Having got married in 2009 I bought a dress from Brides of Solihull. The deposit was paid at the Wedding Show in the autumn of 2008. The dress was amazing as it was Ian Stuart and I could not fault the actual product however the customer service was appauling.
Having spent a significant amount of money I was not able to pick my dress up until a few days before the actual wedding. I did not realise this was unusual until my sister got married last year. So as any bride would know this just adds to prewedding stress!
Then 2 months ago I had a water leak and it ruined my beautiful dress. Luckily I am fully insured and the company were willing to refund all the amount. Unfortunately, this does not keep my dress. However the insurance company asked me for proof of purchase and advised that shops would usually be able to do this. On contacting the shop over a month ago they stated without an exact date then they could not retrieve manually archived files. So, I went back to my mother who is suffering from illness at present,as she had paid for the dress. She found a payment after ploughing through her bank statements anf I contacted the shop again to advise. They then stated that they were in the middle of a move and could not tell me when they would be able to find the receipts. I have now left it another 10 days and they have stated they are still unable to tell me when they can look for the receipt. I have now decided to cut my losses and not pursue this meaning I will lose at least £300.
Future brides be warned, when I compare the experience I had at Brides of Solihull in comparison to my sister at Fairytales in Towcester, I would never recommend using this shop.

Having come across the shop in january of this year , my auntie who is to get married next year chose to have a look in the shop, and we were absolutley stunned with the service we recieved, it was beyond belief , no service smile, was service with a grunt , dresses were thrown in our direction , they were egar to get us out the shop didnt want to serve us was more interested in another client and her 6 person family who were completely filling the shop, which was no fault of the lady , but they didnt accomodate us they just shuved us in teh corner of the shop like naughty children , we were not asked if we would like any refeshments nor were we asked if we wud like to sit down .we asked for specific itenms however , the women thought she knew better and showed us something we didnt wish to see. we have since been back this week and they have moved to another shop . They have to be the most rude people i have ever come across , we were paying customers and the choose to ignore us . The moment we enetered the shop and asked to look at wedding shoes , the lady just replied ' there in the corner ' no hello , no can i help you just plain rudeness , we were unable to see the shoes properly as there was an ironing bored in the way and the lady only moved this so she could get to the plastic bag to cover a coat with . We were ignored as they were all having a cup of tea togther . we asked to have alook at the shoe and we were told to hold on while she placed the plastic sheet over the coat . the shoes did not fit and so we said sorry there not wat were looking for and they werent even bothered and so we just walked out and left them to there tea. and i would not recommend it , you are not treated like a bride nor are you treated like a customer you are just simple in there way of them having a cup of tea and a chat.
