We have been using 1and1 for business email for 3 years so we have given them a good go. We have gone through bursts of email downtime with no explanation from them too many times now so we are moving to Microsoft365, which turns out is going to cost TWO THIRDS less than 1and1!
1and1 customer services is really bad. They don't speak very good English and they read from a script, have difficulty understanding what you are asking them. The real beauty, though is when email goes down they send out an email to advise email is down. Smart move.
They sometimes send out automated emails asking for feedback and every time we get one of these we reply asking them to call us and they ignore it. The final straw was 2 weeks ago when email went down for 2 hours. They closed their website so we couldn't even contact them that way. This was after calling them. The phones rang then cut off. Understandably they had a load of other customers wanting to know why their business email had gone down too. If you are going to sell a service to as many people as possible, the resources/infrastructure has to be there to cope with customer calls should problems occur. Greedy company with very poor customer service and no regard for offering a consistent service. Their office is registered in the UK but I bet there is not one decision-maker based in the UK. Trying to get someone to take responsibility is like trying to get blood out of a stone.
Avoid this company - do not use them!!
