Overview

  • With its bulky retro seventies road bike looks the Yamaha xjr1300 has not been short of admirers. An enormous engine and stylish light racing frame make this bike a no nonsense powerhouse with a surprising burst of speed. But with the absence of fairing for wind protection and some race track stylings it might not be for everyones taste.

    Overall opinions - a multitude of commentators say the big air cooled engine offers impressive acceleration and with top speeds of over 135mph overtaking is not a problem. The chassis with box-section aluminium swingarm and trick hlins gas shocks should help you handle all of this power with the minium of fuss. On the whole this is a rugged old fashioned ride with the advantage of modern technology and spec to add extra performance and oomph.

    As of March 2006 this bulky bike has a 100 per cent recommendation rating from riders who have contributed reviews to Review Centre. Its fans love its traditional styling, robust handling. Reviews include positive comments about its shock absorbers and braking systems. It requires sensitive handling at high speed though and one reviewer recommends a windshield. The Yamaha XJR 1300cc is a big powerful monster of a bike suitable for experienced and confident riders.
