I recently started a business and 123-Reg has almost stopped it in its tracks.
Buying a domain through them is a good experience but that's the only experience you should have, use them for nothing more.
The hosting speed is appallingly slow and the customer service is terrible. I have followed all their instructions, disabled caching, made sure I'm not used Wordpress, Joomla Jimla, Jumla and everything else they can't support, and they have apparently moved me to their 'fastest' servers. ( I have no idea why some customers get faster or slower servers, I certainly was never asked which I wanted).
They have told me I am now set up correctly and everything is perfect only it isn't. It's grindingly, achingly frustratingly slow again and now we are starting the same circle. They are telling me to turn off cacheing and if that doesn't work they may move me to faster servers. (What? Even faster than their fastest ones??)
Try calling them and you just get the standard customer support guys who say there is nowhere to escalate to other than the cancellations department! What message does that give you?
If you are putting up a site with little or no traffic, one page, no pictures, (and presumably not wanting anyone to ever see it, maybe 123-Reg is the one for you.
If you are trying to host a business website here then my advice is RUN A MILE!!! DO NOT USE THEM, it would be quicker to distribute your information by a one-legged postman..
