1&1 is possibly the worst company we have ever used as a vendor. We're the owners of two separate companies and signed up with 1&1 to host our websites. BIG MISTAKE!
For one company we gave them our debit card and they started charging like drunken sailors. We called, our IT vendor called and finally we threatened a lawsuit to stop them from charging us for items we had not ordered. After several months we finally got a call from a representative at 1&1 about resolving these issues. The resolution amounted to hundreds of dollars which they finally reimbursed.........IN PAYMENTS!
For our other company we let the contract expire, or so we thought. 1&1 automatically renewed our contract, didn't deduct the usual payment from that company's debit card for 3 months then put us in collection. We had no idea that they had renewed the contract, absolutely no notification! The we get a call from a collection agency and a bill via snail mail from the same agency.
Out IT vendor called 1&1 on this also and all they did was bounce her from one department to another each claiming they couldn't help us but referring us to another department who repeated the same mantra. Finally she got one department to send us an email notifying us of cancellation of contract. But we still have to pay the outstanding amount on our unknown renewal!
Like I said, "You're crazy to use 1&1"
