“Experian credit rating”

Written on: 18/05/2014 by ReganRobertson (1 review written)

Good service marred by the cancellation procedure. They are anxious to sign you up but when it comes to leaving its a massive problem. The phone lines don't work. You have to cancel through the bank. And they have a terrible reputation in banking for cancellation procedures. Stay we'll clear unless desperate… Read Full Review

“So Slow”

Written on: 02/05/2014 by peterlifeguard (1 review written)

We had such a problem getting us registered in our new home with Experian. The council sent Experian the details of the electoral register on 1st April, I sent Experian letters from the council, the council sent Experian details and we sent our polling cards! This has been going on since the 8th April and all I get is "Oh I know" and emails saying we can take up to 28 days to respond! They have to be the worst credit rating company in the UK. Please someone tell me why businesses use them!… Read Full Review

James_Jones_Experian's Response to peterlifeguard's Review

Written on: 02/05/2014

Hi there. Sorry it took a while to update the electoral roll information on your credit report. This would have been because, at that time, we and the other credit reference agencies were updating our entire electoral roll databases following the nationwide local council annual canvass, when they update and send us new registers covering every voter. This does I'm afraid take a while to process. At other times of the year we are able to process updates to the electoral roll very quickly. I hope you have a more pleasant and speedy experience the next time you get in touch. The 28 day period is simply a minimum legal requirement we are obliged to tell you about but we respond to most queries much quicker than that.

I have been speaking to Experian at least 3 times since a week since the 10th April to get the records updated, not one adviser mentioned this at all! Either they didn't know or couldn't be bothered! It is now 7th May and guess what, NOTHING HAS CHANGED, how bad are Experian!!!!

I have just spoken again to Experian 1.15pm (45 minutes) and was told "Oh it should of been done" by several advisers and a promise of a call back in 48hrs by a manager.Still nothing has been done! The last manager has taken over a week to call back and still not managed it so I think they mean 48 Days!!!!!

* PLEASE SUPPORT THIS CAUSE BY READING Experian Credit Expert offer a free 30-day trial of there services, supposedly to help you improve your credit score and evaluate your credit report / and prevent fraud. What Experian Credit Expert won't tell you is that, when you want to cancel the free-membership, it is IMPOSSIBLE !!! Please see the links below to Trust Pilot reviews / stories of some very angry free-trial users. They all seem to have found it impossible and stressful to cancel… Read Full Review

“Experian are TERRIBLE.”

Written on: 19/04/2014

I've had nothing but trouble with Experian. I have a few details on my credit report that require updating, and you wouldn't believe the bloody hassle involved! They're horrendous to deal with. They don't communicate with one another, you'll have a different person email you each time, asking for the same thing every time. Despite providing the silly number they need over and over and over to different people, I get the same message back. "Can't find you. Provide your number." And what… Read Full Review

“Rip-Off”

Written on: 02/04/2014 by CarolineBT (1 review written)

Do not, I repeat DO NOT be taken by this company. Once they have your details you will find it almost impossible to stop them deducting money from your account. If you look hard enough through their website you will evdentuially find a free phone number to cancel on (they won't let you do it online) and that number doesn't actually work. Oh and the company is currently the involved in a major criminal investigation in the USA over identity fraud. AVOID THEM… Read Full Review

“Terrible process trying to cancel free trial...be aware”

Written on: 20/03/2014 by Spearsej354 (1 review written)

They make it almost impossible to cancel free trial. I rang call centre a week before to cancel...but no confirmation. then sent email requesting cancellation before end of trial period. Then delays in them responding until AFTER free trial finished and now required extra questions answered why I was cancelling. Now state the process was not completed before end of free trial so I was charged the first month. I will have to reverse this at the bank. Very intentional policy to avoid letting… Read Full Review

“Very polite staff - very 100% rubbish service”

Written on: 27/02/2014 by tiggybear1 (5 reviews written)

Experian CreditExpert. (Expert???) I signed to this service last week. I could not obtain instant access so as an extra security measure the service sent me a PIN via Royal Mail to my address. This worked and I could access my report which showed two accounts and an address history of 8yrs (correct). I downloaded my report several times without problem. When I rang a few days later the rep thought it odd that my account didn't show my bank account so to 'help' me linked it together and… Read Full Review

“Great for rebuilding my credit rating!!!!”

Written on: 11/02/2014

People are under the impression that Experian (CreditExpert) are responsible for their credit account information being incorrect but they are wrong! The company are only a financial library and only store the Information on a persons report, which is recorded by the Creditor (company you have finance with) themselves! If the credit score has decreased it is not the fault of Experian, but the finance companies. And companies should I form customers that when they search a credit report, it… Read Full Review

“After signing up online and giving your payment...”

Written on: 09/02/2014

After signing up online and giving your payment details THEY ALWAYS say there is a problem so the account can not be acctivated. You have to phone a 0844 number which they proffit from, then you spend about 30 mins giving endless details. They then tell you you will have to send in by post 2 documents then they MIGHT be able to acctivate the account. Then they suggest for a ONE OFF fee of £3.50 they will send out a report. No one ever gets to set up a free trial on line so you always have to… Read Full Review

I'm sorry to hear about your unsatisfactory experience. The vast majority of customers get instant access to their credit report online, but we do carry our thorough checks and some applications are subjected to additional security measures. The 0844 number is national rate, so around 4-5p per minute. You can also email for free of use our web forms. If you'd like to get back in touch with us we'd be happy to arrange for you to have another free trial. Thanks, James, Experian.

“Dreadful system”

Written on: 27/01/2014

Please, whatever you do, don't use Experian to check your credit report. Use one of the other credit reference agencies (Equifax or CallCredit). The list of requirements to access your data is ludicrous and despite providing reams of data which any fraudster would struggle to know, they still wouldn't allow access to my account. They deliberately make it difficult to make it seem like they are providing a "service" but they are actually just out to rip you off and keep your money. Sadly credit… Read Full Review

“Owe me money”

Have been waiting over 3 weeks for a refund to my account, I have phoned the company 3 times since I was first expecting payment, staff keep taking my details and say they have re-submitted the refund it will be with you in 3-5days. Now am I wrong in this but if I miss payments I get charged and you kindly put a black mark on my credit file? My reason for leaving your joke of a company was through repeated requests for a pin to view my report went unheard. And I am sure I has with the company… Read Full Review

“Clear, easy process”

Written on: 23/01/2014

No difficulty at all in cancelling by phoning the number. I'm still disturbed by the influence of the credit rating system but the Experian site was useful for me to monitor my report when i decided to clear all my cc accounts etc. I can't see why anyone would need to use the site for more than 3 months and the debit is relatively expensive for what it tells you. When I called to cancel the staff were (understandably) keen to offer other packages, v friendly, but did not over-sell at all and… Read Full Review

“appalling scaremongering”

Written on: 17/01/2014 by mz.zizi3 (2 reviews written)

When i first signed up to experian it took forever for a start telling me I hadn't completed this that and the other. After the initial 30 days money was taken. But not once a month as told but twice or even 3 times. The cancellation contact number is not the easiest to find and if you do get through its automated and then no one wants to help. I had to close my bank account in the end so they had to close my account. Went to renew my membership recently and they're now charging a whopping… Read Full Review

Really sorry to hear about your experience. Most people tell us they find the service really easy to use and very useful. Details of how to cancel are readily available on the website, but in view of your comments we will see if we can make them even more prominent. I can assure you that we don't share your details with anyone else without your permission. Don't forget you can also check your credit report via our website for just £2 too.

“TOOK £14.99 X2 IN DECEMBER AND A 3RD ATTEMPT TODAY...”

Written on: 19/12/2013

Livid doesn't even cover it, they have deducted £14.99 out of my account twice this month.. and notified me today that they were unsuccessful in taking another £14.99. THREE TIMES IN ONE MONTH.... You cannot speak to anyone on the telephone about the situation as they have one of those very annoying automated telephone services which are always very unhelpful. I then emailed the customer services with my complaint and they have one of those also very unhelpful automated replies saying it can… Read Full Review

“DON'T TRUST EXPERIAN CREDIT”

Written on: 13/12/2013

I GOT A FREE REPORT FROM EXPERIAN CREDIT - A LOT OF THE INFORMATION THEY HELD WAS INCORRECT AND SAID I STILL OWED A COMPANY MONEY. THIS WAS NOT TRUE, I PHONED TO TELL THEM-THEY WERE DISINTERESTED AND DID NOT OFFER ANY HELP TO SORT IT OUT. SHORTLY AFTER GETTING MY REPORT, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CAPITAL ONE FOR PEOPLE, IT SAID, WHO HAD PREVIOUS DEBT PROBLEMS. I APPLIED, AND WAS REFUSED. ON CALLING CAPITAL ONE TO FIND OUT WHY, I HAPPENDED TO MENTION THAT I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT… Read Full Review

Sorry to hear you're unhappy with the service you received from us. If there is anything on your credit report that still needs attention please let us know. You might like to use our quick and easy online query form on the site.

On your other query, I can assure you that we do not share your details with third parties without your consent. Based on what you say I believe you will have used our CreditMatcher service where you have to explicitly agree for us to share you details with relevant lenders regarding products you've expressed an interest in.

I hope that helps explain what happened. Do let us know if we can help further.

“Utter rubbish”

Written on: 23/11/2013

Managed to login once, then the site would come up with errors. Contacted support who were incompetent, useless, patronising, and plain wrong, the worst offshore idiots I've ever dealt with which tells you a lot. There's an air of the desperate hard sell from everything experian do - trying to bundle in 'insurance' etc its highly dubious from a company in the position of dealing with those who need help with their finances rather than being scammed out of more for unnecessary services. Really sorry to read about your bad experience with us. It's a little strange because our contact centre is based firmly in the UK. If you'd like to send your details to us via email we'd be keen to review your previous contacts and give you the opportunity to try our service on a further 30-day trial.
