The Skoda Superb is Skodas flagship executive car which was based on the platform of the VW Passat although it is longer. The name is a resurrection of an old Skoda, a large 1936 model. Its the largest and most luxurious car in Skodas line-up, and offers impressive value for money. The Skoda Superb is available with several petrol and diesel engines. There is a choice of base model, the Classic, and more luxury versions. The Superb was revamped in 2006 to incorporate Skodas new modern grille, headlights and tail lights. At that stage a Laurin and Klement model became the top of the range. The latest 2008 model are the best yet, a vast improvement on an already decent car, offering buyers even more passenger space, gadgets and equipment plus better handling and a new engine range. Whats more its possibly Skodas best looking vehicle to-date with an impressive futuristic design. Skoda Superbs latest range offers a wide range of options including diesel and petrol engines and choice of transmissions. Depending on the engine, the Superb is fitted as standard with either a five or six speed manual
transmission. An adaptive Tiptronic automatic transmission is also available as an option for the 1.8T 20V 150bhp and V6 193bhetrol engines as well as the 2.5 V6 diesel engine. This intelligent five-speed automatic system electronically adapts to driving styles and prevailing road conditions but can be switched to manual transmission without clutch pedal if required. Clutch manual transmission control is operated from a hydraulically-activated single-plate dry clutch with diaphragm spring, asbestos-free coating. Automatic transmission is via hydrodynamic torque converter. Other features with the latest Skoda Superb 2008 include climatronic electronically regulated air-conditioning, height adjustable steering wheel and drivers seat, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System plus EDL (Electronic Differential Lock) for added safety. Cruise Control and ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), Bi-Xenon headlights, rain sensor, plus acoustic rear parking sensors are also standard on many models.
Skoda Superb 2008 Classic Key equipment as standard includes ABS + EDL + ASR + MSR, alarm with interior monitoring and backup alarm horn, CatVision diffused interior illumination, Climatronic electronically regulated air-conditioning, curtain airbags, driver and front passenger front and side airbags, electric front and rear windows, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, folding rear centre armrest with two integrated cup holders. Height is adjustable via front seatbelts with pre-tensioners and the Superb Classic comes with luggage compartment tilting hooks, multi-function indicator (trip computer), Symphony radio with in-dash MP3 CD Player, 8 speakers (compatible with CD auto-changer), travel-box and front folding armrest with cooled storage space.
Skoda Superb 2008 Comfort main equipment as standard over Classic includes, 16inch Ornate alloys (7J x 16inch and 205/55 R16 91W tyres), ABS and EDL plus ASR and MSR and ESP (depending on engine), acoustic parking sensors (rear only), cruise control, multi-function steering wheel (cruise control and radio), rain sensor wipers, small leather pack: steering wheel, gear knob and gaiter. Also, handbrake handle, Symphony radio with in-dash MP3 CD Player with 6 CD auto-changer and 8 speakers and upholstery trim emotion velour (onyx and ivory).
Skoda Superb 2008 Elegance Saloon Key equipment as standard over Comfort includes 17inch Cygnus alloys (7J x 17 and 225/45 R17 91Y tyres), Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic adjustment and integrated headlight washers, electrically adjustable folding door mirrors with memory system. Also comes with electronically adjustable driver and passenger seat (driver seat with memory), heated front and rear seats (separate controls), memory function driver seat and door mirrors, satellite navigation system, upholstery victoria fine nappa leather seats (onyx and ivory).
