We had a wonderful wedding but John Lewis put a downer on planning and after the wedding due to their awful gift list service.
Everything is controlled by their gift list is Scotland, not at your local store, you get given wrong information, contacted by phone every few weeks due to problems with sourcing things and products no longer being stocked (after spending hours putting our list together at least 1/4 of the things have been removed) and then finally when you are waiting for your delivery the day before getting told they aren't sure if they've packed an item! That item (a popcorn maker) then can't be delivered to your nearest Waitrose (unlike if you brought it yourself online), can't be delivered on a nominated day (Parcel Force are their partners and only do a 5 day service). You can though wait over a month to have it delivered by one of their vans as its 'wedding season' or have it sent to a store (in another county for us and an hour away) which will take 5 days....oh no sorry we were given the wrong information, make that 7 days and they then phone to say they've been chasing it for us and it's actually not in stock.....oh no sorry they've lost it. It's also the only one in the country left! But £20 vouchers will surely bring us round?!?!?
I'm off to Argos later...to get the gift that my husband was most excited about and that we've had popcorn and sugar waiting for.
I've always loved John Lewis but this had really changed my mind about them.
You are better off doing a list yourself and sorting it. We ended up doing a second list to send out as the items we wanted they no longer did and that was far less hassle!
