Keyboardist Uwe Gronau has a new album called TIME RIDER and he claims the music helps the listener with personal “time riding.”
Gronau says, “The more knowledge and experience the listener brings to the music, the more they get out of it. A ‘Time Rider’ must have a deep understanding of the concept of time by knowing the scientific aspects, by having experienced time through meditation and contemplation, and by voluntarily day-dreaming himself into other eras and places.”
It would seem the concept of time riding and the album TIME RIDER are both a head-trip. The music of TIME RIDER is definitely out there (high-speed congas, paddles in water, do-da-do vocal chants, luscious piano and much more).
Apparently Gronau has put out a dozen or more albums in Germany, but is just starting to make waves in America (his last CD, MIDSUMMER, got a lot of airplay and good reviews). He is certainly a fascinating musician to keep an ear open to. He is not afraid to take chances, but has sense enough to stay melodic most of the time which draws you back.
Take a listen to TIME RIDER and see if the music puts your mind in another place (or another time-frame).
