I had a domain on one.com that I did not use. With all other hosts , such as godaddy, pair.com etc. if you want to drop a domain you just let it expire. Not so with one.com!
They auto-renewed the domain and are sending me a bill for nexts yearf for a domain I do not want. And not only the domain.. they also included a package with a lot of things I do not need, and do not want. I wrote to them about this , and specifically noted that it is 3 weeks until the domainname expires. But they still insist that I have to pay for the next year.
So in short: Use a webhost that treats customers like customers, not like slaves.

Hi,
I am sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with our service.
Please note that our product is a subscription and that it will be automatically renewed every year unless you cancel it until 30 days before the new 12 months subscription period starts. You can find this information in the terms that you agreed to during placing the order.
I would like to look into this and see, if there is anything I can do for you. Could you please send me an email with your domain and the details to [email protected]? I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Melissa | One.com

I have the same issue with one.com. I have been forced to renew a domain which I no longer require, they have sent debt collectors to force me to pay even though I had said I no longer required the domain. This is ridiculous as other providers drop a domain once it is not renewed.
Please stay clear of this company!!!

Having just started dealing with One.com, their T&Cs make it clear that if you do not wish to renew a domain then give 30 days notice. Very clear and used by many companies.

I'm having the same issue, trying to drop the domain and they are denying receiving my emails asking for a cancellation!

Exact same for me too. They are a really bad company, i didn't use the domain from the subscription start date and it gave me an option when i signed up to opt out of an automatic renewal. they seem to have changed their policy and it is not what I signed up to. The are a joke!!!

Hi,
I am sorry to hear you are dissatisfied with our service. However the mentioned procedure is not correct. We do not offer the option to sign up for opt out of an automatic renewal. During the ordering process you find an option to sign off from auto-payment which means that the payment will not be automatically drawn from your credit card for the coming subscription year. I assume that you have unchecked this box while ordering the domain, since we never offered the option that you described.
Our product is based on a subscription which will be automatically renewed, if you do not cancel in time. You can find this information in the terms that you agreed on during the ordering process and also in the annual invoice you received by e-mail.
You are welcome to send me your domain by e-mail I'll be happy to look into the case for you to see how I can help you with it.
Regards,
Melissa | One.com
