Written on: 03/05/2009 by rawilliams3 (1 review written)

i have been riding with Matchmoor Riding Centre for over 13 yrs it is a really good place to start learning to ride and to continue to progress through your riding career.
looking at a few other reviews i can see someone has commented about staff not lettin general public do things with the horses. this is due to the staff worrying about the customers. the yard offers training courses which enable customers to help on the yard and get a better experiance. also one person commented on how she… Read Full Review

Written on: 23/09/2008

As the owner of my own dressage yard i only stumbled upon this yar when a novice friend asked me to come and watch their lesson. I was a bit taken a back at the total lack of knowlege and care for the horses and the tack, i noticed a few rather ill fitting saddles and ponies that looked like they needed a good grooming. My friends ride was a rather strong fell who was too much for a novice who had never ridden before. The instructor didnt seem too bothered when my friend couldnt even stop her… Read Full Review

I'd have to agree, the yard has gone rather down hill. They shouldn't have 2-4 horses sharing stables and for a horse on its own some of the stables are way too small. The horses spend most of there time stood up in the stables and there's not any bedding either. I have to agree with you though, if your struggling for money or time then the yard is probrably just ok, though if it was me i'd personally have a lesson else where if it cost double for an hour every other week as i feel that the overall atmosphere and layout of the centre is rather poor.

The price for a half hour lesson is not cheap so you expect to get the full 30 minutes!
Also, it seems that the owner thinks that as she has been there so long and has built a reputation she no longer needs to be pleasant with her customers. It is a lovely riding school but there is a lack of respect!… Read Full Review

A great centre with gorgeous ponies, I would definately recommend it to anyone looking for further riding experience or just wanting to start out. There's never a dull moment and the horses are impeccably behaved and well schooled.Staff are easy to get on with and i fell like I've been riding there much longer than the year I've have been doing so.Without a doubt my favourite place to ride!… Read Full Review
