 years old? If you require any further help or assistance the PowerBug team are always available. Happy golfing!
