The Harvey's Water Softener is an improvement on the make I had previously : it's design is sleek , stream-lined and discreet and its use of salt seems quite economical . It doesn't spit water or salt when it is cleaning itself , which is a great bonus and makes it a very well behaved softener !
For me the most wonderful thing about having soft water is the fact that all my newly fitted chrome taps stay sparkling clean and there is no ugly , repugnant build up of limescale around the bases of the taps .(I so used to hate cleaning that off.)
The other fantastic benefit is that there is no limescale build up on my toothbrush now -- how horrible it used to be , using a scaley toothbrush !
Disadvantages. On the down side I have to report that in both the packets of salt I have opened so far , the blocks have been broken and this makes them very difficult to load into the softener (and messy). I am disappointed by this , as I was told by the sales rep. that the block salt would be easier and less messy to load than tablet salt and that is why I made the decision to purchase this particular softener .
The other thing I don't like is that the softener can make te most terrible noise when it is cleaning itself sometimes (something akin to a motorbike engine) .
Apart from these two drawbacks , I am happy with my Harvey's Water Softener , though I'm still not sure whether I would recommend it to a friend or not .
As for value for money , I would like to give it a year before rating it .
