A great centre with gorgeous ponies, I would definately recommend it to anyone looking for further riding experience or just wanting to start out. There's never a dull moment and the horses are impeccably behaved and well schooled.Staff are easy to get on with and i fell like I've been riding there much longer than the year I've have been doing so.Without a doubt my favourite place to ride!… Read Full Review

I am a qualified BHSAI and have been going to Matchmoor riding centre for many years. The sixy or so horses there are kept like kings and queens. They couldnt be treated any better. They are all checked each year by the BHS inspector and the standard of horse care and teaching at this establishment could not be any better anywhere else in the country. These horses are all happy at their work and are all loved by everyone who goes there. The staff are nearly all qualified to some level with the head instructor having her Stage four and BHSII. My daughter has worked and trained here for some years and now keeps her own horse at the yard. I ride there 3 times a week and have been to other yards in the area which didn't match up to Matchmoor!

They put you on horses that you like if you have been there before. They also put you on the size of horse you want. Also if you are a learner they put you on a experienced horse that won't just run off. The staff are fully qualified. They are lovely. Matchmoor Riding Centre, Bolton is a great riding school where you can confident in the ability of the staff and satisfied that the horses are all well looked after and safe to ride… Read Full Review

They have to put you on half hour hacks to make sure you can walk, trot, steer and have general control over the horse before you are put into group lessons so you dont cause yourself or anyone else in your lesson any harm.
You should ask permission from the staff to do anything that involves you going into a stable with the horse as they could acidentaly squash or kick you if they are spooked. They are looking out for your safety.
You should never scratch a horse with a whip as you could scare it which would be the cause of him trying to bite you. The staff were again looking out for your safety.

Matchmoor Riding Centre has horses from 10h to 17h and can offer a variety of courses for children and adults. At Matchmoor you can send your children on 3 day courses where they learn to look after their own horse, ride for two hours (a hack and a lesson) and have a lecture and practical where they learn about horses. It's a good value for money !… Read Full Review

There are plenty of horses at Matchmoor, all sizes. The instructors are friendly as are the staff and horses. You can have parties for children. There aren't a lot of people on the lesson so you can learn lots more. You can go on hacks from 30 mins - 4 hrs 30 mins. There's no indoor arena, so you get wet when it rains. As its up Rivington Pike lightning tends to hit the fields near the stables… Read Full Review
