“Works Great for a While”

Written on: 21/08/2012

Worked great for a year and then the handle became as hot as the iron or hotter. Read warranty and I am out of luck! Not good for an iron I paid $200 for at a quilt show! Would definately not recommend… Read Full Review

I'm so sorry you were disappointed. I bought mine about 7 years ago. You do have to clean it with vinegar once in a while. I had it repaired once, but it's the GREATEST IRON I'VE EVER USED. I don't want to go back to another. You can go from one fabric to another, don't have to dampen cotton shirts, etc. Works on my husband's suits. Maybe you got one that wasn't good, but I'd highly recommend and am looking to get another so I won't ever have to go back to any other iron.

Saying that this product is poorly constructed is a complete understatement. The flimsy plastic that houses its interior fails to adequately support the heft of the iron. The handle grip made cracking noises during my initial use, and continues to do so. The plastic handle top is unsafe--it gets too hot to hold. Further, the top piece of plastic on the handle came off to expose electrical wires, as did the entire casing around the cord, and to the bottom of the iron. You will find sturdier plastic on a child's toy. This was a very expensive iron. For $200, the iron is one hot rip off! Shame on you EuroSteam.

“Absolutely best iron ever!”

Written on: 14/08/2012

I recently read these reviews after having used my EuroSteam Evolution for two years. Thank goodness I didn't see them before my purchase. I iron approximately 20 plus long sleeve 100% cotton shirts in addition to pressing/steaming several pair of men's and women's slacks each week. This experience has changed from hours of drudgery to a semi-fun, very satisfying experience. Ironing silks and polyester is a snap; no more melt marks due to incorrect temperature settings. Two negative… Read Full Review

Interesting observation. I bought mine at a Home and Flower Show more than 6 years ago. Unfortunately, I dropped it one too many times and this morning it lost its sole plate. I ran across your review. I am thinking maybe it was a manufacturing defect. I have had nothing but pleasure from the iron. The one thing that is essential is to empty it after every single use so the sediment does not build up. In addition it does require periodic "deep" cleaning per the instruction manual. I am so sorry you did not experience what I have. I am going to borrow a regular iron and hope not to burn my clothes until my replacement arrives.

“PIECE OF SH**T”

Written on: 20/06/2012 by white5075 (1 review written)

I liked the iron for about the first 2 weeks. This is the most expensive piece of sh**t I've ever boought!! I don't iron that much and it's already broken within 1 year. 1)If you don't mind water running all over your clothes and on the floor you are fine. 2) If you don't mind scalding the palm of your hand while you iron you are fine. 3) If you don't mind "no steam" at all while it s draining all on the floor you are fine. Holding the iron is like taking a hot pan out the oven without an… Read Full Review

“Please with Iron”

Written on: 12/06/2012

After purchasing the iron I found negative reviews. I thought, well maybe this will not work out. HOWEVER, I really like this iron. I watched the demonstrator carefully and when the iron arrived I read all the directions and made sure to follow them exactly. The iron works beautifully -- just as demonstrated. I cannot help but think that the people who have had issues with the iron are not following the directions exactly. Of course, in all products, problems will occur from time to… Read Full Review

“waste of money and time ”

Written on: 06/06/2012 by Sunday3 (1 review written)

I purchased my euro steam iron 2.5 years ago. I am so disappointed with it !! it doesn't work as well as the demo by the salesperson. The other thing I spent a fortune - over $200 bucks, what a waste. when the steam runs out, you can forget about finishing your ironing, you need to wait for the whole thing to cool down. Another thing the steam doesn't work as well as it did initially, steam doesn't work on low very well, I have to crank it up which only causes the iron to burst out steam and… Read Full Review

“A Miniature Old Faithful”

Written on: 01/06/2012 by grannykwilts (1 review written)

I mean it blows it's gasket at regular intervals unless I keep the steam valve open. I have been sent three new safety caps by the company but each is the same. After taking it to Ace Hardware I was assured that the O ring was seating properly and they suspected the problem was a flawed spring in the cap that was suppose to only "explode steam" to keep the iron from exploding. Now that was informative, helpful and probably very true. I wish I had read these reviews BEFORE I paid $216.00 for… Read Full Review

Is there any chance that you are leaving your iron on but not used for more than 10 minutes at a time? There is a note to quilters on the bottom half of page 9 that says to press the steam button every 10 minutes that it is not in use but plugged in or the safety feature in the screw cap will release the steam through the screw cap. Personally I am glad that the safety feature is there.

It sounds like the safety inside of your cap is blowing. Is there any chance that you are leaving the unit on for more than 10 minutes without releasing the steam? It sounds like you are a quilter and I noticed in my manual that there is a note to quilters near the bottom of page 9 that says to press the steam button every 10 minutes or so or it may release the steam through the screw plug as a safety feature. I have really enjoyed using mine and have never had an issue with the screw cap.

“Don't buy Euro Steam Evolution Iron”

Written on: 19/04/2012

I purchased a Euro Steam iron from Redfern at a Home and Garden Show. I agree with the other reviewers that say that it works best by a demonstator. I have experience with ironing and various brands of irons and I have to say this is the worst I have ever used. It only irons 2-3 garments before it runs out of steam. Watched the demonstration and the girl used it vertically to steam a suit and it worked beautifully but when I tried it at home nothing happened. I tried ironing over plastic… Read Full Review

“It certainly needs to be treated right ...”

Written on: 17/04/2012 by Guitarmom (1 review written)

I'm actually pretty happy with the Eurosteam Evolution Iron. I found this review site the day *after* I'd bought a Eurosteam, and I thought, "Uh oh. Have I made and expensive mistake?" But I've owned and used the Eurosteam for over a month now, and I have none of the problems I've read about in other reviews. Mine doesn't leak steam, it doesn't spit on my fabric, and the handle only warms up when I leave the iron unused and on for an extended period. It cools quickly once I release some… Read Full Review

“Modern Day Ironing Equivalent of Snake Oil”

Written on: 29/03/2012

My mother purchased this iron for me as a gift. I did not have the heart to tell her she was hoodwinked and robbed at the home show where she purchased this joke for two-hundred dollars. Everything about this iron is third-rate from its manufacturing to its performance. Redfin's videos are also disingenuous as they say it is made in Italy. It is not, it is supposedly "Designed in Italy", but it is manufactured in China. There are now some excellently produced Chinese products, this is not one… Read Full Review

Wow, after having this iron for more than a year. I believe your words.
It has not exploded on me like other reviews. However, the steam is going through the iron and has burned my hand. I will not,et my 9 yr old daughter use the iron. Fear for her safety.
I have called the company and got no resolved. After reading these reviews. I think in need to call an attorney and see what can be done that might wake them up.

I bought tHe Redfern Eurosteam iron 2 years ago at a home show after watching the demonstration. I don' t dread ironing anymore. It works on even delicate materials. No more ironing the entire pair of pants & then holding them up and still seeing wrinkles, and you don't have to keep going over the area, just a push with your finger on the steam button as you go. it's great if you can see it in action like I did. I use distilled water as they suggested and never add more water than the… Read Full Review

“DO NOT BUY A EUROSTEAM IRON!”

Written on: 10/02/2012

I bought the Euro Steam Evolution at the LA County Fair last August and have been very disappointed for several reasons; the handle gets very hot, the iron leaks steam, and there is a very loud hissing sound long after the iron is unplugged. I called the service number repeatedly and spoke to "Alonna", who was full of excuses but offered no help other than a new O-Ring (that took 7 weeks to arrive and only made the problems worse instead of better). Bottom line: the concept of a steam iron is… Read Full Review

“EuroSteam Evolution”

Written on: 06/02/2012

I am in agreement with the other reviews - only works at its best at the shows. I've encountered the leakage problems as well and apparently it has now "blown its gasket". I love the little travel iron that came with it but am not very happy with the full size iron. Did provide good steam initally but I didn't find that it worked well when vertical, i.e. steaming something on a hanger. I live in the country and therefore it is hard to get service - I should have made the effort initially to… Read Full Review

“Worked great until the steam valve "blew its gasget!"”

Written on: 17/11/2011 by ClaudiaNichol (1 review written)

I bought the Euro Steam Evolution at the Ventura County Fair in August and have been using it ever since for quilting projects. I especially liked it because of the amount of steam I could focus directly on a seam and get a great crease - my quilts have never looked better. BUT, the handle gets very hot - not because of the steam or any leak from the \"not tight enough\" water hole plug, it just gets very hot. And, if you want to spray starch anything, the iron sole plate by itself does not… Read Full Review

For some reason, only half my review posted. This is the full one:

I was interested in this iron when an exhibitor was demonstrating it at the PNE in Vancouver, B.C. Came across the same iron at the Vancouver Home & Design show and purchased it. Apparently this iron only works at shows. A recurring theme about the problems of the iron is the water leakage. I think \"pour\" is a more appropriate term as it completely soaks your clothes through to the ironing board. Just using it now, expecting the iron to be hot enough, I pressed the steam button and water shot out of the iron completely soaking my wall, couch and floor. Going online to file a complaint, I come across their troubleshoot page. I guess the iron needs to be \"primed\" which requires the use of 1 of 2 methods. Either wait for the boiler for 15 minutes or repeat some step 5-7 times. For crying out loud, if I have to wait 15 minutes, I could have ironed 5 shirts already with my $25.00 Black and Decker iron!!! Which I will be using again! The only upside is that I didn't spend the $299.00 that some reviewers have. I paid the $150.00 show price. It's not worth the teflon pad that it sits on. Completely useless. If you're interested, I would suggest reading their troubleshoot page first: http://redfernent.com/euroiron-faq-troubleshooting.html

I was fooled into buying the Redfern Eurosteam iron at a trade show in Denver, Colorado Feb. 2, 2011. They show you how to really iron...like I didn't know how. With this iron they claim you can iron 8 pillow cases at one time and they will be wrikle free. Wow! my dream iron. I can justify the $$$$$. So, stupid, such a waste of time and money on this Redfern Eurosteam iron.... It won't iron 8 cases at once, it won't even iron one case wrinkle free.
