If you use one of the big names do consider First Call - having been covered with the AA I found First Call GB Ltd cover to be loads better, plus they use proper tow trucks so if you need to be towed they can do it straight away. Used First Call GB Ltd once in my first year and was very pleased with their efficient response.
The breakdown man said he did contract work for many of the big name breakdown services - so with first call, you are getting the same guy at a discount rate.
