“Bought a restricted 06 model used, firstly for what it...”

Bought a restricted 06 model used, firstly for what it is it's a very quick bike. With my 14 stone on it would easily do about 80mph restricted, it's also so light that you can throw it into corners and lean it back fairly easily even if your inexperienced; this is also why it seems so quick. Reliability wise it's what you'd expect from a GP rep sports bike, after 500 miles on mine the crank oil seal went, which cost 400 pounds for bottom end rebuild as you cannot remove the swingarm locknut to...

i had the 07 version, apparently it had the cdi mod done [drilled hole through circuit board] but it never ran right, it would struggle at low revs, get stuck at around 6thousand then open up at about 7 to 8 thousand. But it blew three exhaust pipe gaskets it leaked radiator fluid out a hole in the crankcase, the throttle got stuck open so would not start one morning, just kept flooding, the rear light bulb kept blowing, the cylinder over heated three times [yes, I did warm it up properly before every ride]. Oh, and the rear shock absorber broke. And it leaked coolant from the little box inside the frame. The clutch began to slip after less than three years of being new. The indicators decided to flash whenever they felt like it. Perhaps the older versions are much better, but the new shape one, stay away from them. Great fun for about 20 percent of the time.

Excellent bike, great fun, keeps up with larger bikes through corners.Would recomend as it is a great step before jumping onto a superbike. Clutch cable has been an issue as I was stupid enough to buy cheap of ebay.Other than that it has never let me down. So long as you keep on top of the oil situation. Use fully synthetic injector as well as engine oil. Requires a Change of engine oil frequently. I use castrol....

“Originally, I wanted a 4 stroke sports 125. Like...”

Originally, I wanted a 4 stroke sports 125. Like Yamaha's YZF R125 or the new Megelli 125R. After having to put up with that falsetto-pitched 2 stroke noise for two years, I began to realize how much I'd appreciate something with a little grunt. However, both of these are over £2000 - even for a second hand one, and I'm eighteen at college. I don't have that sort of money. So, after biting my tongue over the entire maintenance/reliability relationship issues 2 strokes have, I decided to...

Bought my bike from a dealer brand new! This has to be the safest way to buy this bike! Very quick even though mine wasn't de-restricted, they are ways to fully de-restrict these and the newer bikes. Just look on forums for details and how-to's. Always used fully synthetic oil, and used 98RON fuel, i.e Shell Optimax. You must let these engines warm up before you ride them to stop cold seizures, everybody knows this. Never had a problem starting mine, and in the 4000km's nothing went wrong - ever....

Review Centre Reviews

Aprilia RS 125cc

The majority of our reviewers adore the Aprilia RS 125cc which appeals to younger riders especially with its super classy sport looks and a 125 two stroke engine and light frame which appears perfect for a hectic lifestyle. The vast majority of our reviewers recommend this bike as the best sports 125 available, based on its handling, acceleration, power, ergonomic controls and aerodynamic contours as well as its great looks.

The majority of our reviewers remind prospective owners that it is important to warm this bike up before any aggressive riding as it is a sophisticated engine and also only a two stroke. If buying a second hand bike make sure you check the history. Running costs and insurance premiums will be higher with a sports model compared to standard road bikes.
