The Audi S8 is a high-performance version of the Audi A8 executive car. It was introduced to the European market in 1998, four years after the A8. Early first generation models featured a re-tuned, 340 PS (335 hp/250 kW) V8 engine, standard quattro 4 wheel drive, large wheels and upgraded tires, enlarged brakes, upgraded looks and increased performance. Second generation models from 2006 onwards were even more awesome with a 450 bhp (340 kW) 5.2L V10 FSI engine derived from the 5.0 litre V10 used in the Lamborghini Gallardo. Audi S8 safety and security features includes adaptive lights dynamic cornering lights, including Xenon Plus headlights with coming-home function with LED daytime running lights. These pivoting headlight units follow steering wheel movement from speeds of 7mph upwards (includes headlight washers). Turning-light function integrated into headlights and activated when indicator is switched on, steering wheel is turned considerably or when reverse is selected. Only works with low-beam headlights and at speeds of up to 45mph. Also S adaptive air suspension with firmer shock absorbers.
