  • Overview

    The Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class is a luxury roadster known for its amazing looks, handling, performance and build quality. There is a total wow factor on high end models. Built since 1997, the name SLK represents Sport Light Compact (or Kompact in German). The SLK is famous for its retractable hard top which it almost single handedly popularised in modern motoring. The touch button folding mechanism transforms convertible to coupe with the greatest of ease. Thought by some to be the best looking car around there are several generations. A new model was launched in 2004 but the 2007 model range with its choice of supercharged 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated V6; plus a very nice AMG V8 is a great choice. SLK-Class Roadster models achieved a four star NCAP crash test rating with the European New Car Assessment Programme. Insurance ranges from group 16 to group 19.

    The SLK 200 Kompressor will accelerate from 0 to 62.5 mph in 7.9secs and manage a top speed of approximately 143mph. The SLK 55 AMG is the main powerhouse in the SLK range though with a 5.5-litre V8 engine and 360 hlus a top speed of 155 mph and acceleration in the order of 0-62 mph in 4.9 secs.

  • 2007 Mercedes-Benz SLK - 10 Special Edition

    Ten years after the first SLK the 2007 SLK Edition 10 offered some special technology and styling features to celebrate its popularity over the previous decade. SLK 10 Special Edition features include finishing in black and marked by EDITI0N badges on both wings, dark tinted tail-lights from the SLK 55 AMG and a red illuminated instrument cluster. Also, 17inch 10-spoke alloy wheels with a new chrome shadow painted finish plus special hub caps with the iconic Mercedes-Benz star and laurel wreath design in black and silver.

    2007 SLK 55 AMG comes with electro-hydraulic vario-roof, Bi-xenon headlamps - with headlamp wash and dynamic range adjustment, metallic paint, parameter steering - speed-sensitive, remote boot release, spare wheel and green tinted glass. A 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic transmission, AMG Speedshift function with steering wheel gearshift paddles and Speedtronic cruise control plus aerial on rear wing are standard. AMG body styling with exclusive SLK 55 AMG front apron and AMG high-performance braking system with composite front brake discs are included as are AMG spoiler lip on the boot lid.
