"Ludicrous! Do not use John Lewis for gift list!!"
I am yet to be married and have had a ridiculously negative experience of the JL gift list already. After spending a lot of time and thought picking out our gifts, JL contacted me to say quite a few of my chosen items had gone into the sale and it would be unlikely they'd be able to supply them so could I remove them and pick alternatives. I told them this was inconvenient after all the time it had taken to choose them but I reluctantly did what they asked. I thought that would be the end of that...But..no! I received another call today (2 weeks before my wedding!) to say a few of the gifts that my guests had purchased were no longer available! Items included a vase, a photo frame, a beach towel, fitted bed sheets, pillow cases, tea towel, set of mugs, salt and pepper shakers, sugar bowl, milk whisk...quite a lot of items! They don't mind taking people's money but they're not so keen on keeping their end of the bargain and actually providing the items and a good customer service! They have said these items will need to be converted into gift vouchers (how impersonal). I am furious at such a supposedly high rated company providing such a poor service and let them know so! I told them the whole process has been stressful and I do not want another phone call from them with any more 'out of stock' items. Who knows how many more of our purchased gifts will be converted into gift vouchers and whether we will a) receive our gifts on time and b) receive all our gifts. I'm certainly not holding out much hope and feel very angry and upset by the whole rigmarole that is John Lewis! DO NOT USE!!!
