Overview

Released in Summer 2001 the Minolta Dimage 5 has not been short of admirers and it has a reputation as a digital compact which is not necessarily for the beginner.Minolta Dimage 5

It's designed to appeal to serious photographers who want decent resolution, a wide-angle zoom lens and a good range of features on the interface.

Although most reviewers have found image quality to be, on the whole, first-rate, some find the camera a little sluggish during focusing and having disappointing battery life. A few software malfunctions have been reported.

Minolta

Minolta Corporation is a longstanding traditional camera maker, famous for making the first integrated autofocus 35mm SLR camera system.

They entered the digital market with the DiMage line which includes digital cameras, imaging software and film scanners. In 2003, Konica Corporation merged with Minolta to form Konica Minolta.

Review Centre Reviewers say:

"The great variety of options and the quality of the picture is very, very good."

"Over all I love this camera but I wouldnt recommend it for a novice. The features are great for a serious photographer but would prove daunting for a beginner."

"I have only had it a few days and I already agree with the majority of owners in that I am a proud owner. The spec is as described which is why I bought it."
