    Item: Hitachi VTFX440E
To say this Hitachi VTFX440E video is rubbish is to flatter it. It seems to have no redeeming features. The VCR display shows the time if you switch on the TV to set it, but I recommend you buy a clock. Why

    Item: Panasonic NV HV61EBS
Overall, the Panasonic NV HV61EBS is an excellent Video Recorder. I couldn't get to grips with the automatic tuning though, so I switched to manual tuning, at which point it seemed to tune automatically!

    Item: Sony SLV-SE740
My first Sony SLV-SE740 video recorder went straight back, as it was almost Dead-on-Arrival. It was repaired. For an 'expensive' machine this is a disgrace. The LP picture quality is very contrasty with a

    Item: Sharp VCM H815HM
I hunted these down to the ends of the UK after seeing great reports in Which? and What HiFI. But, we never got a chance to test it. We had the machine on for 30 minutes, and the whirring noise coming from

You can't get any more cheap and basic than this 6 head VCR. Buy some thing other than Hitachi VT-FX440E.

    Item: Philips VR840
I bought two of Philips VR840 from Comet (on offer at £104 each) and they were a revelation set against the two 15 year old State-of-the-Art Sony's they replaced. Record -link works perfectly with both

Do not touch with a barge pole, and if you should be mad enough, do not buy from PRC Direct. I have hardly used mine, it has been for repair 3 times under warranty and it still has the same fault. Shame on
