It has a better ergonomic design and is easier to use than a normal mouse. It is ideal for laptops and does not need a flat surface.
Some versions freeze and require the mouse ball be lifted from the sensor

Had it for 4 years so far and it still performs flawlessly - moves on a dime and stays away from the palm of your hands so your hands sweat less on hot days. Love the red glowing scroll wheel.
