This looked great on the website, but I assumed it was metal, and it should be made explicit that it isn't. I was staggered when I realised that I'd paid £15 for this cheap looking bit of plastic. It's meant to be a gift for a friend! What's more, it wasn't even delivered in a rigid cardboard box to protect it, thus it arrived with several permanent dents in it. (read more)

PROS: Looks good (Chrome version). Good range of attachments. Motor sounds reassuringly up to the job. Easiest way to make breadcrumbs. Simple to use. CONS: Plastic bowl deteriorates very quickly when washed in the dishwasher. Lid of plastic bowl has virtually broken apart, making it unusable. We were given one of these as a family present, a fantastic idea which we will likely copy and give to other people. It works just as it says and has nice recipe leaflet that comes with it. We have had a lot of fun making our own ice creams and sorbets. I would say though its not terribly big, as a family of seven we have to make two batches but the machine does stay frozen long enough to accommodate this. I have just been on the phone to Magimix to try to claim damage done to our Magimix 5200XL. The damage occurred while juicing lemons. The juicing attachment split while juicing and jammed onto the shaft causing damage to the shaft. Magimix has a three year warranty on accessories. 10 year warranty on the motor. So no damage occurs to the motor the machine is designed to do damage to the shaft so that no damage occurs in the motor. The shaft is not covered under warranty. We have used the... (read more)
