The key element that makes for an effective support team is the ability to identify with the user's experience level. A good support man/woman is one who has been there, done that, made the same mistakes, and through hell and high water has come out of it with the idea that maybe they could help someone else. It is hardly a problem, because all I have to do is hit the "support" button and within 10 minutes I have a very clear answer emailed to me explaining what happened and how to fix it.
