I strongly recommend you to see Kainan 1890. You will be moved by the kindness and helpfulness of the Japanese and Turkish people in this historical film.
The film is divided into two parts.
The first part is about the story of Ertugrul in 1890. Ertugrul was an Ottoman naval ship and its mission was to give the personal letter of Ottoman Sultan to the Japanese Emperor. After completing it, the ship was caught by a strong tyhoon on the way back home, and crashed into the rocks and sank near Kushimoto Island.
The second part describes a brave act of the Turkish people in Teheran 1985, when the Iran-Iraq war started.
The irregular thing is that most of the characters in this movie have no name. However, this is a strong point, I think.
In the first part, the main character is a Japanese doctor in Kushimoto. He has a strong will and it changed the destiny between Japan and Turkey.
And in the second part, a Turkish Officer played an important role. He is a descendant of a survivor of Ertugrul.
The scene of landscape in Kushimoto are beautiful and natural. Also, the sinking of the Ertugrul using special effects is realistic.
I love this film because you can rediscover the nature of friendship among countries in this age of disorder.
The brave act of the Turkish people is the best scene for me. It makes me really moved and thankful to Turkish people. I can`t say more detail...
I recommend this not only for Japanese and Turkish people but also people all over the world. When viewing this, I want you to think about the oridinal friendship.
I have no idea of any other films to compare it to. I think there are no more good co-produced films between two countries in the world!
You should watch this brilliant film and it will be unforgettable for you.
