My friend ordered and paid for a wedding dress in full in December as the sales assistant told her the prices were going up the next day, needless to say they are still the same! Her wedding is this weekend and the dress did not come in till last week for all the alterations!! She has been very stressed and the sales assistants told her that her wedding was not their priority!!! The service was absolutely terrible, they need to have words with their staff. Weddings are stressful enough without this.

I chose my dress (Star Emily Fox) before I saw any reviews on Berketex & then when I saw the reviews after my first fitting I panicked! I was told they would order a dress a size smaller than my measurements & I signed a form to confirm I agreed to this and would loose weight. I thought bit cheeky to suggest I lose some weight but I am glad now that I did. I noticed after that the measurements they took were a lot bigger than my actual measurements so I was a little worried. Anyway at the first fitting they just pinned the very large dress in to fit & when I went back just under 2 week before the big day it fitted perfectly, this was the 2nd fitting & I got to take it home. The dress was taken in more than 2 dress sizes but I didn't pay more than the £100 alterations fee. I didn't find them at all pushy in the store, there was a bank holiday offer on but they didn't try to hard sell, they were very helpful & we tried lots of different styles before I made up my mind. I went to another shop in Guildford & they only were only interested in dropping designer names, they weren't helpful in chosing what suited me best or offering shoes to wear, Berketex did do this, the other bridal shop btw has since closed down. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I felt a little worried before the first fitting that I had to call them twice to make an appointment for the fitting, the dress took longer to come in than expected & then they only do these fittings on Tuesdays, it would have been good to known this in advance as it's tricky with my work to get week days off & I don't live very near to Guildford, however all other fittings could be any day of week. I understand some people's experiences haven't been great but I really can't complain, everyone loved my dress & I loved my dress too! I think I would recommend you find out in advance before you plump for your dress a few things, such as how they measure, why they choose to order such a large dress first, how many fittings are needed & al thel costs involved. You have to put your trust in these people because it's a first experience for most of us, so ask lots of questions at the start & be clear you understand what they are doing!
