“0.35mbps after 'upgrading' from our old 3mbps service”

Written on: 06/07/2013 by philip99 (4 reviews written)

Absolute rubbush. DO NOT SWITCH TO SKY YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. SKY broadband connection is poor, the router is poor, and the customer service poor. We switched after a great offer of free sky tv and free broadband for a year. Now our broadband has gone from 3mpbs to 0.35mbps with SKY. It makes normal web surfing painful. Online chat is unavailable, and when we pay to call their customer service, we get an answer machine saying they are closed and call back between 7am-11pm... even though it is… Read Full Review

Philip99's Response to philip99's Review

Just as an update the SKY customer service has made my experience much much worse. Our broadband now cuts on and off, I have been trouble shooting with their online support, every time you make a change that disconnects your router they reset your online chat, so you have to start from scratch with a new customer service rep, go through their security, takes about 20 mins each time. I have been online now for 2 hours, and all we have done is unplug the router a few times... They now will be sending a BT Openreach engineer round to check our line (which has been working perfectly for years with O2), and I have just been told if I miss him I would be charged £100 for his call out fee. How about I charge you guys £100 for my wasted time. If you have broadband that works do NOT CHANGE TO SKY.

“Router keeps going faulty”

Written on: 29/06/2013

After many years with AOL (which supposedly was an inferior service, though I never had any issues) I moved to Sky Broadband because it was a really good offer. After a few weeks we had a fault and had an enginner callout and a new router. At this time it had taken nearly 2 weeks to resolve the issue. More time than I think it should have taken. Now I'm in the same situation again and after promised callbacks that don't happen I thought I'd come here and vent some anger at the really poor… Read Full Review

“Great Value, Great Speeds, Mostly Consistant”

Written on: 25/06/2013 by petercotton9999 (1 review written)

I moved from Tesco Broadband after having a shocking experience with speeds of only 2mbp. I decided to get Sky TV as my Virgin contact has expired and the Broadband/Phone/TV package seemed like a good deal. I was sceptical about their broadband as I've heard mixed reviews. The first week or so was slow, with maximum speeds of up to 5mbps. But this is to be expected while the line is tested for maximum consistent speeds. After a week, the speed levelled out at about 11mbps, and has pretty much… Read Full Review

“Awful, slow, unreliable”

Written on: 12/06/2013 by BeloDentro (1 review written)

because of what seemed like a good deal we Switched to Sky Broadband on 31st May and by 4th of June we couldn't take it any more it is soooo slow, you cannot do anything other than basic surfing and even then its unreliable. I actually had to connect my laptop to my iphone hotspot in order to use my 3g and had no problem whatsoever watching bbc iplayer. I have cancelled now (which took two hours and conversations with about 8 people) and gone back to my original provider who i've never had… Read Full Review

“Sky Broadband connect - traffic control policy - beware”

Written on: 09/06/2013

Due to the traffic control policy which seems to be implemented whether or not you are a "heavy user" this product does not seem suitable for anything other than basic web surfing. What is a little bit annoying is that they do not quantify what level of usage is deemed heavy. From my results monitoring hostlink response times it didn't seem to matter whether I had viewed a single web page or tried to do some online gaming. Speeds seem to be throttled down during peak times as a matter of… Read Full Review

“Rubbish broadband”

Written on: 03/06/2013

In a tiny house with Sky broadband, it doesn't work. We wake up every day with no wi-fi and Sky tell us it's our set up. We remind them it's their set-up and we still have no wifi. Rubbish rubbish rubbish. If anyone can see how tiny our house is and how short a distance any signal needs to travel, then they wouldn't complain. But according to sky it's us. Hmmm...? It's the window you can't see out of. It's the car with no wheels. It's the internet with no Internet. It's 0 out of 5… Read Full Review

“I'm impressed...”

Written on: 31/05/2013 by Maxlenn (1 review written)

I switched from BT Infinity to Sky Broadband on the 28th of May. after reading so many negative comments I hesitated at first, but couldn't afford to pay BT over £50 every month, so after speaking to one of Sky's representative on the phone I decided to go for it. it's such a good deal compared to BT - I'm saving hundreds. the switch as been straightforward - on the 28th at about 9am the connection with BT stopped, so I plugged in the Sky Hub and that was it - within few hours it was up and… Read Full Review

“Absolutely f-_-cking ridiculous ISP”

Written on: 27/05/2013 by jewjawrkaknfjkwan (1 review written)

Can't believe I live in a supposed 1st world country in 2013 and have an internet connection like this. I'm only home for a few weeks at my parents and I'm using their internet, I'm not even paying for it or using it for long but I still felt the need to write a review on it. Using the highest speed package and I live 5 miles away from a major UK City. Takes me 20 minutes to load a low quality youtube video. Average download speed is around 150kb/s-50kb/s. Internet will just cut out… Read Full Review

Written on: 23/05/2013 by Horus17 (1 review written)

The connection is absolutely terrible I have to reset the rooter every 5 minutes as it disconnects as soon as I reconnect it. Many online features don't load due to the rubbish broadband signals such as videos or online games etc. Don't go with Sky as its complete garbage! My cistern on my toilet provides a better connection then this company can!… Read Full Review

“Poor Unreliable Connection and Poor Speed. Avoid Sky”

Written on: 16/05/2013

I have had Sky Broadband for many years and I am now going to leave. The connection I get is unreliable and slow. It was better but every few months the speed mysteriously drops. I change nothing on my side but Sky always claim it is my equipment that is the issue. It takes ages to get through to anyone helpful at Sky. Last time I had an issue, it took 20 phone calls and 2 different BT engineers to improve my connection. 3 months later I am getting speed and connectivity problems again. Sky is… Read Full Review

“Moving home with Sky broadband...”

Written on: 02/05/2013

Not happy with Sky Broadband. We are moving home and I was told that as soon as the Sky broadband disconnects at our old house, I must call Sky again to reorder broadband for the new house. Sky broadband was cut off a week before our move. I arranged for the new phone line to be activated the next day at the new house which it did. So I contacted Sky to order the new broadband but then they advised me that I can only contact them again in a weeks time to order and it will take another 2… Read Full Review

“Terrible internet and phone service!”

Written on: 28/04/2013

We took out Sky broadband with free weekend calls in September last year. For the first month or so we did not encounter problems, however ever since then we have had internet cutting out frequently at random times, and the phone line not working for days on end. The phone line produces no dial tone, and since we receive no mobile signal in the house, this is very problematic, and we are missing out on free calls. When we inform Sky, they tell us it will be fixed within 72hrs, but this doesn't… Read Full Review

often these problems are caused by unwilling or disrespectful costomers, if their is a fault on the line affecting broadband and talk, ultimately it is openreach who will fix it and they can be slow to do this if dig work is needed.

ur broadband comes down the same line no matter who ur with, sky were the first to offer truely unlimited bb and also dont traffic manage, if ur broadband was pants, it was probably because u were on the wrong wireless channel or you refused to go through a very simple troubleshooting procedure to find out the problem, meaning you, the customer was most likely total pants

“Absolutely Fantastic Service”

Written on: 26/04/2013

Sky have been faultless. When moving into our new flat, we discussed with many people which provider to pick having had issues with each of the main rivals on the market. We chose Sky through a friends recommendation and within one week they were around! Booking and registering was easy with the help of 'Sky Chat' where the staff message you through the process, we were sent the router within 3 days and also received reminders about the set-up before they arrived and the day before. “Total rubbish”

Written on: 21/04/2013

Where do I start? Having been a Virgin broadband customer for years, we thought we would go to Sky because their TV is brilliant. Anyway we got coaxed into getting a full package because we could get 'Sky Go' for free -- what they failed to tell us, you can only get it on 'IOS' and 'Android' or laptop (all our family have Windows Phones)....!!!! Right, so we get their broadband (unlimited), which is part of the package. Everything was fine for the first 2 months, then it all went downhill. For… Read Full Review

deary me, what silly advisor u must have had, u clearly have an intermittent connection, assuming your internet light goes off or amber when it drops, it is a very simple ts procedure.

try router in master socket with all other equipment from other sockets removed and using no extension cables and monitor - possible faulty extension socket or filter.

if that does not solve, get in ur test socket if u have one and monitor, possible faulty faceplate, sky can replace this.

still not solved, try another filter.

if this doesn't do it then sky will probably replace router and if this doesnt do it then they will send BT Openreach around to look at ur line

its that simple, it really is, intermittent connections are usually equipment problems. oh, the new sky hub is a very good router so they listened
