The Queens Hotel, Crouch End

The Queens Hotel in Crouch End is a beautiful pub with amazing stained glass windows, in fact, its Grade II listed. They have a great range of beers - real ales, usually three or four available and the choices change weekly and they have frequent mini beer festivals. There's a good range of lagers, ciders and continental beers. I usually drink the Erdinger there. Considering the price was almost a third higher than what I usually pay, I would've expected at least a reasonable viewing exeperience. This wasn't to be though. Attempting to watch The Woman In Black in a crowded cinema was always going to be difficult noise-wise, but this was ridiculous. Now while people making noise isn't the cinemas fault, it took 2/3 of the film before staff dealt with it, and succeeded in causing as much disturbance as the noise-makers. Kasabian was cancelled there show last night in Berlin which my girlfriend had travelled to see. She was crying, not for the the lack of seeing them but as she had spent money to go out with a friend to see them and then the cancel 1 hour before the show. I know this is not an everyday thing but I thought the whole thing was a bit annoying and I had to cope with a very upset girl in another country. (read more)

The tour was slightly dissapointing as the first hour+ was spent around the outskirts of Stratford, although the guide was very informative and very enthusiastic. Once we got into the main Olympic park we just stayed at the viewing area having the various parts pointed out and described...we thought that we would be shown all around the park...and would get a closer view of the swimming area and the cycling veladrome..but we only saw them from a distance.
