John Noakes from Thames Valley Softners gave me a clear and easily understood explanation and comparison with othes softners. Although I had other companies quote me, we wanted the best. He gave me a fair price with 4 packs of Block Salt and a hard water outlet for an outside tap to be fitted by me.
The plumber, Martin Perrin came within 10 days and completed the job in 3 hours with no mess and very neat installation on a shelf. An excellant job.
The softner has now been working for a month and all our hard water stains have gone, we use less soap and lots more suds and slightly less salt than John had estimated, although time will tell on that. The taste of the water is like bottled water so whilst different very paletable. Whilst it is fitted in the garage it makes only a little noise when regenerating. The only downside is that the water pressure is slightly less, but not significanlty, if I want to water the garden it comes with a valve that switches it back to hard water fast flow.
