Are there celebrities on Twitter?

One of the great things about this phenomenon is that there are lots of famous people on Twitter.

First it was only the tech and early adopter crowd using it, but now, at just three years old we have Ashton Kutcher with over a million followers. With the abundance of celebrities on Twitter and more trying it out all the time, there are more people checking out Twitter and following what their favourite celebrities are doing. Celebrities have helped push Twitter over the edge and made it mainstream.

You can follow these celebrities; it's much like stalking but without any of the nastiness. Stephen Fry's Twitter is of great interest worldwide. He has many followers and has sort of become the unofficial Twitter champion. It's unusual for celebrities to follow you back when you start following them, but in the earlier days Stephen Fry made a real effort to follow all of the people who followed him. Other celebrities on Twitter include Jonathan Ross (Wossy), Russell Brand (rustyrockets), Lilly Allen, Chris Moyles, Lance Armstrong, John Mayer, Tim Lovejoy, Miley Cyrus... there is no end to the celebs on Twitter, they can't get enough.

Shaq (the massive American basketball player of LA Lakers and Phoenix Suns fame) is another person who uses Twitter in a fantastic way. As a basketball player, he often finds himself in different cities each week. Sometimes he'll use Twitter as a game of tag. He'll tweet his rough location in a city and the first person to find him and 'tag' him (he's a hard guy to miss) will win two tickets to that night's game. This is a great example of the innovative and fun methods some celebrities use to connect to their fans.
