Just awful, been pursuing complaint now for over 12m, they deflect, fail to respond, basically once the money has left your hands, they'll do anything other than deal with you, even with consumer rights, they are not recognised by this company. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

“Warrington Car People Ltd AVOID”

★☆☆☆☆

written by BevCH123 on 13/12/2019

1st impression WOW big reception area and lots of staff. But it went downhill from there. Totally unprofessional in their conduct and practices. Had to call 4 times to get my refund after being told twice no record of my payments. If you are trading in a car - beware!! the price they quote isn't what you will get ! We were offered £750 then on the day of collection it went to £150, as they said alloys were scuffed, so we walked away. Selling cars 3 years old with 4 weeks MOT and won't MOT it, most garages would sell with 12 months, but no you have to pay for the MOT. When you pay a deposit you get NO paperwork only your visa card slip, no details of the reg no. They want to sell you a package to V5 and tax for you - which most garages just do for you without a fee. When you ask to speak to a Manager no one will come to talk to you. Drove 4 hours twice to get this car and they thought I would just say yes having driven all that way, well guess what I said forget it, refund my deposit, and we walked away, then had great pains trying to get the money back due to their awful practices and admin. No option to speak to Accounts dept on their phone system. Beware when they write down your card number they also write down the 3 digits on back of card which they don't need! and then the bit of paper went missing. You can see why I am disatisfied with these unprofessional people at Warrington The Car People Ltd. Fixed prices, won't do anything about a bonnet scratch most garages would say yes we will touch that up, their answer: that can't be repaired..... I have never heard such a load of rubbish. When you ask a question to you the answer "yes I should think so" because actually they don't know the right answer. Awful awful experience. Have since bought a car from autoworld in Willenhall and what a pleasant easy purchase that was and got MORE than £750 trade in, just to prove my point, they are OFFERING £150 AND with their ADMIN add-ons.

Just been to see a Citroen Ds4 with a view to buying, priced at £7,814 it turns out the parcel shelf and the torch from the boot that doubles up as the curtesy light was missing, they said if a car comes in with the bits missing it’s not replaced and sold with the bits missing. “Our cars are all prepared to the highest possible standard before you drive away in them” THEY SAY. Beware these Car People are Taking the pxxs. Parcel Shelf £129.00 Boot Torch £29.00

“Worst experience ever! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Geofflynch on 18/04/2019

I had the misfortune of buying a car from car people Warrington and trading in my old car, Car people took so long to settle the finance which was owing on my old car that the finance company said they missed the date for the settlement and the figure had expired, the balance still owing is £760 which car people refuse to pay, they even tried to blame me saying I had given them the wrong settlement figure, which is strange as there salesman and finance department obtained it themselves, They now ignore my calls emails and are not available to talk. So think very carefully before trading in a car if they tell you they will settle the finance because they have left me in debt! Special mention to car people for threatening me over my review for mentioning names and to the poor person who bought my trade in VOLVO S60 AV12WHM Which they illegally sold with outstanding finance on it! , I have had to complain to the motor ombudsman to see if they can make them pay, The one star I had to leave is more than they deserve

“I bought a car from The Car People, Wakefield. Drove...”

written by Kerr95 on 29/03/2019

I bought a car from The Car People, Wakefield. Drove it approx. 2 miles and warning lights came on. I've now found out that the car's clutch needs replaced and there are possible/probable gearbox and engines issues. I contacted The Car People to be told it has nothing to do with them. Currently seeking legal advice as court action seems to be the only way to resolve this farcical situation. They would have received no stars, but that's not possible. Don't touch. You have been warned!

“Utter Garbage. Do Not Purchase Vehicle from this Co”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MaeveRiley on 10/05/2018

Purchased vehicle and paid full purchase price in full. After being dropped off at the garage to collect the vehicle, (and later having to fork out for a taxi home) found our vehicle to be held hostage by staff demanding more money illegally which we had to claim back (successfully from DVLA at a later date — which staff also tried, and failed miserably, to claim). Worse than diabolical!

“Dodgy Repair!! Poor Service!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ARP100 on 01/05/2018

I purchased a car a month ago, within days it was apparent there was a major leak at the rear of the car, which meant a pond formed in the boot. I notified Car People straight away who said to bring it back but because I needed a loan car in the interim I would have to wait two weeks when one became available. Three weeks passed with no call so I had no alternative but to get the manufacturer to view on my drive as part of there roadside assistance package for an initial investigation. They noted numerous problems and subsequently booked it into the main dealer. Following this we were told repair works must have been carried out previously and not to the standard required which resulted in the leaks. We were then charged for the investigation works and that it wouldn't come under warranty works due to the poor repair. After numerous phone calls and correspondence car people admitted fault and said we could return the car for a refund. No compensation was offered or related costs covered e.g. the inspection works, fuel, time, temporary insurance & admin fees etc. I also had to wait 3 days after returning the car to get my money back (Not right based on the fact you cant take the car away initially until the money has been taken out??), and also not good if your trying to purchase a replacement car on the same day you hand back!!!! This car was £12.5k, just over a year old, low mileage and with the best part of two years manufacturers warranty still applicable. Poor customer services from start to finish...Avoid!!

I wasn't going to write a review however approx 6 month after purchase I contacted the car people with regards servicing my car which the honestly told me it wasn't required saving me money most garages would have ripped you off for ... Big thanks for helping me get the car I wanted. I particularly liked the regular updates and was impressed how quick the process was. All staff were friendly and thorough and even understood when I could not take a call due to fighting kids so I received text message updates. I never once felt pushed into making any decision. Would definitely recommend up others.

“My Car People Experience! ”

★★★★★

written by anoraktyke on 05/12/2017

Strange, Ive seen the Car People Showroom in Wakefield many times when I've been to the nearby 'Whaler' chippy, but if you'd told me I was going to buy my next car from there I'd've laughed at you. I'll tell you this much, everything you think it might be from the outside it definitely isn't. It is easily the most relaxed, hassle free experience of buying a car I've ever had, it really is; and at 58, I've bought one or two. There's no hype here. Oh, the surroundings are 21st century, state of the art and functional, but impressive too; and in the right way. The salespeople are there, close by sure and they speak to you;but you're free to browse in peace which most people want. Don't be afraid though, they are amazingly helpful and intuitive. The 'zones' are a simple but brilliant idea. If you know what you want, they're all together in their 'zone' so you can compare them; and there's lots of choice. I'd viewed the website first, made a list and booked in to view the cars; but typical me, I left the list on the chair arm at home. I needn't have worried. When I tentatively approached a salesperson for help and mentioned the models I was interested in, it was immediately clear he wanted to sell me a car I wanted to buy, not one he needed to sell. I appreciated his help and guidance which was as unbiased, relaxed and informative as it was friendly. The two cars he showed me were both exceptional and I didnt need to look at any more. Being able to test drive both made the choice between for me at least, a 'no brainer', which my salesperson said was written all over my face! I was completely thrilled by the car and appreciated the help Id had. I can safely say that closing the deal was completely hassle free and again geared to ensuring it was right for me and affordable. Im just so glad all that bartering, dancing and spiel has gone out of deal making and instead the important stuff was the priority. The additional warranty, minor damage, protection and tyre cover were excellent competitive products, offered and explained in full, obvious peace of mind in the costly world of repairs; but again with no obligation or pressure to take them. All sorted, handshake and deal done. The phone call two days later to confirm the finance had been approved another big plus. The handover appointment was as relaxed, friendly and smooth event as the purchase, and the car was immaculately presented. All done and dusted smoothly and with no fuss in 3 days. 'The' best way to buy a car from real'Car People'. One happy customer here.

Sales staff did not rush us or badger us for a sale. They listened and kept their distance when looking at cars. We turned up an hour early for hand over meeting and you found someone to see us. The whole experience was hassle free, quick and easy. Nothing like the reputation used car sellers.

“Superb Car Sale Experience!”

★★★★★

written by Paul__H on 04/12/2017

My employer recommended The Car People as a reputable, straight to the point Car sales firm where you have a large range of cars to choose from. I knew what I wanted when I arrived, they allowed me to test drive there and then, ultimately loved the drive experience and purchased the car the next day. From start to finish, everything was highlighted to me with costs, the valuation of my trade in, the extras that I may of wanted that were fully optional. All in all, a fantastic sales environment where I didn't feel pressured and I left with exactly what I wanted with a great price!

Service from start to finish was great. The guys were friendly and informative and never pushy with the sale. The ‘sales’ guy spent time getting to know us and understood exactly what we needed. It was late on a Saturday but I never felt like they were in a rush to get home just spot on!

We signed the agreement on Saturday 12th July 2014 and picked the car up on Tuesday 15th July 2014.

Depends if the car has had all its checks, what 'handover slots' are available, and if you've requested any additional extras that need carrying out before collection (such as touch-ups, resin polish etc). For me it was a week between signing and pick-up, but it could've been sooner if i'd gone for an earlier slot and not requested the resin polish.

I signed the contract for my car on Thursday 2nd July and picked it up on Friday 3rd July. It does depend on what slots they have available for pick up times. When we went to the Car People the Thursday afternoon they had 2 slots left on the Friday. Otherwise I would have been picking up the car the following week.

I picked the car on the 12th Jan and collected it on the 15th.

As far as I'm aware you should get a courtesy car yes
Report this content Motorwaycityman Written on: 09/07/2014
This will depend on the agreement you signed when you purchased the car from The Car People. It would be worth enquiring through their Customer Services section, as they have recently enhanced their post sales support offers to customers this year. The sales site you purchased your car from will be able to help you further.
Report this content Ward123 Written on: 09/07/2014
I believe that would depend upon a number of factors. If the car is being repaired at a 3rd party garage it would depend onif that garage supplies one, if the car is being repaired at the Car people, they will try to accommodate you as best they can, however there is not always a courtesy car available so they may have to delay the repair to a suitable time when there is a courtesy vehicle available should you need one. If your car is towed from side of roadby the RAC as part of the extended warrantys RAC breakdown cover, the RAC will provide a hire car for a limited period I believe.

You would be very lucky to get anything from them you really would sorry to be so blunt but. They fob you off with it's not in the warrenty. You have maid a utter mistake buying from the car people. This was the worst choice I have ever maid every time they say they had done something I had to take it back a week later for it re doing. In the end I took it to another garage and they said it had Neva been touched. I later billed them for this work. I asked to see the reports on all work done on my car whilst under warrenty but they had gone missing. Filled wrong the last said. In the end I took them to court unde the sale of goods act and unfit for purpuse clause. I won and got all the money back I had paid. All I can say is I feel for you and the amount of stress this little thing will cause you good luck you will need it :-)
