The Skoda Fabia is the popular supermini which became the first car to overhauls Skodas previous not so good reputation. The first model to use VWs A04 Platform, which it shares with the VW Polo Mk4, it was available as hatchback and estate. The Skoda Fabia was the successor to the Skoda Felicia, which was discontinued in 2001, and was first launched in 2000. Its success contributed to Skoda gaining Manufacturer of the Year 2000, from Autocar magazine. The car was also Best Supermini in What Car? magazine that year and went on to win lots of other awards over the following years as it carved out a reputation for comfort, performance and reliability along with excellent value for money. 2008 models, available in hatchback and estate body are the best yet, benefiting from choice of five-speed manual transmission, fully synchronised with direct gearshift, and automatic transmission with 6-speed Tiptronic, in a wide range of engine options, including diesel and petrol versions. Along with its great stylish, sculpted, chunky look with wraparound windscreen and a whole range of top level features the new Skoda Fabia looks set to gain an equally enviable reputation, for value for money, as its predecessor.
The 2008 Skoda Fabia design is close to the styling first seen on the Skoda Roomster, and includes sculpted grille and bonnet, cockpit-style wraparound windscreen with black A pillars and floating roof and new rear C shaped lights. Such features ensure the latest Fabias are the most stylish yet. The car is also bigger overall than the one it replaced, with more boot space and headroom. The boot, especially, has grown, providing 300 litres of space (with the seats up). Thats 40 litres more than before plus an an impressive 1,163 litres of space with the seats down. Other features include manual air conditioning, air conditioned glovebox and cornering front fog lights (optional). Other features include passenger front airbags as standard on all new Fabias. Luxury features include Single CD and MP3 player, plus 3.5mm auxiliary socket (for MP3 players etc) fitted as standard on all models. These allow you to listen to your portable MP3 player, DAB radio or a cassette player through the Fabia Dance stereo. Also as standard there are holders in both front door panels for 1.5 litre bottles.
Key equipment as standard over Fabia 1 includes 15inch Antares alloys, additional 4 speakers, air conditioning, alarm with tilt sensor, body coloured door handles, body coloured wing mirrors, electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors, halogen headlights with DE module. Also, height adjustable passenger seat, remote central locking, storage pockets on rear of front seats, trip computer.
Skoda Fabia Sport Hatchback Key equipment as standard extra to Fabia 2 includes 16inch Bear alloy wheels, 3 spoke leather steering wheel, black protective side mouldings, curtain airbags, front fog lights. Also glasses storage compartment, leather gear knob and gaiter, leather handbrake cover, seat belt warning buzzer, sports body kit and seats and sunset glass.
Skoda Fabia 3 Hatchback main equipment as standard over Fabia 2 includes, 16inch Atria alloys, acoustic rear parking sensors, black protective side mouldings, climatronic air conditioning, cruise control, floor mats, front armrest, front fog lights. Also, leather 4-spoke steering wheel, gear knob and gaiter, maxi-dot trip computer.
