“avoid monthly charges”

Written on: 04/07/2013 by firebyrd (36 reviews written)

if you only want your two pound credit report and don't want to be dragged into a monthly contract it's simple. Send them the cash and they can't take anymore. why do you think they want your credit or debit card details, so they can keep charging you… Read Full Review

“Dunno what all the fuss is about?”

Written on: 16/06/2013

It clearly states that you'll get a 30 day free trial and after they will actually take £14.99 per month from your account. This is what happens when stupid people don't read the terms and conditions first. The number is easy to get hold of, and also easy to cancel, you just have to remember to do it before they charge you… Read Full Review

the number is NOT easy to get a hold of.

1) You need to log in, search in the help section as it's buried in one of the sections, and
2) you need to call them during the day, and it won't be free from a mobile phone

Solutions? Cancel onlne. You sign up online. Why not, given that you sign up online!

Joannatheplanna's Comment

I wrote to state I wanted to cancel after a few days (well within the 30 day trial period). I also phoned to confirm this. When I called I refused an extension to the free trial period and declined further products/services. Then forgot all about it, thinking I had done all that was required. Months later had a nasty shock to discover that they have been debiting my account with £14.99 per month. Now state the burden of proving I called to cancel is mine and I have to waste my personal and precious time reporting them to the FSO and OFT. I am neither an idiot, imbecile, nor disorganised. The 30 day free trial is only free when they follow instructions to cancel, which they did not.

“distressing!”

Written on: 15/06/2013 by onexposinginadequatecompanies (1 review written)

I have recently applied by post for my credit report from Equifax I wrote a hand written letter giving all my address details full name and date of birth everything they would need as I researched what information is needed and three weeks later AFTER cashing the cheque they wrote to me asking for my address yes the address they had written to me at and for my name again they had my full name on the letter, they asked for my signature which was on the bottom of the hand written letter! Having recently been the victim of fraud I signed up to Noddle and Experian without too much fuss so I could keep am eye on transactions. I tried to sign up to Equifax and had similar problems as detailed above. They wanted a copy of a utility bill plus driving licence or passport. I am not prepared to send copies of sensitive ID documents to anyone, let alone a company I know nothing about. The documents could end up in anyone's hands.

“Extremely poor”

Written on: 21/05/2013 by OIOIOIOI (1 review written)

Towards the end of my free trial I attempted to call on several occasions to cancel but my call was never answered. I managed to get through only AFTER the trial had ended and I had been charged the membership rate. Very unhelpful opening hours, no option to cancel online - there should be no excuse for that option. Will never be using them again… Read Full Review

“Pointless, confusing and feels more like a scam”

Written on: 09/05/2013

After going through the whole hassle of registering, waiting for the NOT secure method of posting my access code through the post, I eventually get my report. The report is virtually meaningless. I am a web developer, and video game developer, and found the information to be confusing, and when I worked it out realised that it pretty much told me NOTHING. To add insult to injury they continued to bill me even when I had cancelled. Also the process of cancelling was so buried and convoluted… Read Full Review

“Save your money.”

Written on: 28/04/2013

I'm with Experian purely through my bankcard and so receive reports the moment my credit rating changes up or downwards. I took out insurance for my laptop (KNOWHOW) and when they mucked up the first months direct debit (£7.50) my credit rating went down a grade. Despite quickly sorting this out with KNOWHOW- Experian wouldn't rectify my grade. This month I paid off a large loan and you've guessed it- not the slightest upward move. I'm simply paying off what debt I have as soon as possible and… Read Full Review

I applied for the 30 day free trial, I sent an e-mail to the so called customer services e-mail address to tell them i did not wish to continue with membership following the end of the trial...since then 6 months ago i have been charged £14.99 per month, I cannot get them to cancel, I am living on a very small amount at the moment, following redundancy, I have £20 to live on per week after bills and rent have come out. “experian report is next to useless”

Written on: 20/04/2013

experian fail to mention to prospective customers that some of the biggest names in british business don't report to them, including BT. There is little point in buying your report from them as the report from equifax contains much more detail and actually does what it says on the tin. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON AN EXPERIAN REPORT BECAUSE IT DOES NOT GIVE THE FULL PICTURE - COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY… Read Full Review

“Experian/Credit Expert ”

Written on: 18/04/2013 by Perturbed (1 review written)

I requested a £2 statutory credit report and was told that this would be a one off charge, I had not signed up for the 30-day free trial, only gave card details to see the STATUTORY CREDIT REPORT, this was in December '12. Now, in April '13, I see that they've made me a member without the slightest bit of advice and have been charging me 14.99gbp per month for the privelidge ever since. I fail to see how a direct debit can be set up so easily without my consent...the banks are just as much to… Read Full Review

“Quick service and useful info”

Written on: 07/04/2013

I signed up with Experian's free credit report and score. You need to fill out your credit card details. The small print is easy to read through and understand. If you don't cancel the card after 30 days then you will have £14.99 membership fee debited from your account. The information they provide on you is clear, concise and detailed. All details may not be 100% up to date but this is understandable. An overdue catalogue payment was mentioned on my account which I had three weeks previously… Read Full Review

The website links for the statutory report do not work. The only link which does is for the chargeable account. Equifax can provide you immediate access - why can't you? This has been a problem since at last April 2010 - which they have failed to address. Callcredit are as bad. They provide details to lenders based on exactly the same information you key into their website make an application for an online report - but, surprise, they are unable to provide details basd on the info you provide! You have to make a manual submission, of exactly the same details they failed to recognise, through the post. Of course, then they claim not to have received it and blame Royal Mail. All deeply unimpressive.

“Always cancel after the free service.”

Written on: 06/04/2013

Im absolutely disgusted to find that for the past 6 months I've been charged £14.99 each month for a service I've not been using or had no idea about. They used my credit details which I gave them to have a FREE 30 day trial, because Tmobile had put a default on my account (which is another story - don't use Tmobile). Always read the small print, these guys take advantage of you in your hour of need. Everyone wants your money, I think it's rubbish!… Read Full Review

They have over 12 different "aliases" for me, which is anything from my middle initial mrs and miss, my past 3 address one over 17 years ago and not linked to any current credit, now or within 6 years. I waited almost 2 weeks for my pin code and there is no telephone helpline for people paying the £2 fee only if you commit to the monthly subscription. “Very difficult to cancel, beware”

Written on: 13/03/2013 by LondonPimlico (1 review written)

You will have to cancel this service several times before Experian actually stop taking money from you. A company with very poor ethics - the bosses are fully aware of, and even encourage, the customer services team's dishonest approach to cancellations.
